Welcome to the forum realnerd! What tweaks have you used? Or have you not started yet? Those speeds may be typical peak hour speeds. BTW, Direcway is having trouble on many satellites tonight...

It actually only goes out during a really hard rain or heavy snow... I've tried repointing it myself, but can only get to 52 (it goes up in the morning, down in the evenings). I think there's a tree partially in the way, so that's messing with my signal a bit...

I wish I could switch, but our contract just got renewed a couple months ago. Maybe I'll just stick with Direcway. You'll probably have to wait until Wildblue gets more customers until you get an idea of how it compares with Direcway, I have little doubt that it will probably be faster and more stable than Dway, but who knows.

The best thing I can do is probably demand them to move to a different transponder... I tried to register on the AMC3 1250 today and I would be getting a 64 signal (rather than 47), but when I reboot the modem after registering, it just goes back to the 1150. Oh well, I guess I need them to change it.

I don't think I went down, I stayed connected to AIM while I was at school and I never got kicked off. So maybe I wasn't affected. I'll probably have to wait to call support about my failed transmits, they'll blame it on the satellite problem...

I downloaded something today and was getting 130kb/s, so I still think it's a speed burst.

That's much more accurate... Still a very nice speed with the 6000. I wouldn't test too often with the test, though. It will waste your FAP.

Because Direcway pretty much "caps" out at 1.1mbps or 132kb/s on the pro and consumer packages for the 7000. I've never seen a 6000 get that high either.. It caps out in the 120kb/s area. You can get higher, but you have to be on either the small businness pack or the businness package. And if they are, then that's definately not a speed burst, but if you get speeds like mine on the pro, it has to be a speed burst. If I was getting faster, then there has to be someone else getting faster as well. (I quote caps because it's not really capped, it just doesn't go faster than that.)

failed / successful transmissions... so like my successful transmissions is at 40836 right now and my failed transmissions is at 2083. Divide failed by successful and you get a percentage, that's what I meant.

Actually, it just went to "All files are up-to-date.". Surprising that Direcway is actually working on something tonight... Maybe they're trying to fix the peak hour problem?
