I think they are recommending PUBLIC wifi, not private networks. I doubt companies are going around saying "If you need to get online, just park in front of someones house, and log onto their network"

If someone leaves a car running with the keys in it, and you decide to take it because it is not "secured", it is still considered theft.(the people leaving the keys in the ignition are morons as well, but still...it's theft) I see no difference with wireless. Just because it is easy to steal, does not make it legal.

Its normally lower, but I am running x64, and my nic card doesn't have released drivers just yet...I'm using beta drivers, and they are a bit buggy..I think they released drivers for my onboard nic, I'm going to see if they are better.

It would be too funny if the moron had a shared (networked)printer hooked up to his pc(I love printing stuff upstairs and hearing the WTF till they realize I was printing something) You could just print a page out on his printer... I was always courteous when I called, and was NEVER treated with the same respect. I used to do service work, with lots of customer interaction, and I NEVER treated anyone with the disrespect that most OOL techs showed. They just have issues with customer relations in that company... I should know, as I used to service their HVAC equipment for their sites and one of their main buildings. I did not work directly for them, but for a sub-contractor... When I tell you stupid is as stupid does...That doesn't even begin to tell the story over there... Perhaps it has changed since I left the field, but that place was so mis-managed, I don't see it ever lasting very long...Plus the owner, Dolan, is a complete ass.

I HATED OOL...I know how you feel. We had it for years, and when we started getting dial up speeds with BOTH computers @ night(and we paid for 2 modems in the house, which both slowed down at same time). Their "techs" insisted it was a problem with both pcs...Yeah, both pc's have this mysterious problem(OOL) where at 5pm the internet goes from 8,000kbps to maybe 100kbps if you are lucky...Ping? Who knows, it went all over the place...Again, it was "our pcs". Finally made them change the drop to my house, after the tech came to the house, and saw the speeds, and confirmed with his laptop...Of course this didn't fix crap, because the node is just oversold...It would be like selling too many tickets to a movie theater, and making people stand to watch it. You should only sell the tickets if you have a seat for everyone! Their techs are nasty mofo's, and really could care less.... Then, some miracle happend that gave me my internet speed back........... FIOS...I get and have gotten my full advertised speed since day one of Fios install(3x OOL's Max. 'Advertised' Rate on download, 5x upload at the time)....I get absolutely no slow downs...Speeds at 3am are same as speeds at 8pm.... I NEVER even got full speed from my OOL... F@#k OOL As you can tell, I still have pent up anger towards OOL...

Make sure you are using 128bit encryption, and change your key...If you have WEP on, and he is still getting in, either you have a very easy encryption(default like 00000000 etc.) or he somehow has your encryption key(highly unlikely). Make a new key, and see what happens. If you change your key, and he still is getting access, call the cops. He is stealing... If it were me, I would go over to the house with a printout of his mac address, which should be logged in the router(mine will show the mac address of each connected computer). Then tell him if he doesn't stop, next call will be to the police..I doubt he has spoofed his mac address, and it would be very easy to prove it was his pc.

And if there is one already there, try a different one...Perhaps you have a bad connector??

How old is the card that is in there? Have you tried to remove the card, and reinsert it into the slot..Perhaps its not sitting right in the slot? Can't hurt to try...Of course, power down, remove power cord, and discharge yourself before you touch the card.. Do you know anyone that has an old card that you can just test with? Is power supply ok? Perhaps it's not putting out enough juice?

Looks like you're playing in "Cataracts Mode" Joking aside...Damn that sucks.. What kind of video card do you have? How old is it? What size is your power supply? If you have an nvidia card, try uninstalling your video card and driver, then boot into safe mode, and run the Nasty File Remover (attached). This will rid your system of old driver files. Run the NFR until it comes back with no driver files, then install the newest drivers available. There is also an ocx file attached. I needed it to run it, you may not. If you get an error for the ocx file, just unzip it, and place it in the same folder as NFR, and it will work fine.

You could run a quick test of your Direct X, which will simulate gameplay... Run --> dxdiag --> Display ----> Test DirectDraw & Test Direct3D See if that comes up with any errors or problems.

Don't Worry Be Happy She can't do crap...Unless she is Judge Judy or something... In NYS, if you call in an aggressive driver on the highway, they will(if a highway patrol is near), make them aware of the make/model/etc, and will pull them over...I've only called on one person, and that is because they were weaving @ about 100 mph, and then proceded to push me off the road, past the rumble strips and onto the grass...Not fun hitting the grass @ 65mph... You are actually supposed to get out of your passenger side if your drivers door opens in traffic... That was what we were taught in drivers ed many, many, many years ago. Edit: of course I don't do this, but I do look before I swing my door open into traffic. I believe if you were to do this, and someone takes your door off, you are at fault, since I believe in some language it states you are supposed to use the passenger door if it is not safe to exit via the drivers door(in New York at least)...Its not really a law I guess, but clears up cases like a door being hit by a passing driver I suppose.

I wish doctors were all reputable...I have a friend that takes prescription amphetamines for "fatigue" as he calls it, which is complete BS. He is not fat or even close to overweight, and he basically lives off them now. If he doesn't have them, he gets very moody, and he is not a pleasure to be around. If you tell him he doesn't need them, he gets very defensive...How his doctor can write out this script with a clean concious is beyond me.. Not a good road to take....

Have you tried to un-install your network card, reboot, and let windows reinstall it? Also, you could try WinSock XP Fix (attached). You may be missing certain registry entries. Have you done any major spyware removal lately? (not meaning that you have it, but if you removed some, it could have screwed up your registy entries, which WinSock XP Fix can help with)

Remember you may GAIN weight initially, due to the fact you are replacing fat with muscle, which by volume weighs more, but is much healthier. Once you get accustomed to the cardio, and can push yourself further, you will notice the weight coming off faster. A few easy ways to get more exercise on an average day... - Don't park close to a store you plan to shop in it...It's easier to find a spot further away, and you get exercise by walking, plus most likely you won't buy too much, because you will realize you have to carry it too far.. - Take the stairs...I never take elevators, unless its like 5 floors or more. - Don't use drive thru's. Get your ass out of the car, and walk in to buy the extremely nutritious meals that are offerred by our fast food establishments. On an average week, you'd be surprised how much walking it adds up to.

I've used it sucessfully to wipe my hd's, but it is not a common magnet that everyday people have laying around...Honestly I have no idea why he has it...He is one of those people who have all sorts of crap, but you have no idea why they have it, or if they ever actually use it Go get an MRI, and bring the HD with you That should erase it!
