System Specs: Wutcha think?

pretty good pc for that price.. -
you checked for weird programs in the background.. however, did you scan for spyware.. if not, please scan with Spybot S&D and Ad-aware. I don't think the problem could arise from the Operating system of the 2 computers.. It could be because of the cables as DaKeith said, but that is a bit unlikely as he pointed out as well.. Try scanning for spyware and see what you find

what's your internet's advertised speed? maybe we can help you get it up to the cap if its not there already
-
I bet you are located somewhere near dallas, where the server is located
-
A bit of a difference.. lol .. Anyways, it could be used for low speed connections that use the smart method which could redirect them to there

what router do u have? wired or wireless? cuz if its wired, noone could tap into ur internet from the outside except for spyware -
my bad.. he has dual processor but each one is 2.5ghz, so 5 gigs combined.. he said the final vista was said to have those specs.. Microsoft had those super-pcs and they tested in on that.. Its probably BS what he read or said but i just wanted to see if any of u guys have heard about this

if the router still worked before i would guess it would work now if it is not broken or anything.. i don't think its spyware, because you are in this great forum .. It could be Windows firewall as you said.. If none of the above things is the cause of the problem, System restore or format->reinstall are the way to go -
I heard from a friend that the fnal vista version requires something like 6ghz processor, 16gb ram and a massive video card.. Do any of you know if this is true, because the beta version has significantly less specs

Good new server.. Hope they include it into the mirrors page, cuz i don't see it in there now

it has the teatimer program and sdhelper, which protect your system and IE respectively.. They could be accessed from: Mode -> Advanced Mode Then go to the Tools Tab -> Resident.. They are there.. If you only click on tools, you can see all the helpful programs that spybot has to offer

mine doesn't freeze on a scan.. and updates work when i get them from SaferNetworking
-
very nice speeds indeed

i had that problem too before.. on my windows 98, i had to manually delete zone alarm files, because the uninstaller would not work.. it disabled my dns servers, so i was able to browse the internet for 2-3 mins and then here comes disconnection.. i was still able to download after that, just not able to surf.. Like the other forum members said, best thing is to install zone alarm again, configure it so your internet works, and then uninstall it, so it deletes all its working files and registry keys.. That may be why your internet doesn't work now - there are still some files or registry values left on ur pc from ZA.. The other thing is if you have Windows XP, use its System Restore function if u have it enabled and restore to a point before installing ZA

i got the same error with only one mirror - i think it was EON.. just switch to a different update server (SaferNetworking ones always worked for me ) and its gonna download ok
-
if u did not change any router settings since beginning the download, I would think that it doesn't have to do something with a port-forwarding.. Just restart the computer or the router and see if you can get it going again
