Fan freaking tastic LMAO My vote is best thread of 2015 thus far

I hear what you are saying, so considering were getting to 'that point', where people are getting split wide open connections for those results at and over 100Mbps Tx, anticipating this will take quite some time before even a noticeable percentage of connections can run like this, implementation of a detection device might be presentable. Say a connection comes in at +/- 50% + to the average, program places this in a special database, which should have built in ability to be merged in say X# of years when many more are testing in that range. This way the results stay clear and real. Does that spark anything off in you?
-
Something is skewing the results? Likely the several recent wide connections? The question is, then to keep the results sane how to detect a higher level throughput and in some way separate this from the average. So which one is it, 8.4 upload or 32.4 ?

Have you insured something within your network is not causing the issue, by removing as much of the internal network as possible, such as bypassing the wifi unit, even disconnecting it completely for time being. Check all terminations making sure nothing is lose or defective Test directly from the modem, are the results the same? Reset any custom modem properties Run a modem reset, 30-30-30 : while powered on, hold the reset button for 30 seconds, while continuing to hold the reset button, remove modem power, continue to hold the reset button for 30 seconds, introduce power to the modem and continue to hold the reset button for an additional 30 seconds. results?

Speed Test Stats -- ALL ISP PROVIDERS ARE ACCEPTED IN THIS POST!
mudmanc4 replied to ajb62787's topic in Show off your speed
Yes, when an ISP tech is testing the connection to the head end he might want something internal, agreed' However that is not a normal test of usability over peers, which as we know is how the 'interwebz' route data. Therefore we are speaking of entirely different reasons for testing , as well as theories. For the tech to say he cannot use this site because it's out of the system, in his instance he is absolutely correct. You want the span of possible problem nodes reduced to their bare minimum, insuring each hop is confined to the ISP network, therefore indicating whether or not the issue resides within the ISP infrastructure, or elsewhere. Once the ISP line and network has been ruled out as trouble making, you can then move on to speculation and more testing or real world situations. Such as the tests testmy.net supplies. -
Ha, that's fantastic! Great catch. I have seen that maybe a thousand times and never noticed it.

Hi, I noticed an oddity after running tests on here

Site admin (ca3le) will surely get to you asap on this. -
Right, never heard of it until someone mentioned it. (tweetdeck) As far as the dial-up sounds, I grabbed a BSOD png (set as desktop image) and turned off explorer, ran the dial-up sound on the wifes machine last night, LMAO she was all over the pace yelling through the house as I watched. Funny as shit

The Cisco 3939 5 Ghz Wireless sucks
mudmanc4 replied to spudler_t's topic in XFINITY (Comcast Cable Communications)
Correct me if I'm mistaken, but is not the 5Ghz channel generally used as a secondary 'personal' channel, or 'public' channel? -

mudmanc4 replied to spudler_t's topic in XFINITY (Comcast Cable Communications)
me, I can't stand wireless. Sure it's useful for mobile devices and all, but for work in the office? No way no thanks. Sounds as if you have some serious channel overlap going on. -
Yes, tweetdeck is up most the time on one layer of a monitor during the week. I never used it for anything else, in fact just found it a few months ago. I do not care for refreshing constantly and that app solved it for me. Since FB is trash imo I would not have used it before. I don't really do much social media, I get nothing done when I go there. And yea, I miss that sound, bigtime.

I have experience with Systems such as Nortel Avaya w/ meridian, call pilot ect therefore I would be of no more assistance than you reading the manuals and relaying information. Each set (internal extension, leading to a physical phone) will need to be setup, including appear, ring, ring on line, default line, dial out, mailbox auto attendant, ect ect ect..... all authorized for specific functions and times. Programmed line to button on set? Have you tried dialing 81 for outside line? No lock on set as of yet?

I started an auto download test, 15 minutes x 100 tests on XP SP3 IE 8.0.6001 with no problems. (will leave it run) I would start first checking addons and extensions to the browser, turn them off until the test works.

