  1. http://www.cnn.com/2005/TECH/ptech/09/15/berkeley.id.theft.reut/index.html just saw that.. maybe it is the same laptop? i dont know but it is funny..
  2. it shouldnt be to long.. My guess by the end of the month we will know..
  3. that is some good info!! Very interesting.. i will have to see if there is anything out there about this problem..
  4. That is just some of the posts.. it looks like just about everyone is having connection problems of some sort.. they seem to be on for a while then all of a sudden the router goes it to crash mode or just reboots.. the funny thing is that most of the people are finding this out because their aim is disconnected... What everyone seems to be saying is go back down to 2.50? This is almost exact same thing that happend with the 524 last month.. Shame on Dlink.. All sorts of connection problems..
  5. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4218670.stm read that then tell me what you think.. "We've taken security to the hardware level and built it in from the ground up." He also said this was part of the reason why the 360 has custom hardware instead of the off-the-shelf components the original Xbox used. Interestingly, Mr. Satchell admits that he expects someone will eventually break the security Microsoft has included, but "it doesn't mean that it will work on somebody else's machine." I am very skeptical when hardware manufacturers say their devices are hack-proof, or at least incredibly difficult to hack; the hacker community usually bypasses security on these in days or weeks. The interesting difference with the Xbox 360 is that Mr. Satchell's comments suggest a method of security that differs among each console. How MS has done that I don't quite know. If that is the case, though, it will be a very long time before we see a 360 running Linux. http://www.geek.com/news/geeknews/2005Sep/bga20050912032221.htm
  6. Soph at Purdue University..
  7. Here is what I dug up from the linksys site.. What i was able to get out of Linksys' discription.. is that it is going to be 54g on roids.. but more affordable.. the srx200 is on sale at newegg for 106.00.. that was for the WRT54GX Router with SRX base on the Airgo chip set which my guess is the 1.0 version of the product on the right in the pic above.. so the product on the left is going to be based on the new cheaper chip set.. hince the $30 price tag difference.. 106 to 140ish.. My guess is that we will see about 15-18Mbps at 120 ft.. and at 160 around 10Mbps..
  8. throw some high quality pics up here.. that looks interesting..
  9. The reason that everyone says that is because most of the time less than 24hours after the problem is found there is a patch to it.. unlike microsoft where you have to wait til the next month's security release or if the problem is worse enough it is released early..
  10. there is your answer..
  11. They might be focusing on Katrina restore.. That is more important that getting an upgrade to the users that have service..
  12. update your java.. my guess is you are running an older version.. there is a link at the bottom of that site that says this..
  13. what was the topic?
  14. your problem is the firewall on the router.. http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DI-624/Azureus.htm read that.. if ya have question let us know! If you want the connection to stay, so you dont have to change it.. you are going to need to assign static ips to the computers.. I would do this anyways.. From my experience macs dont play nice on networks when they are with windows machines..
  15. 1.07 is on its way according to anandtech..
  16. I dont know about employment.. it might be in that number.. i would have to find the actual report to see what all is in that figure.. But design huge.. i will agree..

  19. Yeah my guess is that is going to be their internet/ site to site connection... If they are going to be using fiber that might mean that you will see fiber shortly.. If they are going to be bring in a huge conneciton.. my guess would be that soon it would be available to consumers..
  20. my guess is that the number of people jumped and that caused the frequency to change slightly.. causing the packet loss and slow speeds..
  21. The MX1000 is a class 1 laser.. it has a power of .5miliwatts.. there is no danger to the eye or body.. other devices that use class 1 are cd players and small laser printers.
  22. looks interesting.. I saw an article earlier in the week about the sub $100 MIMO router from linksys.. this is the one.. based on true G it doesnt have the same range as a True MIMO router.. but that is alright.. it is still going to be better than what is out there.. I too am waiting for benchmarks.. http://www.airgonetworks.com/TrueG_062105.html
  23. hmm.. that is an odd problem.. are you sure that you dont have the internet halt on? right click the icon an make sure that Halt internet traffic is not selected..
  24. It is an average of all the tests run on the comcast ips.. so that is anything from 3000-7000.. looks like you are on the 7000 package.. hard to tell cause you can get the 6000 package to tweak up to those speeds.. post an upload score..
  25. yeah.. it just amazing that the computer even run at all with all the extra crap they put on them... Make sure that you run windows update to get all of the new security patches..
