So I made the jump to windows 10. I did a fresh install, had a time getting it to activate,but with google research, Finally found the right number, called microsoft, talked to some guy in india, but the guy was really nice, and he got the issues fixed. Kept saying my key was bad. 
I had done some research on windows 10 before I installed it, Did the custom install, shut everything off, Put in "startisback" Have two keys for that,one desktop, one tablet. It just turns your start menu into a windows 7 clone. Super happy, best 5 bucks I ever spent. Went with "ultimate windows 10 tweaker," Shut off more of the spy stuff, and put a few shell tweaks in there that I wanted. 
Really think Microsoft got this one right. Really impressed with it. So I got it all set up, backed it up with free version of reflect, and I am gonna keep a fresh install of windows backed up to. While yea, windows 10 will restore your computer, seems to take to much time imho. So if I need that fresh install, I will just use my backed up version. Over all. Pretty impressed. How goes your luck with windows 10???
 
 

The T.V. I have is a sanyo. I dont know, I sit about 2 or 3 foot from it. I paid 250 dollars that includes tax for mine. Nice thing about ol wall mart, You can try it, if always take it back. I know guild wars runs about 50 fps. No lag, not sutter. Both bat mans, not sure about the fps, but ran smooth looked amazing.
 
IMHO, games are like a big screen T.V. The big screen T.V. at first, well its just HUGE, then after you get used to it, you really don't notice it. Games are kinda the same way, at first, oh look at all the pretty cool stuff, then you spend your time running, jumping and trying to keep your cartoon alive you really don't have time to stop and look at the pretty stuff. If that makes sense. 
LOL, My T.V. runs 1360 by 768.
 
For the price, and So far the gaming experience, Super Impressed. Just played a bit of Nitro stunt racing. OMG, that was fun.
 
If gaming or whatever becomes a issue, I will replace it. I just find I am starting to game less and less, Reading more and more.

I hooked it up through HDMI, and my T.V. connection has HDMI, so a simple push of a button I can go from PC to T.V. with ease.

I am giving serious thoughts to going back to the flip phone. I hate this smart phone so bad. I don't need the computer part of it, Just wanna make some calls and text. Everyone says give it time, I will get used to it. I am not so sure, Considering I really don't use the net on it, don't think the anti virus is so important, I do thank you for the reply's.
 
The phone itself, Weill I only paid 40 bucks for it, I could not see paying a big chunk of cash for something I was unsure of. Now that I have it, glad I didn't.  I REALLY want my flip phone back. 

The funny part is I built this computer with my geek side in mind. Have the amd 8350 with 660 ti card and even have a slave drive just to put lynix on. Of course my computer is liquid cooled. LOL. 
 
Built it about a year ago, paid like 2 grand for it. Its still a beast, I don't really game any more, Don't geek any more. Just sits and collects dust. On the bright side, the ex gf is the one that paid for it. I just put together my dream build at that time, She saw it, sat down and ordered it. 

Finally got my connection fixed. Poor cable guy was here for over 2 hours. He was frustrated. It kept doing everything I said it did. Plug in the other computer, Modem crashes. Then when it does work it was REAL slow. 
 
He replaced just about everything. Started from the pole, to the house, to under the house, replaced all of it. Works great now. My game plays fine. No lag. 
 
So am I gonna change the settings. NOPE. Its not broke, i am not gonna fix it. 

IMHO, Ryan, the builds we just did are gonna last us a long time. With Desk Tops becoming a thing of the past, I THINK Intel and AMD are gonna start giving more attention to the mobile market, and us desk top users are gonna see upgrades to the cpu becoming less and less. Just wont see any big jumps in speeds IMHO.
 
Oh man, when I was debating my build, I was thinking of going with INTEL, so I did my research, Man the FANBOYS make it tough to make a informed choice. 
 
Websites that pick and choose what to benchmark so either AMD or INTEL look good, or bad. In the end, I went with AMD, but knew I needed a closed loop water cooler because it ran so warm. 
 
I only went with AMD is because it was less expensive, and placing my bets on it offered more long term value. The kicker is with the 8350, putting a closed loop water cooler on it, i could of got a Intel for that kind of money, So I really did not save much with AMD. 
 
Simply can not tell the future. That Intel build you put together is just SWEET. Think its gonna last you a long time and give you some great performance. 
 
I am not really a fan of AMD, or INTEL, I am a fan of what does the job I want, at a price I can afford. Always thought it was a Chevy vs Ford Debate. Both really nice, Both have the good and Bad, and one good power surge, and both chips are Toast. HA!!!
 
I used the big brother of the last build I made, which I used the Cool Master Storm Scout Mid Tower Case. Nice case, I find the carrying handle on both cases I own to be SO handy. 
 
Do agree with most, if you really wanna see your computer get snappy, put in a SSD.  You will Really notice a difference in a big way. 

