Just started seeing on my desktop and during the playing of a game red dot, a blue dot and geen dot. There are only 3 of them but they can forsure be noticed now. They are pretty tiny. They are on the left side of my screen. Are thoes dead pixles? Tried a screen capture on them but they dont show up. They are not real close togher. Are thoes dead pixles??

I do like the the idea of the section for videos and such. As far as the videos in the threads. I am just not crazy about it. Thats just my 2 cents.

Will setting my screen resolution to high effect games one way or another?? I ask cause I am used to running 1024x768. I got myself a new monitor. Its a 22 inch. Now It wants me to run it at 1680x1050. I hate that setting. Makes icons to tiny even set with "use large icons. I finally settled on 1280x960. I really like that setting. Kinda not to big, not to small thing. Only thing is will running 1280x960 effect games like cod4.I am running gforce 8600 gt.

Oh Man it was horrid. Shot blair witch style. Some guys camcorder, It was HORRID. 2. There are tons of sites that offer these types of movies, you can watch them free, So if you must, find a website and watch it. DON"T DOWNLOAD this one. Speaking of blair witch am I the only one that after 5 min of them being in the woods started rooting for the witch??

My son has just started driving a truck. He just got himself a laptop. I really no nothing about laptops and gps. So I thought you good people could give me some info. 1. Is there a monthy fee for any gps software. 2. I know this is WAYYYY off topic. Just need some help. Got some frozen copper pipes under a trailer that need thawed. tried space heater, no luck. So herre are my questions. 1.Does the water need to be off before I try to thaw these things out?? 2.Not my place,friend of mine, this will be fixed next year, I know how to prevent it from happing again. 3. Thought about getting a salamander heater. 60 thousand btu. Keep a close eye on it, and remove one panel of skirting. Use common sense. Dont let get to close, and use it to heat the underside of the pipes. Not right on it. Should work dont ya think??

While I may be wrong, you have to boot from vista. Same as if you had dual hard drives. Vista will not go on drive d. It must be on drive c. MIcrosoft will just not let vista run as a secondary os. Vista can not run on a slave drive. So trying to edit xp boot ini files while makes all the sense in the world, In the microsoft world it just does not work that way.

http://www.vistabootpro.org/ Its is free and should help you out. I understand you are wanting to dual boot. May not be a bad Idea to pick a os and just use that one. Vista just does not behave well with other os on the same harddrive. I am so glad microsoft gave thought to thoes that may want to dual boot xp and vista.

Can not forget that little issue xp has with connections. Need to download the lvlord patch to fix that one. On a side note, while it says in utorrent unable to make connections port forward is wrong I still get some decent speeds. Ive tried 1025, 80, all the others I could think of. I use 6112 now.

Installed itunes 7.5 on xp. HUGE mistake. Itunes will not launch. Did the repair install all that stuff. Finally after many hours this is how I fixed it. Went to search, used advanced settings and looked for quicktime. Deleted everything quicktime. Ran a registry cleaner. Rebooted. Then installed this version of quicktime....http://www.msfn.org/comments.php?shownews=20613 Its version 7.2.0.240 Once installed Itunes 7.4.2 worked fine. Avoid itunes 7.5 if your on xp. What a peta.

I have seen it countless times. You try to help someone. They either never show back up or figure it out and never tell you how they did it. Its how we all learn. So a short note. You ask for help, figure it out on your own, PLEASE tell us how ya did it. Oh short note. Compaq with vista can be wiped and installed with xp. Need nividia drivers and once installed and you go to windows update, windows update will give you the drivers for the realtek drivers you need for sound.

I figured it out. Gotta go to the "safley remove hardware". Find it, stop it. Right click on my computer, Open device manager, then disable it. It was listed under usb mass storage device. Hope that makes sense. You just have to treat removable devices like hardware, and have windows xp remove it, then in the device manager disable it. Never see it again.

So any idea how to get rid of them? Gotta be a way?

No system restore. No clue why they are showing up. May have a idea to get rid of them. They need to be unmounted. This computer had vista, deleted vista installed xp.

I am setting up gf new puter. Had vista, vista gone now have xp. When you open up my computer icon, I have 4 icons with removable disk next to them and a drive letter, How do I get rid of thoes things? Sorry in a rush, setting up xp on a fresh harddrive, finding drivers, tweaking it out so it is set up like mine takes tons of work, so may see me ask a few more questions in the next day or 2 but they will be in this thread. More and more sites are comming online to watch movies online without downloading, Are we allowed to talk about that? Really its a greay area, Your not downloading, your not burning, Just wanted to ask before saying anymore. Won't teach the downloading crap, but click on a link in the right site and a movie pops up, hey, they have yet to outlaw that one.

With utorrent being sold to someone else, I just droped down to version 1.6 and thats the one I will stay with. Check out there forums for more info on that. Make sure you go to options,.....speedguide.....test if port forward is set up right. The latest verson of utorrent seems slower. I found even though I was getting connections, my port forward was wrong. Thoes tiny tips really helped speeds. Its also best to rember, it starts a bit slow then really cooks. On a 8mb down 384 up I can bring down a legal movie in about a hour or 2 tops.

Tried to update my sound card drivers, Have the gforce 8600 GT. When I install then reboot I am getting the dreaded blue screen of death. Gotta jump into safe mode, uninstall, Then the computer boots up fine. Been to long but if I rember right there is a trick to it? Dont I have to uninstall my card, reboot, install the updated drivers, then reboot again? Or is there something I am missing and or forgetting?

I had the same line of thought on that one. Til my gf and someone else was playing around with my computer. Saw the find target and just had to have it on there computer. They find or found?? It easier. As well most average users will not play to deep in the right click. So they don't know to go to properties, then find target. As soon as I figure out the best way to edit that right click menue, The name I will probally change on mine to something silly. Just something to goof off with.

If you can make a simple program or exe here is something to play with that many I believe would find useful. 1. The program or exe file would alow the user of xp to simply right click on any icon and find the path and file associated with the icon. As well right click on the name of the file in the start, all programs menue. Example, they download itunes, icon is on the desk. They want the folder and or the path the program itself is in. Right click on the icon, select "find target" and poof it shows up for you, even opens the folder. Or go to start, all programs, find the name itunes, right click and it will show the path and open the folder for you. 2. How I do it. I have the dill file needed which I will attach to this post. Right click register it, then put the dll file in a random folder and just forget about it. Works well. Make a simple program that will register the dll file and place the dll file in a folder in xp. May be nuts but really think some would find it useful. Took alot of looking and searching to find out how to do this. I don't know that do you think?? I put the dll file in the windows folder, registerd it from there, works fine. Just did it to make sure I was right and explained right how I did it.

Im probably odd in terms of fans and noise. I prefer to hear mine. Thats why when I installed my 2 120 mm fans in the case the noise really mattered not to me. Not super loud but enough to know those bad boys are spinning. That way if a fan were to die or stop I would notice a difference in sound with my computer running. Same way with a car. Don't want it to be to quiet. That way if she is not running right you can hear it. I just learn to ignore the noise but will make the effort to listen every once in awhile to make sure things are good, if that makes sense. Like living near a airport, in time you learn to ignore the sounds of the airplane.
