Shug7272 Posted September 11, 2006 CID Share Posted September 11, 2006 A friend of mine had pictures on a usb thumb drive, they were compressed and password protected. Her drive went missing and she is worried someone could get the pictures off. So how hard is it to bust a password on a archived (winrar) file? dlewis23 Posted September 11, 2006 CID Share Posted September 11, 2006 it would take me about a min to crack the password and get the pitures.its not hard at all.
Shug7272 Posted September 11, 2006 Author CID Share Posted September 11, 2006 Really? That easy huh, anyone else wanna weigh in? Im not that worried for her because the person she is hiding the files from can LITERALY not turn on a computer and he would probably have a hard time finding someone to do it. Yea it can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes..especially since winrar gold comes with a cracking tool lol...but you shouldnt worry about it if he cant turn on a computer lol
Shug7272 Posted September 11, 2006 Author CID Share Posted September 11, 2006 Well I wasnt worrying per se but I just wanted to know how easy it would be incase he finds someone to do it. I KNOW he couldnt do it. Anyway, thanks guys. Oh and I knew there were winrar password cracking tools but I didnt know they were actually effective. disturbed Posted September 11, 2006 CID Share Posted September 11, 2006 i agree with dlewis on this - .....it can be done easily with a password cracking tool - those are available for .rar files - i could do it myself without any tools, but it would take a bit longer
resopalrabotnick Posted September 11, 2006 CID Share Posted September 11, 2006 hm, if the pics are /those/ kinds of pics and the filenames of the archives let one surmise that then there might be considerable motivation to gain access...
