upgrade your processor first. Go to a core 2 duo, a 8800 will be held back quite a bit by the P4
-
yes. It would connect to any router. The router doesnt care or even know that your using a mac.
-
training :haha: yea right. Highschool is the best time of your life. Everything after ( with the exception of getting marred and having kids ) is crap because everyone is trying to screw you out of something.

what dell were you looking at?

If you did want to go mac for under $1000 you could get one of there apple refurbished macbooks which are exactly like new for $949 http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?nplm=FB061LL/A

$1000 isnt really enough right now. After Friday IDK there are some saying there is going to be a new much cheaper macbook, but its not definite. right this second go with the intel toshiba you got there its a really good notebook for the price. If they do come out with new macbooks for around $800 or so with the leopard launch then i would get that.

Get a Mac. Everything you want to do is perfect for a Mac. The problem with the AMD toshiba is the AMD processor, there mobile stuff is total crap when compaied to intel, they are far slower in every way, and they are not even close in the efficiency department. The mac would be perfect for you. Photoshop CS3 is a dream on the Mac. As well if you get into video final cut pro is just awesome.

i'm not sure, but i'm going to guess that the 700s is.

But if not, stay away from the sony, and the AMD toshiba. The core 2 duo is by far the best processor in a notebook the AMD Turion 64 its total crap. The 2GB of ram is a must. Vista just isnt very good with 1GB. Don't really count on getting 3 - 4 years out of just about any sub $1000 notebook these days. You could probably count on 2 years. It will likely break after that. But notebooks are getting so cheap one every 2 years isnt bad EDIT: the intel toshiba also has N wireless which is a very nice extra.

The problem with that is the resolution is real low, 1366x768 most likely. the 28's there are 1920x1200 PC monitors are much higher quality then TV's of the same size.
-
its time to get rid of your CRT When they loose a color, more are sure to fallow real soon. EDIT: are you also sure that you didn't kick the cable and break a wire in it. Ive seen that happen a ton of times.
-
wow never knew anyone made a 27 1/2 inch monitor lol... I'm defiantly going to go take a look at that.
-
So very true.... Once you switch to a Mac you don't go back to PC's. Something about that UI just sucks you in. I think its the genie effect, or Expos

same here. I can't wait for this, there are so many cool things in it that I want.

One of the biggest problems with speedtest.net is the test servers that they are provided are mostly from ISP's and are on that ISP's network and if your not on that your result will be slower. Testmy.net has the advantage of being on a network that has 8 bandwidth providers so you are likely to find one that has a good connection with your ISP's network. The reason that your result is so slow has nothing to do with speedtest.net, its because they switched to some crappy voip provider for the test server in dallas. It use to be a really good server, then swiched to FDN and was still good, but the VOIP one they are using now sucks. I can't get faster then 2mbps try a differnet server

I havent used the DirectTV DVR but i have installed the tivo series 3 HD DVR quite a few times and its actually really good. The quality was much better then i thought it would be, real nice interface and quite. I really liked it. I just wish they would put a bigger hard drive in these things tho, you only get about 30hrs of HD with the tivo.

Do you have quick time installed?

I am looking to get a new monitor, the 22" I have now is just way too small. So i'm looking at a 28" monitor. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824254026 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824116084 Ive had Hanns.G monitors before and they are really good, never had one problem with them, and they have great picture quality. I really like the viewsonic aswell. But i'm wondering if anyone has ever used or see either of these monitors. I can't find anyplace hear that has them so I can look at them, I always like to check a monitor out before I buy it.

Been awhile since ive done anything along these lines in win 2k3 and don't have one to test right now but if i remember correctly for #1 right click on my computer and click manage, and then look around in local users and groups. I don't remember everything but i'm pretty sure that is where it is.. for #2 right click on my computer and click map network drive. setup the drive and have reconnect at logon checked. i am somewhat sure that if you do this under 1 user in win 2k3 it will only happen on that user account. If anyone knows of any other ways to do that plz post, i stay away from windows server so i'm not completely sure if that will work.

to put it short it involved my account taken over and like $2200 in various changes. So needless to say i don't do ebay anymore. If I really want/need something i buy it through my brothers account, but don't sell on there anymore.

I pre-ordered one for work that coming Friday, And I'm going to swing by my apple store on my way home to get one, and if I could find someone to buy my current iMac i might just buy a new 24in IMac

I know that, but when you over clock your processor you over clock everything else and most of the time other parts are not going to scale that well. You take a huge risk with other things when you jump 1200Mhz
