ading a couple of fans need some ideas.....
ninjageek replied to ninjageek's topic in General Discussion
Here is a better pic of the back and side. -
Want to add a couple of fans to my case. Seems to be running a bit warm. Not bad. 120 degres pusing it. 85 degres not pushing it with a game. Its a dual core athlon 4200 2.2 GHz. Here is my case http://www.xoxide.com/aspire-x-cruiser-case-black.html . Now on the back of the case you can see the tiny holes. A fan sits behind that. THINKING about takeing thoes holes out and replacing the 4 inch with a 5 inch fan. I saw someplace on the net someone did that. On the side of the case is a cone that leads to the processor, Thinking of putting a fan there as well. Curently no fan is there. So here are my questions. 1. On the back of the case, should I take out thoes little hole and put a 5 inch fan there? If so how best do I do this? Whole saw? or tin snips? The reason for removing thoes little holes would be better air flow. Really pull the heat out of the computer. 2. On the side of the case, Putting a fan there, getting rid of that tunel, do I want the fan to blow in or blow out?? I have cleaned out the case, cleaned the fins on the heat sink, use a tooth brush, Cleaned out the screens in the top of the case (it has a fan in the top). So Dust is not the issue, Hope all this makes sense, will explain better if needed, I apreciate all imput. No I have no desire to liquid cool the processor. Process is NOT overclocked. Thanks all.

Girlfriends mom had probs with her del computer. Could not get it hooked to the net. She decides to call dell and have them send a tec to fix it. To get it hooked to the net he does a system restore instead of installing the driver for it thats on the dell web site. After this dumb move then he tells her it was her avg free that removed the important driver, Install nortons and charged her 50 bucks. After I found this out I was really really mad. I call this clown, while not able to talk to him I did talk to his boss. His boss was mad and could not believe how clueless this dude was. He agreed that this was the strangest thing he ever herd. Agreed nortons was a joke and avg did not remove the driver. Had no clue why a system restore was done cause he should have the drivers he needed on a disk. So props to dell, they refunded the money, this guy called and personally apoligized, Told her any more issues with her computer he would personally come fix it and promised no charge would made. WIth all the bad stories I see and hear about dell and tech support, Nice to see something turn out right. He told me with a few classes he would love to talk to me about a job. Sorry. I hate dell and no desire to fix them. Did not tell him that, but its sure what I thought.

Oh I believe sooner or later demonoid will once again be open for business. May be in a diffrent country but never the less it will be open again.

Sorry tommy. Not a link to the story itself. I lifted this from another forum. I did check and it is down. So until a link or whatever is provided take this story with a grain of salt. Hopeing someone can provide a bit more information.

As of now it is still unsure what exactly happened, but the popular Dutch news site nu.nl reports that the CRIA is responsible for the downtime. TorrentFreak contacted some of the Demonoid administrators, but they are not sure what happened either. It is certainly possible that Demonoid’s Canadian ISP pulled the plug after being pressured by the CRIA. The Demonoid server is still pinging, but the ISP could have firewalled the everything after they received some serious legal threats. Deimos, the founder and the head admin of the site is unreachable and has not responded yet. This is not the first time Demonoid suffers major downtime due to pressure from the anti-piracy lobby. Demonoid had to move its servers from The Netherlands to Canada in June after The Dutch anti-piracy outfit BREIN filed a subpoena against Demonoid’s ISP. BREIN had asked the ISP to take Demonoid offline and hand over the administrator’s personal details, but Demonoid relocated their servers before any harm was done. Unfortunately, it now seems that Canada is not the “safe haven” as they expected it to be. Demonoid tracks over a million .torrent files and is the second largest BitTorrent tracker after The Pirate Bay. The shutdown of the site and tracker is a huge blow for the BitTorrent community that lost 2 of the most popular BitTorrent trackers (TorrentBox was taken offline for US users a few hours ago) within 24 hours. Lifted this information from another web site. Wonder whats up?

The last I knew xp was already tweaked out for dsl. No need to tweak it with programs. That could of changed not sure? Now with cable I do use cablenut and a custom file that works well.

I may get blasted and flamed. But I am telling all strait up, This stuff really makes me wonder. I am NOT saying its the end of the world. But for someone that does believe in the man upstairs and the good book, It sure seems that allot of what was said in that book is comming to pass. I hope and pray im good to go in case it all comes to pass, In fact I hope every one is. Cause I do believe a visit from the man upstairs is not that far off. Could be wrong, might be. This kinda stuff sure makes me wonder I apoligize if I offended any one with that statment and it was not my intention to preach or force my views on things on others.

