  1. From what I have been reading on the Comcast forums they had some sort of screw up in Detroit and are still trying to work it out, I saw a Comcast tech at my neighbors house here in Lansing and asked him when this is going to happen and he said they were all ready here, just waiting for the word to go.........SUCKS !! :::.. 2. Unless you did a contract with MSN or something like that you should have no problem dropping them. And Qwest should supply you with an email address that you can setup in outlook express and then you can either use your IE browser or a third party browser like FFor whatever suits you. I know so many people that have High speed internet and then have AOL, MSN, too, I'm like WTF! WHY! .......paying Xtra $ for nothing really. If you do drop MSN make sure you uninstall all the crap that came with it when you installed it. Good Luck........Have a good one.........
  3. My wife and I both wish you "Love Health and Wealth and time to enjoy them" If I were to get married in a church I would have had to find a round one, So I wouldn't get cornered
  4. I take it you have WinXP ? do you have SP1 or SP2 installed yet ? The reason I ask is because I have seen that on a few computers and after installing SP1 or 2 it found it as a SMBus controller, but if you already have the service pack installed it's going to be difficult to figure out. Also have you tried windows update and checked for new hardware drivers there ? Another thing would be to take your driver install disk that came with the laptop and put it in your CD Drive and then go to device manager and double click the unknown device go to drivers and update driver and point the way to your CD Drive with the OEM driver disk and have it search through that. You might want to go to this page http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?dlc=en&lc=en&product=423776&lang=en&cc=us&os=228 and look through the list of drivers and compare to what you have in your device manager to see if something is missing that you know is on your laptop, also it wouldn't hurt to download the Intel chipset installation utility and run that on your system and restart PC after, it might make your system identify the unknown device. Hopefully something here will help..... let us know....good luck man.
  5. If you have a download accelerator or a firewall, anti-virus. try shutting them off and try test again.
  6. Good deal on the warranty man.. Hope it works out for ya.
  7. This board has basic feature set. The North Bridge on board is SiS 748, South Bridge is SIS 963L. This board supports up DDR-400/333/266 Memory with up to 2 DIMMs of DDR400, up to 3 DIMMs of DDR333/DDR266 (1 GB per DIMM with max. memory size up to 3 GB). So basically if you are running 3- 256Meg. DDR400 you will have to take 1 of them out. I thought it may have been something with the memory..... Thanx coknuck for the URL above, after reading that it cleared it up. Hope that works TriRan....
  8. Just right click on it and uninstall it, restart PC. If it's actually something you need it will find it again upon boot, then you can try to figure out what it is. If it doesn't detect it then it was probably just winXP's imagination to begin with.
  9. Just for testing purposes try setting the memory FSB to 333 and try it. It could be a lot of things but it sounds like a memory problem to me.
  10. Yep.....Try and hook one of the cd drives as a slave with hard drive and see if it works like that. Just remember that the hard drive must be set to master and not single with it's jumper. If it works that way then it sounds like the 2nd IDE channel is fried, if it doesn't work then it still may be something with windows. Crazy huh ?
  11. need4speed.........You don't need anymore speed...LOL! Nice stats you got there..
  12. The local radio station I listen to has a daily report on the cheapest gas in town, and that's the one I go to. I'm glad my Caravan runs best on regular. When prices were better I usually would go to Speedway.
  13. Me three..... :::.. 14. Welcome to the forums Elite.Pete Nice speeds..........I'm still waiting for my upgrade from Comcast
  15. OK....when you get in there check to see if by any chance one of the jumpers fell off from the back of one of the drives.... and make sure one is set to master and the other to slave.
  16. Hey Pit... My brother just did that last year with all his vinyl, He used a program called Cool Edit and it captured the audio through the sound card, there are probably other programs but I'm not sure what they are. He bought his program, should be something free out there. All he had to do was hook up the phono out or tape out on his receiver to the aux in on sound card. After capturing he could edit and then burn.
  17. 187.04 MP/s (No similar CPU/MHz/video) Using 16MB Matrox G400 / AMD K62 500Mhz. CPU / 192MB PC100 RAM
  18. SBC must be doing some work, usually, at least when I had them it stayed the same most of the time, anyway you might check with SBC to see if you can purchase or just have them set you up with a static IP/ I'm not sure of any other way to keep it the same, but somebody out here may know how.
  19. Here try this, unzip first, and it will run automatically when you click on it. Program compliments of PHP
  20. You would want to try to get as close a match as possible, such as speed and cas latency, I haven't messed with rambus too much, but I'm pretty sure it should be matched as close as possible to what you have already, not the brand name but the specs.
