  1. Dell doesn't really like Microsoft? Since when? They aren't pushing those linux machines on anyone. They are just trying to make money off of an alternative product.
  2. Deep freeze can't be uninstalled from the Ctrl panel, you must use the executable to uninstall it, or from the deep freeze network console. Why in the world is DF on a home computer? Or are you trying to get past it somewhere else?
  3. With the Belkin, or just wireless in general? I think it was an Atheros driver issue, that was fixed in a hardware revision. Belkin stopped updating drivers for the one I have.
  4. The main problem with Vista is 3rd party driver support, which has greatly improved, but not good enough for me. I couldn't use my Belkin Wireless N1 adapter with it, because it would shut off every few minutes in Vista. That's the only reason I'm not using it.
  5. The way its looking now, I would have to say Windows 7 will be an intermediate release, especially if its going to come out next year....
  6. Well, if you go by MS's history, and their normal patterns, Windows 7 should not be a flop, but a large success. Only time will tell.
  7. Nope...all of our MACs are intel based...
  8. Because when I do, I get an error that says OSX 10.4 cannot be installed on this computer. This is with our campus version, not one of the disks that comes in the box, so it can be installed on any machine that meets the requirements. This is also on a new IMAC, and I've also tried it on a new Mac Mini. Downgrading on a MAC that came with 10.4 originally wouldn't be a problem, but on a machine that came with Leopard, it seems I cannot.
  9. Yeah but that's the same with almost all 3rd party software, on ANY platform. The fact of the matter is, both are fairly good in their own ways, and they are different. If Apple would open their OS to all platforms, not just MAC hardware, they would likely gain a significant market share.... Something being too expensive IS a valid arguement. However, you could buy a Mac Mini very cheap, and it would be quite useful if you're not a gamer, or a graphics person. MacBook's are also quite competitive for the hardware spec's. I have a MacBook Pro that I got from my job. It is well designed, and "feels" much better than a regular ole Dell or HP laptop. My only other gripe with MAC is OS downgrades. We havn't approved Leopard yet @ ECU, and we cannot downgrade new MACs to Tiger. From a system administration standpoint, MACs are nowhere near as cost effective as a PC network, especially if you're talking 200+ machines. I have to deal with give or take 500 computers in our building, and if half of them were MACs, I'd have shot myself long ago.....
  10. No, but they output water through the process, but they run on hydrogen. The hyrdrogen can be extracted from water. They have made advances in batteries, they choose not to implement them, because of a little thing called planned obsolecense. That's why we don't have lightbulbs that last forever.....except for that one that was invented first. Ya know, the one that's still burning....
  11. Nickel is too toxic to mass produce for car batteries.... We need more efficient hydrogen engines. Cleanest way to go....
  12. Before you do that, if you have more than one stick of RAM, remove one and see what happens. If it continues, put that stick back in, and take out the other one. Or you can try running memtest86 http://www.memtest86.com/download.html
  13. Probably a bad stick of RAM, or a motherboard problem...
  14. No, but grounding your transmitter will. If you don't it will cause static to buildup in the modem, thus reducing performance.
  15. If you're taking a system that is already configured for a specific satellite, you'll have a hard time getting hughes to re-commission it without an installer. But if it's been decommssioned, they might not give you such a hard time. Anywho, you're better off asking that question here: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/sat
  16. Dammit DLewis, we're not all videophiles!....lol....
  17. PS3 is the best deal, whether or not you use it for games. Plus the firmware updates will make sure that it always supports the latest features...
  18. Or we could pool our resources and build an amateur missle to shoot down the sats.........We can say we were testing the anti-satellite missle system for our local militia. Its our 2nd amendment right lol....
  19. It won't because the 32bit OS can't use more than 3 GIGS. M$ patched Vista to display the correct amount of installed RAM (If your BIOS supports it), but the OS can only access up to 3 gigs.
  20. http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/nogas.asp
  21. AMD has to stay. Lack of competition breeds apathy.... Thats why everytime AMD releases something new, Intel crushes it before AMD can even mass produce it.
  22. Wow, talk about thread resurection...lol...If the poll were made again today, the results would be reversed...
