  1. Update: Try some more tweaks by j79zlr. Click the link and go to the extreme end of the page. http://www.j79zlr.com/cablenutXP2k.php There you will find tweaks for: Faster page loading, Disable DNS Caching, Increase Buffer
  2. There are a few more tricks to eliminate problems of this kind. Two of them are: 1. Do not install QuickFix 2 2. Do not install IPV6 in your lan card properties. This protocol is being promoted by SmartBro techs and as purported by some disgruntled subscribers (oh no not me), that the operators have installed this remotely.
  3. did you install the QuickFix 2 software?
  4. @ mogramjo i know this is too good to be true. our ISP's advertised speed in the Philippines is merely 384 Kbps. i had my speed tested in a mirror but now i cannot find any "mirror" in the Download Test tab. Is there something wrong?

  11. Hey guys! I just authored a new topic, re: "20 Steps To Make SmartBro Faster" Check it out: http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=20438.msg232975;topicseen#new
  12. 20 Steps To Make SmartBro Faster 1. Download Cablenut http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Network-Tweak/CableNut.shtml 2. Install CableNut, restart PC after installation. 3. Go to http://www.speedtest.net/ 4. Note your download, upload & latency values in Kbps. 5. Go to http://www.j79zlr.com/cablenutXP2k.php,'>http://www.j79zlr.com/cablenutXP2k.php, don't forget to choose your connection carefully, then put your download, upload & latency values in the box provided. 6. Click "Compute Settings" 7. Click "CCS File Download", save the file to your desktop. 8. Go back to http://www.j79zlr.com/cablenutXP2k.php 9. Click TCP/IP Analyzer 10. Know your TCP Receive Window (RWIN) values, write down the values for "scale factor of 4" and "scale factor of 2". 11. Now, download the latest version of CCleaner http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner/ 12. Install CCleaner, Analyze and Run Cleaner to eliminate all unwanted and junk files in your HD. 13. Now open Command Prompt, type ipconfig /flushdns. 14. Exit Command Prompt. 15. Open the CableNut setting you saved on your desktop. 16. In the "DefaultReceiveWindow" box, change the current value to the value you wrote for "scale factor of 4" 17. In the "DefaultSendWindow" box, change the current value to the value you wrote for "scale factor of 2" 18. Important, see to it that the value for TCPMaxHalfOpen = 100, MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server = 10 and MaxConnectionsPerServer = 8 or 10 19. Click "Save to Registry", OK & Exit. 20. Restart PC Your speed must be optimized now. Test your speed http://www.testmy.net/tools/test/d_load.php This guide gave me almost twice the advertised smartbro speed!
  13. @ thugster_9904 good day too and get well soon! keep your posts coming.
  14. @ ketong whose cablenut setting did you use? or is it your own? congratulations on your improved speed!
  15. that's nice. would you mind showing to us your score?
  16. @ketong kindly elaborate what happened.
  17. @ glenns25 oops! as in the title, this forum is for Smart Bro (wi fi) and not for cox. you may post your score on the appropriate fora to avoid confusion.
  18. @ chocnut yes, that is absolutely fine. you are closer to smartbro's 384 kbps max throughput as advertised. however, you can read our posts in How to Tweak SmartBro Wi-Fi to improve your speed. Go ahead!
  19. there's a lot of users by these times of the day so its normal that your speed slows down. remember that smart bro is wireless and its speed therefore is intermittent. however, there is a little trick to make the speed closer to stable. few days from now, im going to post in my friendster blog all of my tweaks and tips based on available facts and personal experience. just hang on.
  20. For the benefit of those who do not know: 1) Jitter is an unwanted variation of one or more signal characteristics, such as the interval between successive pulses, the amplitude of successive cycles, or the frequency or phase of successive cycles. Your jitter is still in a reasonable level, but better if its lower. (Mine ranges from 3-1.) 2) RSSI is an initialism for Received Signal Strength Indication. RSSI is a measurement of the received radio signal strength (energy integral, not the quality). Really weird since your RSSI is below 500 yet you have that speed. (My RSSI is 970+.) I doubt if that is stable, unless you observe it for several weeks. Really weird considering that your power level is at -77 dBm, which is high compared to mine which ranges from 62-59. Per my friend who owns a net cafe, the greater the value of your canopy's power level is, the farther you are to the base station & the lesser the strength is; and a lower value means otherwise. Glad that you have that speed but there's always room for improvement.
  21. that is absolutely right.
  22. well, i guess you're downloading a lotta stuff already huh?
  23. hahaaa. good for you. i bet it's not gonna last for several hours. better get yourself ready for the extra bill. hehehe. just kidding.
