  1. You can get a program to tell you , I use Everest, it tells you a lot of things about your PC including the memory. You can download below if you want.
  2. ECC means "error correcting code", it will detect errors in your memory and also correct it, it's more expensive and you have to make sure your M.B. supports it.
  3. amc11890.....just my opinion, but you really shouldn't post 2 3 4 times right in a row like that, especially within like 30 seconds of each other, try using your modify button.....Thanks...
  4. The only other thing I can think of is shutting down PC and remove ribbon cables and power from the rom drives, then start PC go in to bios set none for those 2 channels save and exit, go into windows and remove from device manager like before , make sure you go to VIEW and check "show hidden devices" then remove all under CD/DVD Drives, then shutdown PC and hook cables and power back to Rom Drives, restart PC go to bios and set channels to AUTO, save and exit , boot to Windows and try them out. If that doesn't work I don't know what to say, But hopefully someone else can add to this, and figure it out........Good luck , let us know.
  5. Sorry ...don't know if you noticed my edit on my last post.
  6. you could try setting the NIC to AUTO and reboot. If that doesn't work I'd call rogers and see what they have to say, and or try to get with the the man.....VanBuren. Sorry I have no more suggestions for ya.... EDIT: You could try this, just have to follow directions to the tee, the hardest part is determining your latency, you have to download a large file when running a trace and take your highest one. http://j79zlr.com/cablenutXP2k.php That's probably as close as you'll get to perfect for your connection
  7. Try checking without the router in line and see if that improves, power cycle modem before starting PC.
  8. I'm not sure if you have tried this, it's VanBuren's css file for 3000/384 Cable.
  9. Have you installed or uninstalled anything just before this happened ?
  10. Do you know what brand name the H.D.is ? If so you might want to get their utility and run a diagnostic and see what it says. Also if the utility has the option write zeros to the entire drive then run diagnostic again. If that doesn't fix it then I would say a new H.D. is your final option. Maybe try H.D. in a different PC if possible, see if you can format it without problems there, that would at least let you know whether it's the H.D. or possibly the MB.
  11. Try going to device manager and go to VIEW and put a check next to show hidden devices, then go down to DVD/CD-ROM DRIVES and click the + sign and right click on all drives that show there and UNINSTALL. When done restart PC and see if that fixes, if not post again here and we can try something else. Let us know ..........Good Luck
  12. You could also try chkdsk /r in recovery console, it may repair the errors on your drive. Just boot to your WinXp Cd and go to recovery console, choose the OS you are having a problem with (usually you will only have the one) and press enter, then it will ask for ADMIN password, if you never had a password just leave blank and hit enter. At the prompt TYPE :" chkdsk /r "and enter. itmay take a while.....good luck
  13. If that speed is consistent, I would say you have been upgraded to the new speed......8000/768 Looks good
  14. If it is a USB controller and your PC has SP1 or above, then usually all you have to do is go to properties for the unknown device and update driver and choose to automatically find driver. If you don't have SP1 or 2, you will want to install that first and then follow above procedure.

  16. Sweet pictures.......Peaks the imagination...
  17. I'm in Michigan and they offer SBC/Yahoo here, probably about the same thing only with Verizon. The software to setup DSL comes with all the Yahoo goodies like Yahoo Messenger/Homepage/Toolbars....ETC. All in a Pkg. price...
  18. Congrats ! Best wishes for years to come man.....
  19. See if you qualify for Verizon FIOS, if so you would be getting about 20x faster than you are getting now, for $49.95 Mo.
  20. Might try unpluggging power cord for a minute, then plug in and try power button again. If that doesn't work try clearing CMOS, again unplug PS until the 5v stdby light goes off and find the CCMOS jumper next to the battery and jump 2-3 for about 30sec. or so, then jump back to 1-2 posistion plug power in and try power button, at this point if it starts, go into BIOS and set it up correctly. Last resort....Do you have a spare ATX PS ?, if so hook it up to MB don't worry about peripheral devices at this time, and try to power on. Your 12v side of power supply may have dumped but the 5v stdby power may still be working and that may be why the one light is on and not the other...........good luck
