  1. Anyone got any leads on this wallpaper. Man its just sweet and sure would love to have it.
  2. Any one else ever use nlite to make your own custom xp install?? It took some time, trial and effort but I finally figured out not only how to use it, but to make my own nlite add ons. So the second question is, would anyone want a guide on how to use it? I think making the nlite add ons was the hardest to figure out. That is til if found a free program that makes it super simple. I did find a video of making your own nlite addon but got stuck about half way through and never could figure out the rest of it. No sound to the video just watching someone make one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yFhpDJLTGKQ About the 1:22 mark when the error box shows up I have no clue what to do next. I tried just closing and hitting yes, and hitting no and even cancle but could never duplicate what is shown in the video. My notepad remained blank.
  3. Well while in the virtual machine, I right click my computer, go to hardware section, It is showing my ethernet card. Any ideas on how to change thoes settings in vm?
  4. Ok so I decided to play with microsoft virtual pc 2007. Loaded a copy of xp in it. Everything works fine except I can not surf the net with it. Heck maybey you can't. I did check and it is showing my eithernet adapter, So am I doing something wrong or is it impossible to use the internet inside virtual pc??
  5. Of late been playing with diffrent flavors of xp pro. Thats Xp pro modified in diffrent ways. I use my legit key. Some really good stuff out there. The people that put these together are just Super Smart. Some super boot up options. Really like tinyxp, LastXp, And essentials 2.
  6. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080722/ap_on_bi_ge/oil_prices Down another 4 bucks a barrel. Looks like they finally figured out prices go up, people stay home. Now they are concerned that americans are becoming less dependent on oil and just not spending the money on gas. Don't think that trend will ever change again. People are to worried gas will jump up way to much again, so habits will probally stay the same. Less travel, more walking, More fuel effecent cars. Big trucks and SUV's are becoming a thing of the past. America is feed up and just staying close to home.
  7. My thoughts about nam being worse than iraq. With all due respect that is just something we will never know. Many things going on there Im sure we don't know about. As with vietnam, many soldiers from iraq are comming home broken men and women. To many. As with vietnam and Iraq. I continue to ask why are we even there? Our dad's and mom's and kids are dying for what?? Someone made the point its there job.I am sorry but they are not doing there job. They are forced into a situwaytion that bush forced. They are not dying for amercia's freedom, for our way of life, defeding our soil. They are dying for the people of iraq. What benifit do american's get. NOTHING. A horrible recession, oil prices through the roof. Poor People are getting Poorer. This war is solving NOTHING.
  8. This is just one of way to many stories that just break my heart. PINEHURST, N.C. - Officers had been to the white ranch house at 560 W. Longleaf many times before over the past year to respond to a "barricade situation." Each had ended uneventfully, with Joseph Dwyer coming out or telling police in a calm voice through the window that he was OK. But this time was different. The Iraq War veteran had called a taxi service to take him to the emergency room. But when the driver arrived, Dwyer shouted that he was too weak to get up and open the door. The officers asked Dwyer for permission to kick it in. "Go ahead!" he yelled. They found Dwyer lying on his back, his clothes soiled with urine and feces. Scattered on the floor around him were dozens of spent cans of Dust-Off, a refrigerant-based aerosol normally used to clean electrical equipment. Dwyer told police Lt. Mike Wilson he'd been "huffing" the aerosol. "Help me, please!" the former Army medic begged Wilson. "I'm dying. Help me. I can't breathe." Unable to stand or even sit up, Dwyer was hoisted onto a stretcher. As paramedics prepared to load him into an ambulance, an officer noticed Dwyer's eyes had glassed over and were fixed. A half hour later, he was dead. When Dionne Knapp learned of her friend's June 28 death, her first reaction was to be angry at Dwyer. How could he leave his wife and daughter like this? Didn't he know he had friends who cared about him, who wanted to help? But as time passed, Knapp's anger turned toward the Army. A photograph taken in the first days of the war had made the medic from New York's Long Island a symbol of the United States' good intentions in the Middle East . When he returned home, he was hailed as a hero. But for most of the past five years, the 31-year-old soldier had writhed in a private hell, shooting at imaginary enemies and dodging nonexistent roadside bombs, sleeping in a closet bunker and trying desperately to huff away the "demons" in his head. When his personal problems became public, efforts were made to help him, but nothing seemed to work. This broken, frightened man had once been the embodiment of American might and compassion. If the military couldn't save him, Knapp thought, what hope was there for the thousands suffering in anonymity? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/military_the_enemy_within
  9. I am shocked that more and more people are bringing down xp from the net. I figured the numbers would get smaller, Instead they just continue to grow and grow. Microsoft made a BIG mistake stopping the selling of xp. People can not find or buy it, they can still acquire a copy with not much of a effort. I bought my xp a year ago, glad I did. I just think most will continue to use xp even a year or 2 after the next release of windows. Think everyone learned there lesson from vista. As long as the file system stays the same (ntfs) I just can not see a reason to change. It takes little or no effort to clone xp to look, act and feel just like vista. The same will be true with the next release. I think the only hope microsoft has with the next release is not to charge such a huge amount of money to buy it, and the average computer will run it will all the bells and whistles.
  10. I had NO Clue There was a entire website for scamming the scammers. The forums are filled with stuff. Looks like more and more people are getting even with them. http://www.419eater.com/index.htm This is kinda a long read but funny. http://www.zug.com/pranks/powerbook/
  11. Just reply with the ever popular "wow do I have a investment Idea for you, and for 59.95 I will send you the info on how to double or triple your money with no money down."
  12. Thanks tommie. Followed your advice and just installed avg 7.5. Starship, Admuncher is a great little adblocker. I use opera and maxthon, I just find it easier to use admuncher to block all the garbage and it works well. Best 26 bucks I ever spent. It updates itself, works with all browsers so I only have to worry about one adblocker for the 2 or 2 browsers I use. Once in awhile I will fire up firefox.
