  1. No you really do need that much, epically with all the large downloads, and the new web apps that are coming around. You really need a fat pipe. And with bandwidth being so cheap now they can afford to give a 20mbps connection. But it will come back to bite them in the ass one day because verizon doesn't exactly have a lot of spar bandwidth in there network.
  2. post a speedtest result
  3. What kind of BS is that. Every hotel that I have stayed I was never asked to give the keys back, and ive stayed at a lot of hotels. They make great tools.
  4. you never keep your hotel key? Or a old credit card?
  5. You probably already have a thermal pad on it. That has become the standard because the are easy you don't have to do anything. That new heat sink you picked out has a thermal pad on it already.
  6. i'm not a big fan of arctic silver as well. I prefer the thermal pad. The problem with the silver is it breaks down over time, it takes about 2 weeks to get fully active, but then starts to break down after that. i would get the heatsink you picked out ninjageek and keep the thermal pad. they are much less hassle.
  7. If that happened then you are getting high and low spots which is bad. It should not be squeezed towards the edges. If it is squeezing past to the edges that means you have way too much force on that motherboard. There should be almost no force put on the CPU, The heatsink should be almost just resting on there, thats why you use thermal paste so it fill in the gap, you don't smash it down like your doing there.
  8. Your suppose to spread it around. That entire surface gets very hot. And if you don't spread it around then it doesn't fill in the voids in the metal. The thermal paste is designed to transfer heat from one peace of metal to another by filling in the voids and getting perfect contact
  9. Do not use rubbing alcohol... you will destroy the heat sink. Since the heatsink has a thermal pad already on there, i would recommend keeping that, they are better then thermal grease because the cover the processor more evenly. But if you want to use thermal grease use a razor blade to scrape off the thermal pad. Wipe the surface with something abrasive then apply the new thermal grease. When you apply the thermal grease just put a little dab on it, then spread it around the bottom plate evenly. If you do not put enough you will have thermal problems, if you put too much it will come out of the sides and give you a whole bunch of problems that you don't want. Look at how the thermal pad is on there try and get it that same size, about a 1/16 of space on each size.
  10. Na its mac only, but read something when 1.5 first came out and they did performance benchmarks with a ton of browsers, mac and windows and camino 1.5 was the fastest of them all. And i'm very surprised that Mozilla hasn't ported it to windows and or done the performance tweaks they did for camino in firefox because it is a night and day difference. Camino has actually been like a testbed for firefox because if you look at what they are doing with firefox 3 some of the stuff is already in camino as far as look and feel.
  11. that is a very old test, there test hardware is so slow. Camino 1.5 is actually the fastest browser around, and i don't know why Mozilla doesn't do what they do in that for firefox.
  12. You would have to have a ISP that supports modem bonding. and i do not know of any that do it anymore.
  13. you can't spare 40 bucks? Are you looking for that $9.99 special? will $4.99 work for ya lol http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126002
  14. i liked the original MX1000 mouse. tho, i have always found logitech speakers to sound like crap... I love my good old cambridge soundworks speakers. I haven't heard any PC speakers sound better.
  15. I'm not a big fan of the g15 to me it is just ugly. I do love my g5 though, i use it everyday at work, its the prefect 3D max mouse. I do like logitech's MX revolution mouse. I'm going to be getting one soon, hopefully.
  16. If it did damage to the motherboard it could very well have. If it gets hot enough it will melt whats around the processor. If it smells burnt it probably is.
  17. most like if there was damage to the motherboard then anything that was plugged into it, (except the hard drive, power supply, and optical drive) are fried from most likely a short that would happen. So look to replace your motherboard, processor, and ram. you may also have to replace your video card. Just because the fan tunes on doesn't mean that the card is working. If your motherboard is not damaged then everything is fine except the processor.
  18. First off 23 meters is not a short distance. Its 75 feet, 1/3 of the distance of just about every router. That is so wrong its not even funny.... Do you have any idea of how many wireless signals there are around you at any given time? Even if they are not 2.4Ghz the will still interfere with the 2.4Ghz signal. You may also have a clear line of sight to the antenna, but that doest mean a clear radio line of sight because every day things around you will create a los in signal. The grass on the ground will even cause interference. And most people have a neighbor with 2.4Ghz and that will also mess with yours
  19. :haha: if that catches on youz and me are gonna have words
  20. I hope not. Its impossible to code a good looking website for it.
  21. any reason why you only use 800x600

  23. go as high as you can 320kbps. But if your MP3 player will support it go with lossless.
  24. I would normally know but powerpc its out for me. I stayed away from powerpc macs. But if you can get a 10.5 or higher OS X disk you could do it using the built in partitioner. Or a copy of open suse will do it also i believe.
  25. This wouldn't be such a big issue if the dedicated server hosts would stop giving 500+ ip address with each server. They are the big problem. I don't know of anyone that needs 500 ip address for one server. That better stop real soon, or everything needs to get changed to ipv6 real fast.
