  1. That's the thing , I'm running neither. Nor am I running xsp server. I checked httpd~ modules and nothing , I see no soft links , and Iv'e looked in the php.ini of each virt directory and nothing. I'll admit I was not familiar with mod_mono or mod_asp other then remembering reading somewhere about hosting ms pages on linux some time ago. And the ticket I placed with VB and he asked the same thing. So is it possible that within vbulletin ( since I let that software run itself ) someone or something got creative ? Still looking for a way to detect this sever wide , since there's quite a bit on that server it might be a bit time consuming to not use a find command or something. thanks for the reply on this TriRan
  2. Yes you can stop some or most of the network traffic I agree, the problem is so many applications now are tied to something somewhere else, people think they want this ' I can access it from anywhere ' thing. So many times you limit the functionality by blocking the arguments.
  3. I think if you really spent some time on it , you would be surprised at how much any newer operating system and all it's 'goodies' , are phoning home , and the many connections it's has at any given moment. Nice connection for you finally ! Glad to see you get it
  4. First one to guess why I get this error wins a plus one. It's a linux box , and the error comes when trying to update bulletin from 4.2.0 => 4.2.0 PL2 The complete error code(s) lol ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// [NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.] SponsoredContent.Web.Frontend.Areas.plugins.Utility.PluginUtilFactory.GetPluginUtil(HttpSessionStateBase session) +52 SponsoredContent.Web.Frontend.Areas.plugins.Controllers.IndexController.Index() +49 lambda_method(Closure , ControllerBase , Object[] ) +79 System.Web.Mvc.ReflectedActionDescriptor.Execute(ControllerContext controllerContext, IDictionary`2 parameters) +264 System.Web.Mvc.ControllerActionInvoker.InvokeActionMethod(ControllerContext controllerContext, ActionDescriptor actionDescriptor, IDictionary`2 parameters) +39 System.Web.Mvc.<>c__DisplayClass15.<InvokeActionMethodWithFilters>b__12() +129 System.Web.Mvc.ControllerActionInvoker.InvokeActionMethodFilter(IActionFilter filter, ActionExecutingContext preContext, Func`1 continuation) +826410 System.Web.Mvc.ControllerActionInvoker.InvokeActionMethodWithFilters(ControllerContext controllerContext, IList`1 filters, ActionDescriptor actionDescriptor, IDictionary`2 parameters) +314 System.Web.Mvc.ControllerActionInvoker.InvokeAction(ControllerContext controllerContext, String actionName) +825632 System.Web.Mvc.Controller.ExecuteCore() +159 System.Web.Mvc.ControllerBase.Execute(RequestContext requestContext) +335 System.Web.Mvc.<>c__DisplayClassb.<BeginProcessRequest>b__5() +62 System.Web.Mvc.Async.<>c__DisplayClass1.<MakeVoidDelegate>b__0() +20 System.Web.Mvc.<>c__DisplayClasse.<EndProcessRequest>b__d() +54 System.Web.CallHandlerExecutionStep.System.Web.HttpApplication.IExecutionStep.Execute() +469 System.Web.HttpApplication.ExecuteStep(IExecutionStep step, Boolean& completedSynchronously) +375
  5. Gotcha. However it's a stand alone firewall called little snitch. I'll run it later and show what url's are being snared.
  6. Chrome works well for sure, but triggers the hell out of the firewall constantly while using it. Pain in the ticker.
  7. Yes this was the first satellite to broadcast from space , television. There was however a glitch , the broadcast of J.F.K. had a bit of a lag , timing issue anyhow , so a baseball game was broadcast instead. The telstar , july 23rd 1962 , you do remember , right ?
  8. Bah , no need to have it running full blast all the time , slow it down and find the sweet spot. So long as it's pumping out a few PPD thats all anyone can do
  9. Hello MikeMac , do you have a few , or even one keyboard shortcut to donate to the thread ? I kinda let this go for some reason, thanks for posting up to remind me. Mac has so many shortcuts and less obvious keystrokes to accomplish tasks that we would need to use the mouse for , or even utilities that may not even be known included within the operating system, thats really the directions I intended for this thread.
  10. Your moving up the PPD ladder quickly , as well as expanded the testmy.net folding team, nice work elliot thanks
  11. Yea when I have time to discuss it with those that are close to the core code.
  12. I remember something about a wireless router distance, I'de have to look it up but I seem to remember the wireless router should be further away then one foot, don't quote me but I would imagine more then three foot might be better. Although doubtful this is what is causing your latency in testing. Check out your peering and see the status if you can , look at hurricane electric's database.
  13. Oops missed the thread , sorry about that. You can record your mouse movements keystrokes and mouse clicks ect. So play around a little bit, the system will mimic whatever you tell it to do, including resetting your modem on a schedule.
  14. Have you posted a trace route yet to 74.120.187.140 ( testmy.net ) and see where the slowest hop is ?
  15. I should have said " render drive 5000 " It was huge for like 5 minutes until people started using auto cad and 3dmax. The boxes were proprietary hardware and software , and were meant for nothing other then rendering images and video. The one I'm dealing with at the time , I think ten years ago , went for somewhere around $24,000.00 , I think you can grab them now for less then a cheap notebook at best buy. But they have tons of video ram and several cards at that.
  16. Hey mention to your bud we said a big thank you !! So he knows we recognize his contribution and were glad he chose to join the testmy.net folding team (44352) You all are jumping up and ahead, after all the time people have dedicated a few CPU cycles , it's great to see enthusiasm On another note , I'm working with a render box 5000 to see if there is any way to get it folding. That right there would be fraction crazy PPD.
  17. Test to the east coast server and post results here if you would please. The 12 Mb test.
  18. Yea I'm not sure when they made the change, it's been a couple months maybe if that , since Iv'e visited.
  19. Tight ! I see stanford has updated there site, first time in years.
  20. Welcome searaf, run a few tests with the various ways here at testmy.net, you can post them in any of the topics in the show off your scores section
  21. P' - DOW ! hitting the cap this AM
  22. Hey Keith , I'de like to get into this with you, later today and find the settings that are restricting bandwidth , that router should move data nicely. I'll look up the GUI and see what idea's I can come up with in the mean time.
  23. Many people that are not familiar with the DNS setting , either on there laptop / tower , or the router they might be using , have contracted the malware through various means, which hijacks there browser and changes the DNS, aside editing the host file. If anyone notices there internet explorer is " running without add ons " , or you are redirected to an unfamiliar search page, you may want to post a question so we can help you deal with the issue.
  24. Might want to check your DNS server list within your operating system. Time has come where the FBI is shutting down the supposed affected servers hosting this malware. Monday the 9th if you cannot seem to access any website by your icons or by typing in the address bar , your machine might be effected. You should however be capable of typing in the website IP address , at the same token many will not have this capability. You can come to testmy.net at 174.120.187.140 to get a solution in removing the DNS servers. For now , you may want to see if your machine is been effected, please look for these DNS servers in the local list.
