If you log in and wait just over 1 minute(60 seconds) before posting , any change? This was noted a couple of weeks ago. As there is a delay after logging in before you can post. So helps deter bots. Keep trying to post and the timer resets.

I liked Tommy Chongs version of jail myself. Went in and then hung around with the guys talking and shiat like that. He's wrote a book on it to. The I Chong: Meditations from the Joint allbusiness.com/retail-trade/miscellaneous-retail-miscellaneous/4404352-1.html War on drugs. War on file sharing. War on how many trees are cut down for your extra soft toilet paper. http://www.google.com/search?q=%22tommy%20chong%22%20jail%20experience&hl=en&ned=us&tab=nw

Should be in your WAN settings area. The specs say it's adjustable.

I remember hearing about those DVD's. Good for so many plays or a week/month, and then kiss it goodbye. Why anyone would want to buy(like a disposable rental) them is a mystery. Especially if the airtight package has an air leak and oxidizes the DVD before you have a chance to play it. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/10/05/ms_play-one_dvds/

Sometime is 2011 for WildBlue to get a new satellite. And sometime in 2012 for Hughesnet to get a new satellite. http://www.viasat.com/broadband-satellite-networks/viasat-1 No cranking up the power to be had. A certain amount of bandwidth available and I don't know how much they oversell each beam. So a 'X' number of bandwidth on the satellite and at least 20% of customer oversell to be a very rough figure. Since not everyone can be online at once, right? Your speeds are the standard 'PrimeTime slowdown'. So avoid any new contracts in case you have a good wireless provider setup one day.

Who's the satellite ISP? Wildpoo or Hughesnet. And if Hughesnet, which satellites? The old KU bands with satellites that have electrical issues and can get overloaded with users. Or the KA band is the new(one year old) Hughesnet satellite. WildBlue has two satellites and some 'spot beams' are oversold and slow down between about 5pm to 10pm or maybe to midnight. You are being fed a tremendous line. And these companies feed it to everyone who have not read many, many reviews on just how these companies operate with speeds and such. You will be blamed for slow speeds. Or your router will be blamed. Or your security software will be blamed. But if your dish is installed well, there should be little problem, except for the amount of users online at once. Norton can slow down 'your machine', but not the Internet connection for the most part. There are some exceptions occasionally. I don't know if the 'bloat' of Norton has been reduced, but it has been known to be a resource hog. Not scanning your emails is a bad thing if you get an infected email. A scanner can slow down your email coming in, but usually with large attachments. The firewall should automatically setup to allow safe programs access to the Internet. If the FireWall blocks your browser, you can't surf, simple. But the FireWall is there to block outgoing programs, as well as incoming programs(Windows firewall is only for incoming). 1 Gig of memory should be good for XP. For Vista it is minimum 1 gig. I have an old system that is slow due to it's age(about 10 years old) and traffic is choking through the mother board. Here are some reviews to learn the system for either company. http://www.consumeraffairs.com/internet/wild_blue.html http://www.consumeraffairs.com/internet/hughes.html Well at least you keep above about 512Kbps. It's not fair to go down one or two package levels , but users are not rebelling enough to get the Government to actually listen about these business practices. You bought a speed of 1Mbps to 1.5Mbps 24/7. You should not have to accept being defrauded of speeds and defrauded of money. A.M. speed test are the scam time to do the speed tests. It is the time that the installers will use to quote the speeds on satellite. At another forum, they post only the am speed test times to 'white lie' to the future users. Some satellite ISP 'approved' speedtest sites are a scam and the satellite provider will prioritize the speed test traffic to the site. Or the speedtest is only to the NOC, which only gives your speeds between you and the NOC and not the Internet. Some people spend many dollars to upgrade their computers and see no difference in speeds. And only run one anti-virus and one firewall at a time, otherwise there may be a conflict. The weather excuse is either, it's cloudy over your house or it's cloudy over the NOC(satellite down/up link).