While I just had a new big bad computer built, kinda wish I would not of done it, and it will be my last.  I truly wish I would of went with a new tablet. 
 
GF got herself a smart phone, after playing with it, thought man I want this without the silly phone. After seeing what all she can do with it, man why did I bother with a computer and saved money and hassle and joined the masses with a new tablet. 
 
So this computer, Its my last. Find myself enjoying simple games, not the complex ones anymore. Find myself getting away from my computer more and caring less and less about it. 
 
After 15 plus years of computers, and fixing em, building em, and hours of frustration. I have had enough. 
 
While I will always try to keep a desktop just in case, the days of having a monster are done after this one. Think i am just getting old, caring less about em, and burnt out on em. 
 
If someone would offer me a fair price for this one, I would sell it in a heart beat. Just in case you ask, 1500 would buy it, not trying to sell it on the net. 

I re checked just to make sure. Windows 8 is still so bad people are not even bothering to steal it. 

I do not remember who got such a tickle out of that when I said it the first time. Think they said they were gonna use it in there signature.

Well I place a order on Monday, and Waited, Called them on Wednesday to get a ruff idea when to expect delivery so I could be sure to be around,. No desire to have a expensive computer sitting outside for long. Did I mention, when I called a REAL person picked up the phone?? I even told the guy I was shocked, He laughed and said they get that all the time, they hate the  automated stuff as well. Push 1 for this 2 for that, Wait, Mess up, get the wrong department, then play the game again. 
 
They tell me its ready, gonna be shipped Thursday, Few hours later I get a e mail saying problem, should get a bigger power supply. I wrote back, complained, explained, and kept it polite. I then as nice as I could told them what I thought they should do to make it right. They should put in the bigger power supply I needed, and next day ship it.
 
I honestly never expect them to do anything but want more money, and be forced to wait even longer.  To my shock I got a email reply Thursday Morning, The guys simply said, I make no excuses, We dropped the ball on this build. We are gonna put in the bigger power supply you wanted and get it done and shipped today, we will next day ship it, and we will pay for it all. 
 
So never fear to complain, but be nice, don't be afraid to tell them what you think they should do to make it right, but keep it reasonable. If you do that, you may come out happy and smelling like a rose.

I am so sick of hearing the debate on new gun laws. Really, do people think new gun laws will have any effect??? All kinds of drug laws and that has done no good. 
 
IMHO, we need to put armed security in every school. Its the only way I think our kids and parents will feel secure. 
 
What really scares me is another colimbine type attack that may succeed. Did you know that that attack was a failed bombing attempt??? They placed propane bombs in various locations that would of taken many more lives. 
 
Thank goodness they were not smart enough to make them right, they never went off. If they had, Oh may the death toll would of been so much worse. 
 
We need to stop debating the gun issues, and start dealing with this new threat to our kids. Lets fix the issue instead of talking about it. Before its to late. 

While I am NO expert on this matter, Let me offer you my 2 cents. Cable Internet has been over selling for a long time. You share your connection with other users, How many I am not sure.

There is only so much bandwidth you and your fellow users can have. They keep upping the speeds without the ability or the actual bandwidth to allow everyone on that same connection to have that much speed.

Kinda like the auto bon in Germany. Sure everyone can go as fast as they want. Problem is, So many people are on that road, its impossible to go as fast as you want.

I blame Windows 7. For many years Microsoft was about the only game in town. We fought with Xp, Cried with Vista, and needed a smoke after Playing with Windows 7. Sure Windows 7 May be the Fat Chick of the Computing World now, But darn it, She does a Fine Job of taking care of our needs without lots of hassle.

We waited so Long for Windows 7, We are afraid to try something new, I mean really, Look at what we had to go through just to get TO windows 7. Now we are ready for a Smoke, and A Nice Nap, We will think about switching later. Oh we did hear Of windows 8, but when No one is even stealing it, We just find it better to stay with Windows 7.

My biggest thing, is working 3rd shift. On nights I have off, I still keep 3rd shift hours, but not much to do. Maybe putting up this thread kinda woke me up. Find myself not gaming as much, Gonna get rid of the New call of duty for now, Will pick it up later, I have the disks.

Started Reading more. LOVE to read.

Just really slowed down. Still love my Guild wars, But slowing down game play there as well. I guess the first step in fixing a problem, is admitting the problem is there.

You would think, if they are gonna make such a BIG change to windows, they would somehow get a feel for what the pc users thoughts on the new idea.

I guess no one every told them, if something is not broke (windows 7) Dont fix it (Metro).There line of thought just baffles me, Its like they are working for apple, or have hard feeling against the company and are doing there best to sink the ship.

Whats even more funny, When Microsoft puts out a new Operating system, people just HAVE to have it. The torrents and links and requests are just done by countless poor people.