So the next question is, how far into the basic hardware install are you

Hi eptis, I am a bit surprised, as a PBX is generally not plug and play by any means. There is a huge learning curve. I've never worked on this particular system though I dare to bet if you enjoy tech, you'll enjoy learning how to use it. I'll take a quick read through the manual see if the commands I am familiar with apply. Also, some of the new systems interface with well with a PC for day to day configuration.

"Copy to Clipboard" in "Share Results" nonfunctional.

Curious if you have found the culprit yet -
There are many thread and discussions concerning flash based testing. As well as how the tests are calculated, and the specific pipe to the test, where on the structure the test is sitting, and why. Without getting into semantics about adding another software layer in order to test real world results, or specifics engineered into the testing platform itself, in my opinion these tests can only be used to determine a step away from connectivity, latency in short sense, yet severely lack real world usability, let alone geographic characteristics of 'real world' access to data concerning data stream, multi threaded visibility, not exempting realistic discrepancies between living on a top tier Vs. actual usability. Furthermore again in my opinion once we understand how websites today are gathering said data to deliver specifically upon request, we begin to understand it is not, by far from one node, yet in many cases hundreds. Google, local, ISP, CDN, not exempting stylesheets, fonts, .js, database, domain, DNS, and any plethora of data packages, are rarely anymore located 'locally' to the server hosting said site. Not even attempting to get into the security between said resources. As one simple click or request to view can and does result in a literal storm of discussion between resource requests on a multitude of levels. This is why in my opinion, to get a viable experience from a test, you must replicate what occurs during a request. Which testmy.net puts one big effort to accomplish with the multi-threading tests. Manically rhetorical malarkey : Interesting enough, we seem to get a bit disgruntled, or have difficulty accepting that we cannot grab chosen data at the same speeds we assume we should be pulling it in as. Same with life in general, we see something that does not fit within the confines of our idealistic realm of reality, and we are rubbed wrong. At that point we either do something such as dig a bit further into why we are seeing this, or we ignore it as simple as that sounds, and discredit results as impossible.

Interesting, it is working for me on a dedicated XP SP3 FF 29.0.1 then I updated to 37.0.1 and it continues to function properly. It may be an addon preventing this basic function from rendering, try disabling some addons until it works. -
The pink highlighted result from tests that reach 40MBps or higher What is it about the results that do not make sense? Windstream, I had no idea they could reach those speeds, is this what you are referring to? If so, it would seem there is some caching going on, if not, I'm looking into windstream for an ISP
-
With a ping time of 3ms the oookla test server is literally right next door, so testing will be very much so irrelevant other than connection. When testing it's always best to find a server further away from your current location, check the available testmy.net servers list > here <
-
Never forget testmy.net is not located on an ISP's public facing network where oookla scripts live. So proving an ISP throughput cannot possibly be worth anymore than assuming the account has connection to the ISP, and that is as far as it goes. So the differences can be astounding. To convert KB Kb MBps ect... testmy.net is kind enough to make a throughput conversion script available for all users. When testing at testmy.net , you'll get a real time 'internet' connection test, which runs through your modem, through your ISP's network, OUT and through the peers your ISP has available, to the specified testing node you choose. With as many variables involved, this gives a supremely more accurate representation of how your experience is reflected, or performing.

AOL snatched up Netscape, destroyed it and disbanded the entire project. I suppose this is what you do when something is better than you can do, destroy it. I remember using it after it after mosaic I think it was, dial up damn I miss that sound.

How do i say this kindly? Mkay, bullshit! MS has been much too busy trying to catch up to their own bank account to pay attention to what the web looks and acts like today, Vs 10+ years ago. But wait, hey bill, you said you have to crap out? here use this bucket .... *billy boy. now I'm thirsty, ok well run that poopie through some sand, now drink it. billyboy " yummie, here taste, and while were drinking our own shit, we'll wait another decade before making any moves, just to see what happens. I am fairly certain, as pertaining to this poll, that if the interwebz doez not contain nuff mems, it might splode Oo
