Guest helloimtim Posted June 20, 2005 CID Share Posted June 20, 2005 I use both sygate and zonealarm on my computer. I have dual drives. I have not really noticed much diffrence between the 2 except for this. Zone Alarm seems to lean more toward thoes that have some knowledge of computers where sygate is more for your casual user who is not realy computer savy.......... RTB Posted June 20, 2005 CID Share Posted June 20, 2005 Sygate here. ZA before that, but it had issues with BT.
lorne Posted June 20, 2005 CID Share Posted June 20, 2005 Agnitum Oupost here. Out of the 3 it is the only 1 that passed every leak test i threw at it. On any of them you have to do some work setting them up to make them work well. Just default settings is a joke, on all 3.
wingzero2309 Posted June 20, 2005 CID Share Posted June 20, 2005 sygate for me i find zone alarm too annoying now, but b4 i thought it to be the best
Mactron Posted June 20, 2005 CID Share Posted June 20, 2005 sygate for me i find zone alarm too annoying now, but b4 i thought it to be the best Here too. I used ZA for the longest time. Recent versions have been just awful. Tried Sygate, liked it and use it it on my Laptop when traveling/off my network now. At home I rely on my router to keep the nasties out. FallowEarth Posted June 20, 2005 CID Share Posted June 20, 2005 I have used all three and am not loyal to one over the others. I usually switch after I'm bored with the current one, but I've got ZA right now. It's really simple but I've never had issues with it. I've had good luck with Outpost too. lorne Posted June 20, 2005 CID Share Posted June 20, 2005 Test at the following links to see if your firewall is configured properly https://image.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 http://www.grc.com/lt/leaktest.htm The second one you have to DL a file, it is safe. De-install of course after your done

cholla Posted June 25, 2005 CID Share Posted June 25, 2005 tucson1960;If you found some ports open you need to tighten your security.I only found 1 open when I first tested 5000 I closed it by disabling universal plug & play.
