I gave it a bit of thought myself , and tdawn and ca3le both hit it on the head. Maybe a few details about the content of the site and we can toss a few idea's your way !

I don't believe that fathers day is actually for the father per se', same as birthdays ect. So I did my normal " have to do things " , then tried my best to put out all those tiny fires that build up over time around the place. You know , that plant hangar she wanted put up , and the windows washed on the outside , drug some sort of giant wooden basket in a even more giant wooden hangar thing out front and helped with her flowers, along with enough other things that completely wiped me out. Called my dad then made nachos with home made salsa ect for everyone before being overtired and not being able to sleep lol hope everyone had a good day. Even though every day above ground is a good day !

Hi , please give a short time for a reply from the site owner. thanks, mudmanc4 -
Actually you didnt messup anything ! You raised awareness to something that some might never have known, not only that , the download is so small that may people might not even see it. I tried literally dozens of times , clearing cache , using chrome , this and that. Each time , I would be redirected to different sites , not always getting the download. Chances are I wouldnt have caught it , other then right now i am running testing on my network looking for issues. So all that would normally be blocked from pfsense is wide open , at least as far as redirects ect. You know what though , this helps me quite a bit, as openDNS should not have allowed this to happen. I'm going to have to look into the settings a bit. So in the short of it all , I thank you for assisting me !!! Funny how some things work out isnt it. I think the thread should stay . by all means.

I reproduced this three times, once with safari, and twice with chrome. With safari I have pop up blocker off by default and was slammed with new windows and one of those nice " you have won this or that " that allows nothing to be done but force quit the application, or click there who knows what button. Anyhow , here's a crap movie I made of chrome showing the download.

Feels good after all the trouble to finally get what you were sold doesnt it !

Your " host " , in this instance , is your ISP , or internet service provider ( who you pay for access to the internet )

\ I'm pretty sure that port is set to do that , as you say . And don't fret , I cannot reach even 40% of my advertised current speed.

Great explanation +1

I ended up installing windows server 2003 for this task as well as a few others locally. Installed the SMP client with -smp -verbosity 9 -forceasm -local Everything seems to be running ok , but on the four cores there only running at 25% , Now i would run three more instances in other directories , but from what I gather utilizing the full potential of the hardware with the SMP flag / client will prove many times over the results of several directories. Any suggestions ? And I have no idea about these procs and there thread capabilities. I used the server for several things in the past but never had to deal with it.

Wrong type of tool to do a ping test. Seems more like advertising. You can ping any host by following the steps below To ping a host... Windows Start > Run > type CMD [enter] > from the command prompt type ping google.com and/or ping testmy.net Linux / Mac Under Applications/Utilities open 'Terminal' > type ping google.com and/or ping testmy.net Paste those results here.

Seems a better route today

Very cool , so this is just while using google chrome right ?

So I haven't been on the cutting edge of folding as of late. So I'll need a bit of advice on any new advancements on old architecture. As it appears development had headed towards everything new , I suppose thats where the people took it , so thats where it went. However amazing I may find it to be, to have left everything 32 bit in the dust , as folding started out as using the extra CPU cycles to do calculations is leaving a large chunk of " outdated " hardware out of the possible results. Aar, here sits an HP DL380 G3 X3 2x 3.06 Ghz 4GB At the moment it's loaded with centOS , and Id'e like to keep it that way. However I can re image with almost anything. So knowing what is here , the best core with this hardware is the goal. Suggestions on OS best suited for this hardware is welcomed.

I'm hearing you on the open, but I think your logic is a bit off. If it were up to me to design a case, it would most definitively be the server rack form. Open and controlled air flow. Either way you move fresh air over the components, still the same air see ? Humidity or dust the same. I like to think I keep my mini datacenter clean, connected through the ductwork of the furnace and a secondary filter on the dataroom side worked wonders to keep dust to a minimum. With a temperature bulb to kick the blower on at any given set limit, But, I just moved everything, and before doing so , I opened every server and tower to blow out anything collected with high pressure. There was a bit more then i expected even with the extra filtering. Point is, unless you have a very real clean room, and serious filtration , your getting the same dusty air whether an open system or a closed airflow system. As far as the CPU clock limits, imo there stuck right now in the middle of utilizing virtual components and applications. Should be interesting to see what direction things go.

Looks useful, I could do w/o the yellow though.

Hey thx for the review ninja , I have to get the wife a new monitor within the month, get back to this thread if there's anything else you think someone could benefit from .

Great info Blako Ca3le just chuck all that jazz you have now and create a dir /folding in your favorite area , download the client only ( and dont click it ) as it installs in the pref pane ) , cd to the folding dir and run the -config only flag. Answer all the questions then near the end , it will ask of you want to set any oher parameters , use the flags Blako suggested , mainly the -smp, that'll get all the cores running. Sure it runs hot, I'm sitting at 200 F hahaha, there is a flag to use a percentage of the CPU , I forget it and I do need it myself , so I'll be looking for it when I get a second. Also I dunno if you want to start with changing items deeper in your new system, but you can use SMC fan control, unless Apple decided to do something about a slow to raise fan RPM issue itself ? Here's a snippet from my current core Blako [02:08:40] *------------------------------* [02:08:40] Folding@Home Gromacs SMP Core [02:08:40] Version 2.22 (May 7 2010) [02:08:40] [02:08:40] Preparing to commence simulation [02:08:40] - Ensuring status. Depending on what channels you are trying to view. If you reset or updated the firmware (which resets ) then you have likely lost your customizations. Is this what you are referring to ?