Just dont see that with windows 8. Sure people are stealing it, just not NEAR the volume that was seen with previous Operating Systems.

So in short, its so bad, people are not even stealing it.

I am not real sure there is much hope for Microsoft. Even IF Gates were to make a return. People want portable, and that is just what Jobs gave them.

Now its up to Apple to keep a hold of the ball. There are many companies that are playing catch up.

IMHO, Think people are just sick of Microsoft. For to long they were the only game in town. Unless you went with a apple computer which was too expensive for most.

Once again, Microsoft was caught asleep at the wheel. They waited WAY to long to get into the tablet market. I also think people are just sick of Microsoft and ready for a change,

I always like to keep my stuff burned to DVD. I also Like to keep the right software "Just in case" a restore Goes bad. Lets be honest with windows......It happens......

One thing I always keep around Is "Driver Solution Pack". Its free. What it does is scan your computer and finds drivers you may be missing. While I do have all my drivers for my motherboard on disk, When I recently had to restore windows I simply had a horrid time getting the sound to work. Ran Driver Solution Pack, Found the missing driver, Worked fine. As far as using the Update the current drivers, thats a personal Choice, My motto, If its not broke, dont fix it.

Another program I use is called "Install Creator". Again Its free. Find the Location of the settings for your Fav Browser, Or music player, Normally, its un the C drive, User..User name, Roaming. Once I find the path, I simply use the "install Creator" wizzard, Back up and restore to the same path. Makes a Simple little EXE file, so you click on it and your settings are restored. What I do, Is test it, Make sure it works, Back it up, Add a couple of silly bookmarks, then hit the restore exe I made, The silly book marks should be gone.

I keep all my browser, and Winamp Play lists backed up using "install creator" Keep it burned to disk.

Hope others have some useful free software they use to restore windows.


IMHO, Like with "Driver Solution Pack". Keep it on disk, Only use it with a Fresh Install of Windows, and Only use it if something is not working. Using it to Update current drivers is not a good Idea, Only use it if something is not working and you can not figure it out. You were warned.

Oh WOW!!!!!!!!! What the heck did I get!!! Update, SOMETHING kept reinfecting my computer. It simply would be fine for awhile, then BAM!! I have no access to my external harddrive, No access to my Slave drive. It would show on my computer, Open the drive, Two small short cut files, Try to click on the one that says "show usb files", Says "winlogon.exe can not find specified drive. Heck of it is, I could access my external on the Laptop, Refuse to Move anything from the external, It could be infected.

I google the heck out of it, I know "winlogon.exe" is either infected, or bad.. So I cry a bit, scream FING WINDOWS!!!! i format the slave, the external and C drive, Start over!! So I spend HOURS puting everything back.

Oh, I reinstall windows 7, everythings cool, Sound won't work!! COME ON!! All my motherboard drivers are inistalled, Ran across a free program called "driver pack solution". Big file, Gotta torrent it. Try it,, Impressed with that program. Found the missing drivers, installed, reboot. SOUND WORKS!!

Thank goodness I keep the important stuff backed up to disk, Formatting the C drive was a trick, had to use Hirens, Now, If I EVER have to do that again, It will go much faster, Have Dvier Pack Souluton, have Hirens,

What I think happend, Got that nasty, While Removing the Virus, It messed up winlogon.exe. Maybe even another windows 7 file, I have a tiny usb external, My backup image will be kept on that JUST IN CASE,

Sorry NO WAY!! Am I going back to any Maxthon web site, Could of been any of the skins I tried, There are only 3 pages of them, I am willing to bet the Skin is gone, The Flameers swore it was not there skin, bet someone found it and got rid of it. I posted the issue in there forums, got flamed BAD, Wanna gess what I said back?? Involved the F bomb and few other choice insults, bet I got banned LOL!!

So I got a NASTY NASTY virus. I ran spybot, avast, trojan scanner, Hijack this, I tried them all, threw everything but the kitchen sink at it. Oh they found the problem, could not fix it.

Saw a post about micro trend housecall. Well its free, So its my last shot before a complete reinstall. Scan took 4 min, Found all the problems, Deleted them, Scanned a couple more times, the problem stayed gone.

What really really made me mad, I was being a good boy, I was trying maxthon browser, So I am installing a few skins trying them out.........Last one I installed. BAMMMMMMMMM.......Locked out of my computer, wanted 200 bucks to fix it. CRAP!!

Start in safe mode, Run all the anti virus I had, Nothing. CRAP!! They found it, Could not get rid of it. House call was the answer....

OOPS.....Forgot,. Yes I had a backup image.....Just knew if I restored the image the nasty would stay. I was gonna format the partition and reinstall windows.

I always wondered, as a dad myself, Why am I called a Mother, Yet I have never seen a mother called dad/father.

And remember, if your really really sick. NEVER EVER trust a fart. You will thank me for that later. HA!!!!!!!
