Here's the bandwidth to the various datacenters I work with http://www.softlayer.com/advantages/network/carriers Washington D.C. has some sick bandwidth...

I think that's normal in some cases actually... check out mine. iMac:~ ca3le$ traceroute testmy.net traceroute to testmy.net (174.120.187.140), 64 hops max, 52 byte packets 1 192.168.1.1 (192.168.1.1) 3.434 ms 3.019 ms 1.083 ms 2 * * * 3 ip68-2-1-1.ph.ph.cox.net (68.2.1.1) 10.365 ms 11.534 ms 8.031 ms 4 70.169.75.90 (70.169.75.90) 12.520 ms 9.425 ms 9.313 ms 5 chnddsrj01-ae2.0.rd.ph.cox.net (70.169.76.229) 8.212 ms 9.254 ms 9.960 ms 6 langbprj01-ae2.rd.la.cox.net (68.1.1.17) 22.467 ms 21.371 ms 22.622 ms 7 xe-2-3-0.cr1.lax112.us.above.net (64.125.31.190) 22.417 ms 34.432 ms 22.018 ms 8 xe-3-2-0.cr1.iah1.us.above.net (64.125.26.121) 45.537 ms 55.909 ms 64.033 ms 9 xe-1-2-0.cr1.dfw2.us.above.net (64.125.26.129) 45.468 ms 45.224 ms 48.521 ms 10 xe-0-1-0.er1.dfw2.us.above.net (64.125.27.74) 45.850 ms 66.132 ms 63.610 ms 11 64.125.199.94.t366.above.net (64.125.199.94) 47.191 ms 46.206 ms 48.682 ms 12 te9-1.dsr02.dllstx3.networklayer.com (70.87.253.22) 47.142 ms te3-5.dsr02.dllstx3.networklayer.com (70.87.253.90) 44.970 ms te2-2.dsr02.dllstx3.networklayer.com (70.87.255.30) 72.933 ms 13 * * * 14 e.ff.5746.static.theplanet.com (70.87.255.14) 46.685 ms 49.988 ms a.ff.5746.static.theplanet.com (70.87.255.10) 57.739 ms 15 8c.bb.78ae.static.theplanet.com (174.120.187.140) 45.607 ms 46.678 ms 55.614 ms [/CODE] I think that's the router... I'd really like to know why to does that though. Theplanet told me once (why it does it on the host end) but I've forgotten now.

D.C. isn't bad Still waiting on a response...

I was thinking the same thing. It's a big expense but I think it's about time to add another server. I think having a second location to another major internet hub will clear up ANY confusion about route. I only use dedicated servers, so I'm sorry that I haven't put more online yet. But if you want the quality of test that I strive for you HAVE to go dedicated. VPS doesn't cut it, too many variables from other people on the server... makes for a very bad platform. The way that I do it is more expensive but it ensures that no BS is bleeding into the results. ---- I can guarantee you that the other guys don't care as much about stuff like that. I could have put 100 shitty VPS servers along time ago. Trust me, I explored the idea and it's well within the sites budget but I feel it's not the right way. The only way to be sure about the variables is to have full control over them. Dedicated... and then if you go dedicated you might as well get at least 8 cores, dual gigabit... etc. I kinda want to just order it up... I've been thinking about it for a long time. hummm

[update] Opened a ticket with the datacenter to make sure there isn't any routing issues that I have control over. ... I'll let you know when they update me.
-
You know Cox in our area is quoting Ultimate as 55Mbps / 5.5Mbps not 50/5 now. --- at least that's what came up on Cox's website the other day. I think I'll be throwing a second server online so that people can have a second TestMy.net location to test to... to help clear up any question to routing issues. Maybe I'll put it to a vote what city I put it in. I definitely want to put it far away from the main server. ... hummm Hop 8 doesn't seem to be responding correctly in a couple of those tracerts -- that may be within my host. ... 8 te2-4.dsr01.dllstx3.networklayer.com (70.87.255.38) 236.022 ms 220.118 ms 220.042 ms I'll let the datacenter know

No, but you may have a routing issue that's only effecting curtain sites that you visit. Here's a random test I just ran. Cox Communications in Phoenix Arizona, over 1000 miles from TestMy.net's server. Things are running great on TestMy.net's end. If they weren't I wouldn't be able to max my connection out like that... not to mention all the other users running normal tests (live). Are you experiencing problems anywhere else? Run a traceroute and post your findings... To run a traceroute... Windows Start > Run > type CMD [enter] > from the command prompt type tracert google.com and/or tracert testmy.net Linux / Mac Under Applications/Utilities open 'Terminal' > type traceroute google.com and/or traceroute testmy.net Paste those results here. You definitely have a very abrupt change. https://testmy.net/stats/?&t=u&d=10022011&x=60&l=100&q=dedelano

I actually haven't heard of them yet. Your results look pretty decent for satellite https://testmy.net/quickstats/fat61t Compare that to people on Direcway / Hughsnet, Wildblue and Starband -- I think you look pretty good.

That would be a hilarious April Fools page. ... and pretty weird for a speed test

Notifications were reset again, so you're going to see a bunch of notifications that you're already seen. Just mark them as read. This was done so that you guys won't be emailed every time someone on your friends list updates their status. Thanks, -CA3LE

wtf is this... haha, never played that Game named Amnesia that actually gives you amnesia. Sometimes you do get what you pay for.
-
No problem. I'm glad I could resolve that for you.
-
Are you still getting this error?
-
Ahh, you'd think I'd know what you're talking about... but I've never heard of those modules.
-
Please explain what in the hell you guys are talking about... lol

It's a kinda funny situation. My girlfriends Dad is renting his house to us. To make things easier we're just leaving the utilities in his name. We moved in yesterday and his previous level of service obviously wouldn't cut it for the stuff I do... so I thought I'd take the opportunity to display the before and after. DOCSIS 3 rules!

damn, 25Mbps! Not fair. I wonder why your download is now slower in Firefox. Does your computer tend to have a mind of it's own? Stupid ass Windows! The reason I'll be revisiting the upload test in the next versions is because of crazy connections like yours. But then again, the last time I did heavy development on the upload test logic I had a 20Mbps upload myself and I found it to be very accurate on my testing platform. ... there's a bunch of extra stuff I want that program to do anyways so I'll have fun working on that section again. ... But trust me, any issues that YOU might be having are well outside of the normal because of how extreme your upload speed is. Also, most users don't have so much porn and spyware on their computer to confuse things. Just kidding dude.

definitely give some larger tests a try
-
Okay, nevermind. I don't know what anomaly was causing that and it really doesn't matter. What I did was write in a failsafe. That error.. for the reason it was coming up for you, should be impossible in the future. TestMy will determine and convert the erroneous size and throw you the test it was supposed to. This is due to the upload system being a little different than the download test system, the upload test will be completely re-visited in my next versions of the site. -- The test was giving you the correct size determination but it was telling the upload program the size in a format the download program understands. ... Pretty easy fix really. I actually thought I has standardized that between the two, which is why I may have mistyped a variable somewhere. Oh well, it can be typed either way now, FAILSAFE! Thanks for reporting the issue, I'm sure it was only coming up in certain, very specific circumstances. But I'm a perfectionist so I don't care how often it was coming up... more the fact that it happened at all. -D