  13. So I like most like avast. That is until it refused to let me update my admuncher. Never asked me if I wanted to block it or not. Just did. Not real happy with avg 8.0. Now pay attention DON"T DO THIS AT HOME!! I am simply gonna dump the anti virus until I find something that works well. You guys having any issues with avg or avast. Sure seems of late getting LOTS of false positives out of both.
  14. It won't take long for hackers to find security holes in IE8. Same way with firefox 3. IMHO firefox has bragged way to much. Bragging its more secure, and has millions of downloads and this and that. Yea just put a sign on firefox, Please find security flaws and exploit it. That is the one thing that keeps me away from using firefox as my primary browser. Its the cool hip thing to do. I just giggle every time someone spouts, I use firefox its more secure. No the most secure computer is created by common sense, knowledge, current spyware and antivirus programs. A computer that does not download torrents and P2P stuff and stays away from warez sites. Myself, I only use xp firewall, Only use the opera browser, Scan my computer on a monthly basis and do so in safe mode. No problems on my end. Way to many average users use firefox and believe there computer is bullet proof.
  15. I myself really don't buy into that. Just because people download it does not mean the use it. Myself I prefer opera. Just works better, faster and I can customize it the way I want. Yes I have firefox on my computer, also have maxthon, I still use opera as my primary browser.
  16. My gf just bought herself a new t.v. Got the 37 inch vizo that is just sweet. Got it at wall mart. For whatever its worth. I would get the extended warranty. Its only 50 bucks and that covers just about everything for the next 2 years. That kicks in when the normal warranty is done. Think all together the warranty is about 4 years. Covers everything. Oh sales lady also told us make a few copies of the receipt. The one you just get from the register will fade in time, but the copies will last forever. If your like the rest of us poor people, this is a one time buy. Get the extended warranty so you won't have to worry about replaceing it. Just a thought. Enjoy your t.v. Oh we went with the lcd as well. Plasmas are nice, just hear to many bad things about them.
  17. Well now xp is on the way out. Would you install a "questionable" verson of xp for someone? My vote would be no. Not into going to jail and becoming someones new girlfriend.
  18. Another poll was done recently. Says 9 out of 10 Americans say gas causing family hardship. Really?? And they also found out, water is wet, the sun is hot and when it rains, puddles tend to form. Do they really think we are so stupid not to already know this?? I have no clue who comes up with these "poll" questions. All I can say is there one college education gone to waste. Supid polls like this just drive me crazy. http://news.yahoo.com/page/election-2008-political-pulse-gas-prices Lets see if someone can find one just a stupid.
  19. Really matters not who ends up in office, the poor, like myself, are gonna get the shaft, the rich will continue to richer, the oil companies will continue to laugh all the way to the bank, just makes me sick. Now that our country is trillions in debt, (thank you president bush) I just keep asking. Iraq has all this oil, we have spent billions over there, spending millions a month with no end in sight, why can't iraq start repaying some of the cost with oil?? Man bush is still push a war with iran. Wanna bet we end up getting into it with them next?? Man something has to give, scares me what that "something" ends up being. God help us all.
  20. Internet providers are forsure starting to sweat. With more and more getting broadband, Thoes speeds getting faster and faster, The backbone can only cary and handle so much. When The whole net thing started comming together they never dreamed of the current speeds. Now if we can just get SHUG to stop downloading porn there may not be a urgent need to fix the issue, Until then, they will forsure have to get something done.
  21. They claim the reason Gates has not yet retired is because he does not want to leave vista as his final O.S. They are really gonna have to come up with some good stuff for the next release or people will just stay with xp. Espiclly when most learned it took no time to Make Xp look and feel just like vista.
  22. As long as you use common sense, and do your scans for spyware, No worries. One of the reasons I use opera. While I am sure it has some vulnerability's, I just find it works, and on my machine its faster than firefox. Just don't let this news stop you from using firefox. If you like it, and it works fine on your computer, then continue to use it.
  23. Five hours after Mozilla officially released Firefox 3.0, researchers found a vulnerability in the new browser. Tipping Point has verified the bug and reported it to Mozilla, Tipping Point said on Wednesday. Since Mozilla is still working on a fix, the researchers won't share details about the problem. Tipping Point ranked the severity of the vulnerability as high, but said that users would have to click on a link in an e-mail or visit a malicious Web page before being affected. The issue affects users of Firefox 3.0 as well as Firefox 2.0 . Once the problem is fixed, Tipping Point will publish an advisory on its Web site, it said. Tipping Point found out about the vulnerability through its Zero Day Initiative, which lets researchers earn cash by submitting new vulnerabilities to the company. Once Tipping Point validates the issue, it pays the researcher for the information and notifies the relevant software vendor of the technical details. Mozilla did not respond to a request for comment. Mozilla launched its newest browser on Tuesday along with a marketing stunt that went a bit wrong. The company announced that it wanted to set a Guinness World Record for the largest number of software downloads in a 24-hour period. However, the volume of downloads crippled Mozilla's site, and so customers in the U.S. couldn't begin downloading the software until two hours later than expected. Still, Mozilla said it logged more than 8 million downloads within 24 hours. There is currently no record for number of software downloads in a day, but Mozilla must now wait for review of the stunt by Guinness officials. http://news.yahoo.com/s/pcworld/20080619/tc_pcworld/147277
  24. I am just not a fan of firefox. Probally will never use it much at all. While I do have it on my pc, I simply prefer opera.
  25. Why not a external harddrive. With the internet and upload and downloads can sometimes go bad. I am not sure how much data your wanting to back up. If its not that much you could use a usb drive.
