raptors892004 Posted September 6, 2005 CID Share Posted September 6, 2005 Yes, it's a well known "issue", even for Mac users, that we are still waiting for a browser fast enogh in Mac as on WIndows. Hope it gets fixed in the near future..

raptors892004 Posted September 7, 2005 CID Share Posted September 7, 2005 Just out of curiosity, does Mac OS come with the PC or can you download it from the net.. I have never seen a Mac without the Mac OS and another pc with Mac OS, so I would assume that they come with the OS.. Am I right?
euskir Posted September 7, 2005 CID Share Posted September 7, 2005 Apple Macintosh Computers come with the OS installed. You can't run Apple OS on a PC, but you can run Windows OS on a Mac using an application called Virtual PC.
raptors892004 Posted September 7, 2005 CID Share Posted September 7, 2005 What if something happens to Mac OS? Do the pc's come with any cd about the OS (e.g.: repair functions..)?
euskir Posted September 7, 2005 CID Share Posted September 7, 2005 Usually you've got four cds (or one DVD). There you'll find the OS and the applications (browser, mail, utilities, iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, Quicktime...), and also the Xcode a set of tools for developers. euskir Posted September 9, 2005 CID Share Posted September 9, 2005 There's a new Firefox for Mac (since a couple of hours ago), it's 1.5 beta 1 version. Looks ok, fast, and with new stuff, like the commands to open your mail apllication, to check mail or compose. Well, I'm just taking a tour with this new toy... resopalrabotnick Posted September 9, 2005 CID Share Posted September 9, 2005 best browser for the masses? ie. why? it's free, it comes preinstalled on most boxes, it's easy to use and there is no need for the average user to download stuff for it, fiddle with it etc. beyond the occasional check on ms.com for updates, which you can even have it do automatically. and last but not least it's the most compatible because it /is/ the standard. What if you don't use Windows? Oh, wait a sec, then no IE for you! Then there's us "high-tech" types who like something other than bloatware. euskir Posted September 10, 2005 CID Share Posted September 10, 2005 Since yesterday I'm testing Firefox 1.5 beta 1 version. No major bugs until now. I've got Safari, Firefox, IE and Opera, that order is the way I use them. Some great add to Firefox look is Firefoxy. One thing I'm not so happy about is the "location bar". I like the "autofill" in the location bar, like Safari or IE, just type a few letters and you've got the information from your Favorites right there. Yes, there's Keyword in Firefox, but it's not a great thing. But I will like to know if someone can share some tips about Keywords or other method to work with the location bar. netmasta Posted September 10, 2005 CID Share Posted September 10, 2005 I dwnloaded FF 1.5 Beta 1 yesterday. I had to unstall it. It's not compatible with almost all of my plug-ins/ad-ons. I will download it when it's public though.