Well we are just gonna have to agree to disagree which is cool. I understand what your saying dlewis and in a perfect windows enviroment I would tend to agree. The problem is with windows then ad to it software, and I speak of xp. Vista is just a totaly new monster. You have your browsers as well. In time the processor speed will just not have that big of effect on your computer preformance. I am just saying as well if cost is a issue then don't strain your budget going with a bigger processor because in time you just won't notice a preformace increase. A nice dual core and a couple gig of dual core ram and a nice video card and your all set. I have always used amd and never had a issue with them, even with stock cooling. I am sure there are intel users that will say the same. That is my defensece with the ford vs chevy comparison. Your speeds depend greatly on the software, how well the operating system behaves, and how well you maintain your computer.
-
I personally prefer amd. As far performance and reliability you just can never be 100 percent sure. It would be the same as comparing chevy and a ford, comparing amd and intel chips. A dual core is nice I have amd 4200. I always suggest when you get close to deciding which chip, excuse this remark, but really use google. See what others are saying about the chip itself. With a good video card you will not notice that much difference between a dual core 4200 and a 5600. It would be more bragging rights than anything. Also I always suggest don't overclock it. You will just shorten the life and risk messing it up. You will hear oh buy the 5600 its soooooo much faster, in the real world no its not. The speed of the computer depends on many other things such as programs you run, how well you take care of it bla bla bla. Sorry for the rant. If your into bragging rights and such then spend the money. In the real world you will never notice the difference.

Having strange problems with download speeds
ninjageek replied to Ebegebee's topic in General Discussion
Could be a firewall issue as well. When you get ready to try another download disable your firewall for a short time. See if that kicks up your speeds. -
I guess thats part of my point. Maybe with our own kids its not as bad. I saw a article about a lawyer killed someone he thought molested his kid. He killed the wrong guy. We are all becoming so paranoid about everything its getting bad. Let a little girl sit on your lap just for a visit. Next thing you know, people start to wonder. I have been guilty of being a bit paranoid. We are all so sure bad things are gonna happen, we just forget to live and enjoy life, and give into the fear.
-
Saw a small article about fear of kids. Being a guy, in the usa. Lets face it, if ever acused you are guility until proven inocent. So yea, I am leary around kids. Was that way when my kids were little as well. After the age of 3 I Stoped helping my daughter take her baths. I always try to be just as careful as I can around them. I still refuse to be left alone with my gf kids. While I would never dream of ever hurting a child, the thought of being accused just scares me bad. So how about you. You leary around kids?

you would think so s1. The thing is when I restored my computer from a ghost image which was drive c I lost what saved game I did have. So It apears its putting by default the save on my c drive.
-
Ok I put bioshock on my slave drive (drive d) I put a shortcut to the game so it can be played on my C drive which is my master drive. Everything workes fine. The Big question is the save games. Which drive should have the save games. It seems I have them on both the D drive and the C drive. I had to restore My C drive from a ghost image, Had to start the game all over. No big deal reallly, Just need to know which folder I need to back up once I really start to get some place in the game. Would it be the C drive save games or the D drive save games?? Hope all this makes sense.

Huh never considerd that one tommy, Maybe they did have something on him? Guess we will never know. Good point man.

Was oswald put up to it. Who knows. I had always wondered was there one or 2 shooters. Me personally. After seeing this show on discovery and the lengths they went to to either prove or disprove the one or two shooters were involved, I firmly believe there was only one shooter. In hindsight, a second shooter could of been a HUGE mistake. The reason being if the second shooter had missed his mark, and it does happen, the American people would of known something major had happened. It would of been to big of risk to use a second shooter. One could also argue that if oswald was used by the government, was he so stupid not to leave proof hidden "just in case"?? Any one with any sense would of left something hidden a trump card as it were. So I would ask. If the government put you up to something major would you not have something to use as a trump card. Something that would ensure the covering of your behind? Would not be that hard to do, and lets face it, our government is not that good enough to stop someone from doing just that. Just my 2 cents.

Just saw a special on discovery. They assembled several Super smart people. They used ballistic Jell, With skeletons inside the jell. They also had a doctor without knowledge of the experiment preform a "autopsy" on the skeletons. They also asked a second doctor for his opinion of one bullet or 2 bullets involved in the shooting. They placed a sharp shooter 60 ft in the air. They allowed for 3 degree pitch of the road. and placed the "victims" in the exact same location as that fateful day. He took his One shot. The wounds were dead on right. He created 7 wounds with one bullet. The "autopsy" was real close to what jfk's was. They then asked an expert, if he were to testify would he say one or two bullets were involved in the shooting. He stated that there were 2 bullets involved. They then showed the footage of the one shot. The bullet itself had the same shape and form as the one at the jfk shooting. So in short. One shooter, the footage and recreation proves it. Sorry conspiracy buffs.

Yea give a new keyboard a shot see if that fixes it.

All this kinda makes me sad. Between the p2p and apple, People buying CD's is a thing of the past. Record company's are just about a thing of the past as well. Maybe that song had it right. Today is the day music died. How sad.

Anyone that hurts a child like this or other ways really needs justice served from the middle east. Say what you want. When it comes to dealing with crime, middle east justice is some hardcore well deserved punishment.

I feel horrid. Im so sorry my suggestion made things worse. Goodness vista was so not ready for the pc. I am at a loss at any more ideas. One more time. I am really sorry that did not fix the issue. I thought forsure that was the solution.

http://neosmart.net/blog/2006/vista-sound-drivers/ About 3/4 down the page you will find what I hope are the right drivers. see if that cures the problem. The link will not work right with opera, works fine with internet explorer. I just checked today. Used maxthon2 and the download was ready to start.
