  1. Depending on what firmware version it's running you would be looking at the dashboard objects, specifically 'Real Time Monitor' , which can be broken down into exactly what the users are accessing, from twitter to youtube, documents ect... You can also check interface traffic, if more than one VLAN, wireless, or other connections run to the switch. The switch could also have QOS or filtering to manage how much bandwidth each interface is allowed. But first I might find out how much of the available bandwidth is being utilized. If you do not have a server for anything now and business is not using some secondary means, ie: dropbox to get documents to clients, you could simply use what comcast offers with most business class lines.
  2. First thing I might do is get some sorting done on your LAN, in other words get something going which explains IP's and traffic data, ports and more or less what is passing through your network. What are you using at the moment to control the situation ie: windows, linux,BSD a switch, one or more even any combination of these or a plethora of other technologies are handling the basics. Find this out and then we can determine what options we have.
  3. Several times. As soon as i save a password, as in the old school way in the keychain through the browser, with no obvious warnings, iCloud saves the passwords. After in which you must log into iCloud, and stop saving passwords, which of course deletes your saved passwords. Now on el crapiton, I've never logged into iCloud, what a mess. I don't want this tripe in my day lol
  4. One of you that uses iCloud, would you bother explaining to me how to stop this abomination from storing passwords. Now I've only been a full time mac user for maybe 8 or 9 years, so tread lightly please. I do not use iCloud, for anything, however even turned off, or not signed in on the latest OSX version whatever is forcing this tripe to dig into everything is splooging all over my day. I've never had to be so concerned with stopping everything I do or save, or places I frequent from being saved on someone else's networks, 'in my best interest' Is there a way to stop the madness?
  5. The first thing that comes to mind would be to check all extensions and add ons.
  6. Nothing like Yosemite thus far. (In terms of pure slow muck) I've not done much of anything as of yet though. What I have done, more or less TMN only, Safari is vastly more efficient. Have to wait a few days before I have the chance to really push it. Such as having photoshop, coda, a few shells open ect, I was considering adding 2 more gigs to the current four, guess this old bastage can handle 6. Not found a 4gig stick for less than ~50 bucks = not gonna happen.
  7. 'Optimizing your mac' = fans kicking' chicken' but that does not scare me. See how it does after I have a few programs open.
  8. That is what I meant to say haha Hey, only 'About 21 minutes remaining'
  9. iSokay, I'm getting down with it anyhow. Some good some not so much on the reviews, either way, I'm always up for a challenge
  10. Watching this escapade somehow reminds me of waiting for a boobie pic to come in to the centerpieces back in the early dial up days
  11. Only, 27 minutes remaining
  12. So how long is 30 minutes in your world? Restarted and stated 'Installing: About 31 minutes remaining' This was 13 minutes ago haha
  13. I see they fixed the 'one minute remaining' , by starting out the update at well, one minute remaining LMAO Welp, clicked restart, lets hope it does.
  14. Welp it's downloaded and I'm about to click doitotit: more to come
  15. Do whatcha gotta do @tdawnaz :)
  16. Digging around, made this a couple years ago ;P
  17. There are a quite a few people here with great wireless experience under their belts, I'm certain they will have more info than myself. Wireless does not necessarily 'have' to be slower. What wireless router do you have, and what settings concerning 'N bg' ect are you using. Also take note of the possible bandwidth hogs that could be residing in secret on you slower machine. Many things can effect speeds, including hard drives, memory, good cables, amongst a few.
  18. This post requires a +1 like times ten interwebz button
  19. Have you used the testmy.net multithreaded tests? With this tool, you can set specific server locations to further pin point the slow connection. Interesting idea ISP's have on their placement of said flash speed tests, as they are a direct link from you, simply to them. Which does not at all show any representation of what speeds the end user has the ability to achieve, in real world applications. Who knows what type of configuration filters are set, after the speed testing node at the ISP. Many, for certain. You'll see peering issues come out when attempting to stream, or the specific QOS settings they might give to timeframes, or vendors across the network. Furthermore , the ISP is specifically looking for issues within it's own network, and completely ignore who they are peered with, which is some of the most vital connections on the net itself.
  20. @CA3LE should be able to give you a concise answer to this possibility. Please check back frequently.
  21. Welcome @Forrito , exactly how many of us arrived here to begin with Don't forget, you can run an auto-test , say for 24 hours to find out when the best/worst times are as well.
  22. The 2008 mini ram is max @ 4 gigs and a C2D right? If so that is the one I'm more interested in. Considering those are the specs the mid 2007 MBP has. Which the machine will run Yosemite, but it's not reasonably usable. The problem eludes me, the GUI is sluggish to the point of agony after just a few minutes of runtime. I chalked it up to memory leakage. True or not I have no proof. So capitan could be viable. Just don't care to go through all that if it's going to need re imaged with 10.9.5 again.
  23. What is your experience with El Capitan thus far, and what machine(s) are you sucessfully running on? The older the better.
  24. Hi Loren, The packet loss would be the discussion between your local network and the specified testing server, as you state this is a peering issue that could be the result of a multitude of reasons. Any time there is packet retransmission it will effect the performance of the line. You might do well running the testmy.net auto test for at least 24 hours to get more detail as to if this is a permanent issue or an overload issue between networks.
  25. Would you mind running a few small tests for us to have a look at?
