Question for people with verizon 15/2 fios package
KingCobra replied to Chais's topic in Verizon FIOS
Hard to say. You haven't said much about your hardware. It's possible there could be a hardware issue on your end but I doubt it. Since I don't use the peer apps, I can't comment on how to tweak them to get the best speed. I would imagine the issue you are seeing is more related to the application and it's use of the stack. Are there some good studies of bittorrent, how it handles acknowledgements, frame size implications, etc.? If so, you might need to do some research to make effective use of the pipe you have. -
This thread was supposed to be for kewl desktops, not general help. Don't make me delete it...

The official location for the firmware is http://www2.verizon.net/micro/dlink/Default.asp If your connection is working and you are getting advertised speeds, then there's no reason to change.

Question for people with verizon 15/2 fios package
KingCobra replied to Chais's topic in Verizon FIOS
Benchmarking our connections is actually an interesting problem. -
Don't discount the fact that the problem could be on Verizon's end. Did you get full speeds at install time? If so, did you change anything afterwards? If not, call the help desk and open a trouble ticket. I had issues initially on my business FIOS changeover. It wasn't anything on my end.

Are you uploading and downloading from two different machines on your network? If not, can you describe the disk array on the machine in use? Are you uploading and downloading from different web, ftp or other sites during this process? What sites are you testing against? Could you please describe if those sites have excellent bandwidth or not. thanks. -
I've never really noticed or tried.

In a major victory for the two largest phone companies, the Texas House passed major legislation Sunday to create greater competition for the cable television industry and ultimately transfer authority for TV service from cities to state regulators.
