  1. I think the police should start arresting the people who respond to SPAMMERS and SCAMMERS. After all, if nobody responded to it, there wouldn't be any, no incentive.
  2. Glad to see all is well. Just don't let it happen again........LOL! J/K good job CA3LE.
  3. I'm not sure what's up with BV, When I go to blackviver.com it says under constuction back soon, so I thought he was just putting a new look to the site, but that's been months, so I don't know if he'll ever get it going again or not. I hope he does.....
  4. I don't know how many people have used Black Vipers web site in the past, I used to use it all the time ( some good info there ) but mostly I used it for the services settings. His WebSite has been down for a long time and I just happened to find a mirror he is using at the moment, so here it is if anybody wants it........... http://dhost.info/kyeu/mirror/blackviper/
  5. I look back when I had DialUp running @ about 5KB's compared to what I have now, I have seen true downloads in excess of 800KB's and it blows me away! Then I see results like yours, and I just can't imagine what it would be like 15 to 20 times faster than that. I read something probably about a year ago that they were testing power companies, and running broadband through power lines up to 200Mbps, and I thought that sounded so cool because everybody has power in their house already. It seems like it would be so economical and these power companies would be jumping all over that technology, but it seems like that idea just died or something. But they'll get there some day I guess.
  6. I pay 53 US for 6/768.........and would gladly pay the extra 22 US for vanBurens connection. So let me figure this out... between Detroit, Michigan, United States and Stockholm, Sweden, as the crow flies: 4122 miles (6634 km) (3582 nautical miles) Initial heading from Detroit to Stockholm: northeast (35.5 degrees) Initial heading from Stockholm to Detroit: west-northwest (302.8 degrees) Well that would only be 21,764,160 Feet of cable. Crap! ..........I guess that won't be very economical to run a cable there........
  7. Yep...they are so damn paranoid that someone will run a server on the network if they give out anymore upstream.
  8. Here in Michigan they have commercials saying " and we just keep getting faster " I'm like yeah WHEN!... LOL! I'm so damn impatient....Oh well....
  9. Yeah my bad, I should have used qoute from Mystik_MDS, I was commenting on what he said above about taking 30 Min. for his tier upgrade that he ordered........Sorry bout that....
  10. Still waiting for that elusive 8Mps. :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 6451 Kbps about 6.5 Mbps (tested with 12160 kB) Download Speed is:: 787 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Sat Jul 23 12:39:05 EDT 2005 Bottom Line:: 115X faster than 56K 1MB download in 1.3 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 76.74 % faster than the average for host (Comcast.net) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-A92YIWVZP When I upgraded to the 6/768 I still had them on the phone and ran a speed test and it was there.
  11. Not sure if this is what's happening to your connection, but I found this at the Comcast forums. Jason1 Re: Speed Upgrade Announcement (July 12, 2005) Jul 18, 2005 12:58 PM Posts: 3,176 From: [email protected] Registered: 2/17/04 Reply Report Abuse Magician, We're not ignoring, just no additional info available yet on the upgrades (and we also get a day away from work every once in awhile!) Some of you may already be seeing these new speeds but no markets have officially announced the upgrades are complete yet. Some of these upgrades will be pushed to portions of a market at a time so some may see it before we announce it here. Other areas may be doing testing in some areas first so there may be a chance you see the speed upgrade for a short time and then return to the normal speeds until the market officially upgrades.
  12. No freezing on the actual download test........but when it is querying the database it takes a long time, for the download and upload test.
  13. Yeah that really sucks man.....Sounds like they had you do pretty much the same things I was telling you, And they are full of crap too when they say your PC not fast enough, on their web site it says minimum requirements was like 500MHz CPU and recommended 1.4GHz. and you said you had a 2.4GHz H.T. Where's all the FIOS guys ? I'm somewhat curious if the same is happening on the 15/2 Pkg. Well..... just keep bugging them and you are bound to get someone who knows what's up, even if it's not what you want to hear at least you would know, and then you could decide what you want to do.. Good luck man..Let us know what's up.
  14. try a tracert to tesmy and see how that does........the test looked good to me but with FIOS it seems like the pings are a little high. Those results above might be better handled by VanBuren, I understand some of it, but most is over the brain box here.
  15. I have heard of some places doing that lately, but mostly at colleges where they are downloading so many MP3s and movies it was clogging the internet so they were cutting the ports they were using for the P2P programs.......seems like I remember someone on testmy talking about that too, but can't remember who or what thread. I doubt RR would do that , but it got me to thinking of that. Sorry can't help more, maybe someone out here can be more of help to you.
  16. I understand that you are running upload on one PC and download on the other but you still might want to check the NIC and see what the speed is set to on both PC's just remember where they are set at now so you can put them back if you have to. Try different settings and see if makes a difference. I would think with the type of connection you have they shoud be at 100/Full Duplex. Also I'm not really sure if the router being set to a MTU of 1492 if the OS should be set the same or not, but you could get DrTcp and set the MTU to 1492 manually with that since WinXP defaults at 1500 I really don't have much else to offer, I hope something here helps. Good luck let us know. BTW if nothing seems to help, just bug the sh*t out of Verizon till they have a solution.
  17. Is it possible RR may have cut the port to bitcomit and or does RR Cap ? I just noticed also that on another thread you had just removed tweaks or something like that, I don't know if that may have messed with it or not, but if it was cablenut you might try re removing the tweaks and save to registry and restart PC and try again.
  18. I never used bitcomit, but do you have win xp w/SP2 and if so do you have the P2P patch ? That's all I could think of when I saw your post, unless there is a problem with the bitcomit server, may try to disconnect it and reconnect, not sure if you can do that with that program though.
  19. Might want to check your NIC and see if it's set to 100/ full duplex. Also check router to see if the MTU is set to 1492. Check this out http://www.broadbandreports.com/tweaks and paste the URL results here, just to see what MTU you are getting. I have had a little problem like you say but I have cable , but yours seems too drastic.

  22. I went to verizon site and I saw this one little blurb but they didn't get to elaborate. your Verizon Online DSL connection probably utilizes PPPoE (Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet). I think if that is true the MTU should be 1492 but I haven't messed with DSL in a while so......Ya might want to check with someone that knows more than I........ EDIT: I found this but it still depends on if you have pppoe or not, might want to change it for pppoe and try a download speed test and see if it's better or not, if not put it back where it was. Q: What is the MTU? (#7801)
