When you get your upgrade (monday) You wont want to use the 3500/386 settings you'll have to change them again >.< But im sure we can find the right combo again

Your getting just about your advertised speed. ( 4mb ; your getting 3.9 ) THats very good. As for the dsl reports report, Everything looks good. The reason your "not pingable" is because of the sp2 firewall, but thats not realy a problem. Personaly, id use the cablenut settings for 5000 / 386 Instead of the 4000 one. Never hurts to have a little extra room for the data (but thats just my own personal experence) Other then that your getting great speeds, amost right on cap.

Yes, same thing happened to my (grandmas) computer. She installed aol 9.0 and I.E stopped working completely. I checked the proxy settings and everything and for the lifer of me i couldnt get the damn thing to work. I honestly do not know what aol does to disable the I.E , but you can always check the proxy settings and make sure their on auto-detect by going to tools, internet options, connections. (as well as LAN options)

xp2 is installed on xp if you use the windows update feature. It is not necassary unless you REALY care about security... It has tons of added features to help keep it "secure" but i personaly (along with millions of others,lol) do not like it one bit.

I cant believe their are still bandwith limitations around Im on earthlink , have ran game servers, ftp servers, music streams, java chats, remote AIM chats ,etc. Iv had the comp on for 11 days straight with downloads and uploads going, about 600gigs down and 2 -> 300 up monthly.. Limitations are rediculous. If the isp cant keep the speeds due to their customers "using" the connection, then they need to drop the advertised speeds down so they can provide what they offer.

It does actualy, because within the time its pausing, the connection drops, then has to restart. Instead of it like gojng, transfer (data still being sent) to larger test, testing, it goes testing, transfer......pause...(connection drops, data stops) ....transfered , burst, low speed finishing the test :s But its not ALL the time, just every few times

lol thats not an error. If you hit "stop" or any other link while testing itll show that. THat is the "useless compressed data" that is being downloaded .

hm we have many cox users here, but there all from AZ . Thats most likely why your not getting replies But from what the users here have, most are getting much more then they pay for
