  2. get this fixed first. When you put in the OS disk and boot from that. Once in the setup, click the blue apple, or file, and look for disk utility. Once in there right click your hard drive, then click erase. if it asks for what you want to format it as use Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

  10. Actually with programs like kismac, and a few others that i will not mention. its extremely easy. WEP is a joke, it can be broken in less then 10 minutes. WPA is what you want to use. Turning off SSID broadcast doesn't make you any more secure because programs like kismac find it instantly. All you need is a good strong WPA password. Anything else can be broken extremely easily with just one or two programs.

  13. I was having a problem like this as well on vista. Try giving your self a static IP. and also update your network card drivers if there are any new ones.
  14. It is, The Stack learns the more you use it. It doesn't do the best job, but it works.
  15. If you could find a lid, you could replace it. there is maybe 10 screws for it. Once you get the LCD off from the bottom of the notebook they are actually very easy to take apart. If its still covered by HP go that route they will fix that.

  19. Depends on how much you want to spend. A macbook pro is real nice. the Apple store is the best place to get it but other sites sell them too, like newegg. If you purchase it at newegg you have the advantage of no tax. apple store your going to have tax
  20. You can't run Mac OS X on a windows notebook. You have to buy a mac to run OSX
  21. Nice speed.... Whats your upload? Thats nice that they support IPv6. But no host on the other end does, so it doesn't help yet.
  22. jeffwalker9999 i was thinking of something else If its running leopard, and i think this also works for tiger (can't remember) Go to system preferences, network, click the network card, then click advanced, and then click "wins" at the top. If thats not there and you can't find it in the network section, ill look around for were it is in tiger.

  24. A word of advice, don't use sony vegas. This is the biggest problem with sony vegas, there are very few manuals, and tutorial's out there for it, so its really hard to learn. Since your windows I would lean adobe premier pro, its more widely used and there is a ton more information out there for it.
