Alright this might answer some questions.. For the first post.. You could be using level3 all the way from Chicago to San Jose then to where the server is located in Santa Cruse... There is an OC-192 running from chicago to denver then into San Jose.. From my tracert that is the route that they are taking me and I am in the northern suburbs.. Running to texas might not be as fast as there isnt a great way to get down to Texas on a super high speed line via Level3 with out going through ATL.. That could be part of the problem.. BTW welcome to the forum and FDC Servers.net one of their POPs is Level3.. For the second question.. This is the most accurate testing site on the internet that I know of.. http://www.testmy.net/tools/the_bench_version2.php .. At Purdue University I was on a OC-1 or OC-3 to indy it look like and the fastest that I was able to pull was about 36,000Kbps.. Remember on a college campus it is going to very a lot! there is a ton of p2p traffic and the network is changing every minute.

if you are getting 92% i doubt it is the reciever..

yeah the pings look stable.. the only thing that looks a bit wierd is dsl6.tor.primus.ca [216.254.132.8] that one.. dsl6.. i am wondering if you are being placed on to a dsl network into toronto which could be causing the problems if that line gets really busy..

the only problem is that it requires a $200 + motherboard to get those types of seed and it looks like the new DDR2 memory running at really high speeds.. but it would be a cool project for someone who is looking to build a new computer.. so the speed went back to normal with out the Linksys wrt54g? if so then you might want to power cycle the router and maybe reset the router to the default configuration.

yeah but a crappy way to do it.. I was realy pissed when i saw that on my brother inspiron 6000.. That is what compaq use to do.. and it is really a way to save money..

It might not be that simple.. as most of the WISP are channel locked and governed by the FCC i believe.. The only question I have is whether you drop the singal or you still have a signal but are not getting any throughput.. What I am thinking is that since it is pretty remote they, the WISP, are using satelite as their backbone to get the internet to the customers. So if there were solar flares, which happen in the spring and fall, that would create the type of situtation you are discribing. it isnt true liquid cooling.. it is passive cooling with a heat pipe that runs a passive heat sink to the rear of the case I guess.. From what I have seen the max for the Intel D830 is 69.8* C.. I would suggest getting some cooling either by removing the side of the computer for a bit or installing a few fans.. that should improve the temps inside.. Also you might want to clean out the case and make sure that there isnt any dust bunnies making a home in the bottom of the case.

Alright another one for you LCD gurus... I have a Gateway FPD1730 that i got for free.. The only problem with it is that when you power it up it displays white then fades to black. I am not 100% sure of that means that the LCD is dead, it does display colors during this start up, but doesnt allow the menu to appear at any point. Any ideas or have you heard of this issue?

Just saw the D805 2.66ghz dual core can go up to 4.1ghz.. $129 chip out preforms anything else on the market. Take a look at tom's hardware that is where I found the article..

I would follow what ever symantec says to do.. NAV is a know pain in the butt to remove! So make sure you read the instructions before doing anything! What version do you have of NAV? I know there is an app that will kill 2003 and lower..

on to level3 what a joy.. Level3 can be good sometime but they have been know to pull down/slow down their network if they dont get their way.. They did this last summer..

no.. if you want 500 watt you are looking to spend atleast $60-$75.. that is just asking for problems and could distroy the rest of the computer as the power they put out is really dirty and can lead to equipment failure.

bigger is always better as far as power supplies go.. as long as you are getting a name brand..
