After cleaning the bird doo off of the dish, failed transmissions have stopped. Uploads still suck, but I think that's something on DWay's end. I will be so glad in a couple of months when I move to Greenville and be done with this. Cox cable here I come!
-
No problems here. There is bad weather at the NOC today (SNOW), so that might affect your speeds. Im on the Las Vegas NOC so it won't effect me.

AMC9 has been having it's share of problems recently. My number of failed transmits has been irregularly high. Around 18%. However, I do have crap on my dish and I just cleaned it. I also have moisture in the feed horn window which im trying to figure out how to go about drying that up. Maybe that will fix that problem.

LOL, I was starting to believe I was completely wrong about all of it. M16, your speeds are above average for a lot of people on AMC9 at night. Dialup couldnt have been better than that, although its a lot cheaper lol. :::.. Any DW7000 Tweaks Being Used by Anyone?
ghostmaster replied to cpatullo's topic in DW7000 Information
There is a 400 dollar surcharge if you don't return the equipment (if you didn't buy the equipemt up front and took the promotional plan). There is a 300 cancellation fee on the contract. So it's really a 300 fee, but they take 700 until you return the equipement, then they credit you back 400. Either way it sucks..... -
usually a 10 either means that your dish is out of alignment, bad trans...or they are having problems.... usually its they are having problems.... when I got home at 7:00, my system was out. I dont know how long it was out but it came back up soon after I got home...maybe 5 minutes later...

Ah forgot about that one.....

Could be made to look like an NVIDIA process. But I don't know of any that would be trying to connect to a site like that.....
-
make sure you have universal plug n play turned off. Esp on your router if it allows to you to change that setting.
-
If it's in the Prefetch directory, it must be something that you installed, or "contracted" from the internet. Try running the file through command line and see if it has any options. like C:NVCR32.exe /? or something like that. It may be a legit service, then again it may be spyware. I hate restore points, when Im running virus scans or spyware scans on our employee's computers when they have a problem, a lot of spyware programs put exe files in the restore point directories. You could try a netstat -a command and see if it tells you where it is connecting to, and then try to find out who that ip address belongs to.

How Can I see my speeds on dway dw7000 help
ghostmaster replied to M16's topic in DW7000 Information
Register on Mydirecway.com and run their speed test, or just run the one here........ -
yeah really...im so freakin pissed right now!!!!
-
LOL they are sooooo going under.....maybe WB or Skyterra will buy them out....
-
Heres at tip...only run the mydirecway test between 3:00pm and 11:00pm...that way they only see the slow speeds...then they'll repoint...thats what a lot of people are doing...
-
and SkyTerra will be launching SpaceWay 3 early 2007. The Direcway platform you have today will be gone in a couple of years, God Willing. We are using satellites right now that was never meant for broadband communications. Anik2, which is what WB is using was. That's one reason they have better performance.

Probably true, but still I have noticed some improvement the last few days... WB will be hated just as much as Dway given time. I have no faith in any satellite provider given the current price and performance...

I have seen a slow but steady increase in evening performance every night this week. Also, the time period of the slowdown seems to be getting narrower.

Those who want to do "out of the ordinary"
ghostmaster replied to tuctboh's topic in HughesNet (DIRECWAY)
Joining here was a good idea, there are a lot people here who may be able to benefit from your knowledge. It's just that there are a lot more technicle DWAY and Wildblue people at the other site. Grounding to the electrical box should cover the problem. I'm guessing the installer grounded it to the pole, which aparently is a big no no. I would think that grounding it to the pole would be useless, since the transmitter is attatched to the pole by way of the arm and dish. Search the DSLreports forums for proper grounding procedures for the transmitter. They have many threads with photos and such that will help you. -
You can commission on any Sat and/or transponder you want to, but when the commissioning process is over, the modem will download the configuratio parameters assigned to it by the NOC. The modem will then be assigned to the Sat and transponder that DWAY assigns you, NOT what you put into the modem during Installer-Setup.

There is a linux version of Hamachi....Have you tried using it on FreeBSD?....Sounds like you have a pretty sweet setup, and it also sounds like you have plenty of money to do all of this lol. So I don't understand why you wouldn't want to upgrade to Pro with a static IP, or at least Pro. It makes things a lot easier. As far as static buildup is concerned. The networking equipment will not cause static buildup in the modem, but if your transmitter is not properly grounded, it will cause static buildup, and cause you to have to reboot the modem constantly. DirecWay support is useless when it comes to any of the stuff you are trying to do. You have to remember that they are trained to help computer dummies. If you want really technicle questions answered about Dway, visit http://www.dslreports.com/forum/sat. There are a lot of long time Dway users there that can help with the more technicle aspects of the system. Oh and Dway only supports Windows and Macintosh....unfortunately....If you can talk to someone in engineering, you might be able to talk to someone that supports the Unix/Linux platform. -

The direcway NAT can be defeated by a program called Hamachi. (http://www.hamachi.cc) It allows for the creation a personal private P2P network. The Hamachi servers assign each network addresses from the unregistered 5.x.x.x range, and are only accessible from within your private network. This works well for remote access into your DWAY network without a static (public) IP. -
