A little better. Have you restarted your modem lately? Take out your modem cable from the modem and touch the end at least 10 seconds. Clear out your cache and do disk cleanup. Try again.
-
Welcome to the forum diverdown diverdown it won't make much difference if you switch satelite service. Satelite is satelite. Or are you talking no service? Are you grounded properly. Are you restarting your modem?(taking the cable-end and touching the end with your finger for at least 10 seconds) Now if Verizon Wireless was an option, I would definately have made that choice! What does tech support say?
-
Yeah ISDN is old school setup. Dependable and slow and expensive. I had the same option.(did not want) And yes DSL is sort of a nickname for ADSL. Sat is definately much better than ISDN. Its not bad once you get used to it. And will have to do til DSL arrives. Now there is always T-1 which is real nice if you like car payment type prices. Very pricey. My connection is just not worth it. Unless you can justify it with a business write-off. Then maybe. I don't regret it, I just can't wait for something better. When my contract is up if sat is all that is available still, I will stick with sat. as it still beats dial-up.
-
And Newegg always has speedy delivery.
-
Hey wait a minute resopalrabotnick, now.... Well maybe you are right. As long as you consider sat. is faster on D/L than dial-up.
-
How about a combo pick? Crucial from Newegg! http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Brand=1455&N=2010170147+50001455&Submit=ENE&Manufactory=1455&SubCategory=147

Sorry but I dream about ADSL coming to me! Absolutley much better. No fap, no storm outages, nice smooth service, no big buck equipment charges, no dish repointing, English speaking tech's, real time service... And cheaper. Why would you not want to? I'll tell you what, if you can find one post older than today( shug would make one just to make me lose ) that someone was thrilled about getting to go satelite service instead of DSL, I will eat my cordless mouse.

Maybe it is not as uncapped as you think. With that kind of D/L you ought to using a larger file to test with anyway. I don't properly test on the 2992 test myself. And I only have a 700/128. You should be using a file test that big probably.
-
Make sure you hit the enter key before typing Roco. Maybe you just forgot how slow it really was.
-
purplemadboy you might try tweaking the connection first to see if you can get closer first. You are running a clean computer right, if not sure you might check here. http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-4257 Second of all get the tweak here. Just find the file that fits and go. http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-1013 It should help get you much closer.

What are your advertised speeds Sneek? Try this test and post! http://www.testmy.net/tools/test/d_load.php?ni=1&tt=1&s=12160&st=st Don't forget to clean out your cache before you click, as it takes you directly into the test.

You are actually the first to say that. Is the TCP Optimizer all you have done since the first speed post? If you really think it hurt go back to your original back up file. Have you tried cablenut to tweak? http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-1013 Have you restarted your modem? Pull the plug on modem and touch your finger to the end. Your signal strength is fine. What exactly did you do of the above things. What anti-virus are you running? Are you on a router? I had to not post a few of speed tests I just ran. Mine has been bursting a little. Here is one of my tests with the 6000. :::.. Download Stats ..::: Download Connection is:: 1978 Kbps about 1.98 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 241 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (Server 1) Test Time:: 2006/07/24 - 1:13am Bottom Line:: 34X faster than 56K 1MB Download in 4.25 sec Tested from a 2992 kB file and took 12.39 seconds to complete Download Diagnosis:: Awesome! 20% + : 91.11 % faster than the average for host (direcpc.com) D-Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-HQRJ34OSC User Agent:: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.0.3705; .NET CLR 1.1.4322; Media Center PC 4.0; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) [!] Also which satelite are you on?

Are you needing the radeon, or is that what you have? Might have a good deal on one!
-
I feel guilty not posting and reading so many times. But I am fairly illiterate on most tech stuff. Sorry!

What are your advertised speeds and internet provider? Maybe post a speed test?
-
I asume you are running a clean computer aerodude ? http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-4257 Have you tweaked your connection yet? You might try this TCP Optimizer. It has premade settings. http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-1703 The first post. At the top of the pic is the attachment. Follow the instructions carefully. That is the one I use.

Welcome to the forum CloudStrife08 Post a speed test if you would. What are your advertised speeds?

Shug7272 take a piece of 14 guage copper wire and insert it in the small hole in the front of the C.D. drawer. It realeases the drawer to open.

That is not totally true Shug7272. Dumb blondes are still hilarious. They might be cute, but... Well you know Nos7667 I actually did divide the sandwich in 2. So I would have something for the second half. Your U/L beats my D/L. Dway has the 700/128. The up is actually about 33 kbps most times. It won't keep up with dial-up.

Closest back to back / Most consistent speed

It could be during this heat. I know road crews here only work at night. Less traffic and much lower heat. Cheaper to run lights. And that may be the second shift. -
Not really. The first test sometimes is burst. Or sometimes it takes more time to warm up. Truckinslim would you mind posting 2 tests directly with the 1013 File test (not the smart test.) Actually I test better on the 579 file test than I do on the smart test does with the 97 kbps! Some reason the smart test always gives me lower scores.
-
It is fine as long as you are browsing. The rest bites. I uploaded some pics one time and even divided them in 2. Finally went upstairs and made a sandwich.
-
I would not be suprised, kind of like the stolen car to commit the crime. Heck, he might just be jealous of this site. Who knows.
