Sorry to bring up an old topic. [glow=red,2,300]DAMN YOU MICROSOFT![/glow] (note: glow text not working) I tried zone.com today and the games won't download. I get the following message: "Sorry, we were unable to install your game. Follow the instructions below. If you still have difficulties, click here to try to install again. " I clicked, got that same message, so I clicked it again and got this: "Sorry, we were unable to install your game. Click here for more help." After putting out XP SP2 M$ upgraded zone.com Now It seems like (at least to me) that you have to use IE in order to use the site.In their min. requirements only IE is listed. Does anyone know any way around this, or should I just slowly switch from M$ products to something better? I would have probably switched completely already, but you know, compatibity.

I have a Netgear FA311 NIC and one ove the settings is "receive buffer count". What does it mean? the current setting is 40.

First of all (Windows update problem below), I was cleaning out my sisters' computer yesterday which was loaded with spyware/adware. I got most of it cleaned out using updated Spybot S&D and Adaware but I still get some pop-ups. I ran a scan a www.pcpitstop.com and there a few programs it doesn't have any info about. Its an HP notebook with XPSP1: I am also having a problem with Windows Update. I can download the files from the site, but when I try to install them a message says "Installing...." then does nothing. No cpu or hdd activity. The comp. is XP Home with SP1 already installed. I ordered the SP2 cd just incase. Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

That's true too. But the advantage to using task manager is that you can see what percentage of your connection you are currently using. It can even help sometimes. One example I have is whenever I do the upload test in IE vs. Firefox, I noticed that FF had a steadier connection. IE kept going up and down, which is probably why IE is slower.

I think a upload bar would be good too. One way to check if anything is happening if you have win XP, open the task manager (Ctrl +Alt +Del) then click on the networking tab. That way you at least know that the test is working even if you don't know how much done it is.

Yep, I guess I am: When I tested this morning (Sometimes I test a few times a day) I got 3.Mbps.

A similer thing happened to me when I bought a laptop last year. I used my credit card when buying it at Best Buy and they included free 6 months of AOL (AOHELL) which I wasn't going to use. What I didn't relise is that they also signed me up with AOL. When I called to cancel the account they litterly begged me to stay too. They kept asking me to stay even though my parents already had an account. (don't ask, I keep trying to tell them to leave aohell)). I didn't mind listening to the aol rep beg though So I've learned from that experience, when you buy a computer or something else with 1 month free of aol, specficly ask the person at the store that you do not want aol. If you don't you may find a suprise on your credit card bill.

I can see the Karma score, but I don't see any buttons to click.

I'm sorry but I still don't get it. Where is this "[applaud]" button and why isn't there anything in the help section about it? Or should I just forget about it.
