ok one more question then i will be satisfied anyways, i want to upgrade to at least 1.5gb of ram in my laptop and i have chosen this memory http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E16820146517 will that be compatible with my acer aspire 3100-1033? i beleive it is since i did the crucial scan to see what i needed but before i pay 120 for it i want to make sure

ok, so i can still download windows updates, etc. on 3 computers with the same xp pro OEM key? cool, i thought that was the difference between OEM and Retail. if it isnt what is the difference?

i have windows xp pro OEM version installed on my pc that i built not too long ago, i dont think i can, but was wondering if i could use the isntall cd and install xp pro with it onto my laptop that have xp media center right now...? but it's OEM so i dont think it will work will it?

i love newegg, i've had one problem but htat was my fault as the adresses were wrong, but usually i either use a debit card or actually send them a check.

yeah your right sorry i'll look up another link for you edit- also this helps out alot, go here http://www.crucial.com/ and click scan my system (you'll have to download like a 200kb file) and it will say what ram is reccommended for your system

here is 2gb of ram that is fairly cheap and is good. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820141227 i'm not 100% on this but i dont think you can mix ddr and ddr2 ram, when a more experienced member reads this they will tell for sure, but when i upgrade ram i always keep the same brand, model, etc so i know it is compatible.

don't you also have to uninstall the old drivers first? just saying because my graphics card drivers wouldnt install untill i uninstalled the old ones and put new ones on and updated those.

thanks, i'm downloading now, and i'll install with the kde kernel and get everything up and running (hopefully smoothly) and i'll post up some shots if i get it working, but right nwo i gotta wait till my order gets processed and shipped from newegg since my walmart sucks and has no SATA harddrives and i'm using my only ata100 ide slot for 2 dvd drives...

cool thnx, but one noob question ...whats the difference between kde and gnome edit-tomorrow or the next day i'm going to order a new 80gig sata 3gb/s harddrive to dual boot suse on with my current 120gb sata 3gb/s xp pro harddrive, so untill then i will take any advice on suse or linux or dual booting in general