The usb flash drive may of failed. If there is no data on it to lose. In XP, click start, then right click my Computer, click manage, Click disc management, then if your usb drive is there, then you can try to format it(right click it). Be cautious as to not format your hard disc... If it's dead, it still won't format. Also try the drive out in another computer to see if there is a usb flash drive driver error or corruption. If the drive is older, it may have a little slider on it that makes the drive write protected. Maybe someone else has some tips, for recovery of lost files on it. -
Does your ISP offer a 'Modem only' unit. Usually they are given to business customers who have their own routers. I have a Thomson Speedtouch modem for my DSL from Telus and it's great. Since the original combo unit of the Siemens Gigaset died, due to firmware issues. The Thomson is good to at least 15Mbps speeds. I am going to guess the combo unit you have(speedstream 6520) is not able to sync on your line and falls back to a stable sync speed. Your speeds stay in two general areas in your speed tests, which leads me to that. I don't like these combo units, but they are used so call support does not have to deal with a customers own router unit. I have not used your model, but there should be an interface in the modem to see what speed the line is syncing at in it's log file and if it is falling back to a slower sync(speed). Reboot to get a fresh log file.

In sure do hate it when people just except that' Up To' bull shiat of an excuse. The service better be within 80% to 90% of the top quoted number for the package. Unless they do the 1.5Mbps to 6Mbps DSL rating, meaning that depending on location for those speeds. So have you unplugged all other phone line devices and then done a speed test? Have you plugged the DSL modem in to a different phone outlet? If possible, can you plug directly into the Demarcation point. The outside box, if you know how to get into it and it has a phone plug connection that you open up to disable the entire house, just leaving that plug live. This is too check for a bad wire in the house that can cause trouble, such as a short. If you are on the edge of DSL. You are screwed. But consider yourself lucky that you don't get disconnects. But the phone guys can remove some bridge taps, etc. on your line in the street, to make it shorter in some cases. And the easy one. You don't plug a DSL modem into filter. You plug into the phone outlet itself. filters are for phones, so there is no interference on the DSL.

Some of these free dialup places harvest your data. But this one actually says, it isn't harvesting anything. I do like the part about not needing any damn software to use the service.

Nice little program. But did have one false/positive. But the 30MB update for definitions hurts a bit, but only because their servers are not as fast as me. These virus's that block programs from launching tend to be hardcoded to the main stream type anti-malware programs. So for now this one slips on by. -
But one day file sharing will be perfectly legal. Or legal in a sense, as long as the Fat Cats are living it up in the South Pacific on their own Islands. The recording Industry that is. Only the oldest Artists have any money to do that. And they bought while the prices were still cheap. http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/1532648/music-industry-calls-filesharing-tax Note that in the story, is that Artists are 'living off of the tax' on recordable media. Well after all it is Canada. We subsidize the crap out of Canadian content makers. Which we already pay for with a tax on our TV service. O look. Another dollar a month on our TV bill starts this month. AWESOME. The Tax number that is thrown around is $1 a month(but could go higher to about $10 a month). Even if you don't fileshare. It's an unfair tax. But as Canadians, we have to take it up the wazoo, cause it's good for us as a country and for our Heritage. The story also notes that it would open the door for other companies to put their hand out and also impose a tax. So if you resell that laptop, well there will be a resell tax for that. If you resell your older car, another tax. Put your possessions in a consignment shop to pay all these taxes, well another tax on the sale of your stuff. On a side note. In BC we are going to be getting a Harmonized tax. Which is the combination of two taxes that exist(provincial and GST). But doing this will cause a lot of products and services that did not have taxes, to now be taxed. And what does our BC Government get to do this? O about 1 billion dollars from the Feds, which is probably money that is still owed to us from all the years that we sent money back east and hardly got out fair share back. Some countries have a 50% personal type tax. But everything is paid for like healthcare and jail time,etc.......

Some forum sites ban links to any other forum. But I do sneak in links to the ThunderBird email forum. And of course with the explanation that no one on the forum has your answer for such a specific product and question. Then some sites ban links to product pages where the prices are. But how in the hell can you direct someone to a specific product and price without digging into a useless Makers site. Now the reason for the ban is that the product site is not a paying advertiser on the forum. So no free advertising. And here Signature spam advertising is banned. And if I find an answer via Google. I post the answer. Which can be a compilation of many correct answers.

Maybe your wish gets granted. This is so freaking awesome. An Artist smacks the recording industry in the nut sack. He had a deal for 7 albums, but Sony decides to make a 8th album(outside of contract), out of unreleased material that they were just holding on to. http://torrentfreak.com/sony-music-office-raided-090907/

Well if you are good at finding things. Here is HiJackThis. http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/ It is a scanner that tells you what is running on your system. Two versions. One is an installer and the other is an executable. Then you use this online scanner http://www.hijackthis.de/ to tell you what each object found means. Then you can search out the infected files. Can you install Avast Anti-Virus? And scan with it. http://avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html Free also. And also Ad-Aware free version. http://lavasoft.com/single/trialpay.php And SpyBot search and destroy. http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html Hopefully one of them can get installed. And scanning. But you can also go into safe mode to maybe prevent the malware from running at startup. Start up Items are found in ,,,, Which is start, click run, type in msconfig , then click startup and if you recognize any nasties, uncheck them. But be careful. Otherwise your system may not start if you uncheck the wrong thing. -
Xplornet is a re-seller of Hughesnet(and Telesat). Since our glorious Government refuses to let Hughesnet do direct business in Canada. So Xplornet has made quite the captive market of satellite Internet users. It's pretty well like no competition, since any other reseller is small or business only and some have Xplornet as the call support.

http://pack.google.com/intl/en/pack_installer.html Spyware Doctor free version that does remove 'Some' of infections. Just uncheck the rest of the stuff and only download Spyware doctor. The only thing I don't like about Google's programs is the 'Automatic updater' add on. And what I and others don't like about the full version(as opposed to Googles Starter Version) of Spyware Doctor, is that it does not remove for free what it finds. So it makes people buy and buy. Some call it a scam, since it mirrors the fake spyware scanners that magically pop up in your browser and then demand payment for the fake infections that they find. Heres another free anti-malware scanner and cleaner. SuperAntiSpyware. Anti-Malware http://www.superantispyware.com/ -
Can you adjust the MTU settings in the router? Maybe try 1488 at the Maximum first and work downwards. Or maybe the routers firewall may be an issue? Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stateful_firewall

You may have to do a reinstall of MalWareBytes to get it to work again, as per a post from someone, from a few weeks ago. and look in your Add/remove programs for the program of Ask.com toolbar and uninstall it. If that is the possible reason for the search preferences blocking. -

Free. download and install and update and scan. MalwareBytes. Thats an interesting point, which this Wiki article from the UK defines. So the plaintiff calls in the police on 'false grounds'(which is actually a court punishable offense. But since it's the UK....). The police find no 'trademark infringement'. But the Plaintiff uses the situation to further their own goals in an apparently illegal way. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federation_Against_Copyright_Theft http://www.legalcybertips.com/Copyrights/Is-Copyright-Violation-A-Crime.html The underlined part is interesting. Since most file sharing is for recreational use and not for commercial gain. Even though giving something away for free is an advantage(but not commercially based). Some more sites. http://www.google.com/webhp#hl=en&source=hp&q=copyright+violation+crime&aq=f&aqi=g1&oq=&fp=d9ca629f83f82f8a So we need a law that says if you copyright infringe, it would be a misdemeanor. Maybe someone could Email the Cyber Czar?

As long as no one else can hear the radio, otherwise thats a public performance and you owe the CopyRight Mafia more money. The CopyRight Mafia did say having the radio on in the office is a 'public performance'. Even though Judges disagree. http://www.google.com/webhp#hl=en&source=hp&q=office+radio+public+performance&aq=f&aqi=&oq=&fp=d9ca629f83f82f8a Ah. Heres the link to one story from the UK. http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20090327/1113014276.shtml

Was just reading a story on 'District 9' and the million or so downloads of a DVD quality version, in 24 hours. At least the movie was made with a reasonable budget of 30 million dollars. So they have made a decent profit. A hundred grand at the theaters, was pulled in. But a million DVD copies equals about, at roughly $30 per copy, well $30 million. Plus gas, tickets and tolls to get it. Don't know how much of a cut, the makers of the movie get from each disc. There is a battle on release times for movie DVD's. But second class movie theaters don't want the DVD release to be in a months time from the original showing. But rarely do the Feds ever find the person who released the original copy into the Torrent world. And if they find the person, is there any real jail time? Some companies try to mark the copies, but I'd guess some of these copies are from pre-made to market DVD's. So is that another outsourced company in China? Remember the days when someone went into the theater with a video camera? And made the most crappy copy around. Music Concerts tried to ban video cameras. Then along came camera phones....... The comment from the story of the user who can't wait for the DVD release is just being lazy. http://torrentfreak.com/pirates-jump-on-district-9-torrents-090906/
