    Got Sound?

I've got three ideas. 1.Is there a volume control on your speakers/back of soundcard? or 2.Some sound cards have their own sound control app. My Audigy Gamer has the "Creative Sound mixer". and 3. You've probably done it, but double click the speaker icon in the task bar, and see if the volume is too low or if something's muted by mistake.
  2. Welcome to the site, streaimsun. Your LAN connection may be 10Mb, but your ISP probably isn't. Your speed does too slow though. Read the tips and sticky topics on this board.
  3. Huh? I don't get it either. steadyhunter, could you explain it better? BTW, welcome to the site.
  4. Welcome to the site, twinkcentral Nice speeds.
  5. We could have a section where people rate/review their ISP. It would be helpful for people that may want to change ISP's. Yea, I know, stealing ideas from BBR .
  6. I know when I was on the old Attbi.com service, you could do the change on the web. It was through "sas.ne2.attbi.com" (site no longer active). You could add a mac/computer or change one. This was when Attbi, didn't force you to use a router and single IP address. BTW, welcome back swimmer. Where have you been?
  7. Welcome to the site, steadyhunter. Comcast is in the middle of an upgrade. Soon you should see speeds of 6Mb/384/Kb.
  8. I agree with raptors. You may have a messed up file related to the display properties section, or it could be a virus. The hourglass icon isn't staying on, right?
  9. Both what, the computer and the router? Most ISP's keep track of your MAC address to make sure you only have one computer or router connected at a time. They do it, usually to conserve IP address's
  10. If you don't know your advertized speeds you can call Verizon to find out. After you know your speeds, that makes it a lot eaiser for us to help. Have you read the tips and sticky (first two) topics on this board yet?
  11. Looks good. Welcome to the site, xrock05x.
  12. Try unplugging your modem, unplug the router. Let the modem stay off for about a minute, (to"reset"). Plug your computer into the modem and then plug the modem back in. Some times you may have to reset the modem a few times for it to work. Resetting the modem, clears out the mac address currently set for it. If it doesn't work, you may have to call your ISP.
  13. I hear different "official" numbers all the time. Earlier this year I heard 34 Million, then a few months I heard 22 Million, so who knows. Their numbers seem to vary widely each time I hear them
  14. Umm, Ca3le I just noticed something. Look at the message I quoted, and then the pic.

  16. I got this from the Comcast forums. It's from four messages posted by a Comcast tech in the topic linked below.: http://forums.comcast.net/thread.jspa?threadID=42887&tstart=0 Posts: 3,241 From: [email protected] Anon38635, Comcast monitors the network in your area and if there is an exuberant amount of bandwidth being consumed on your node, Comcast will pick out the bandwidth hogs on that node and warn them to decrease their usage or sign up for a higher tier of service. So basically, there is not a limit on how much bandwidth you are allowed to use and we recommend that you use the Internet for what you want without worrying about bandwidth restrictions. If your usage is found to be excessive and degrades others connected to your node, you will be given a warning first and then asked to reduce the usage within the next 30 day cycle. If usage is decreased to a nominal level, no further action is taken against the customer. But if the excessive use is continued, the account may be suspended for a few months. Hope this answers the question but please post back if you have any additional questions. Posts: 3,241 From: [email protected] Registered: 2/17/04
  17. And the extra spam. You should just get a firewall and antivirus program(s) seperatly.

  20. Windows Vista, IE7 Betas Leak to Web By Nate Mook, BetaNews July 28, 2005, 12:10 PM UPDATED Windows Vista Beta 1Less than 24 hours after Microsoft announced the release of Windows Vista Beta 1 and Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1 to testers and MSDN subscribers, both betas have leaked to Internet sites and newsgroups along with a crack for Windows Product Activation, according to BetaNews sources. The Vista download weighs in at close to 2.5GB, but the operating system's heft did not keep the pirates away. The next-generation Windows beta likely uses the same activation technology found in Windows XP, which was compromised long ago. Such a leak is not that surprising considering over 10,000 beta testers were included in the first round of testing alone. Those numbers do not count MSDN subscribers who were also given access to the Beta 1 bits. Alpha builds of the operating system, then code-named Longhorn, have frequently leaked from Microsoft labs during development. And Microsoft encountered the same problems with Windows Whistler, which later became Windows XP. Internet Explorer 7 Beta 1, which is available within Windows Vista and on its own, requires Windows Genuine Advantage verification to install, sources said. Microsoft opted not to make the first beta publicly available, and has not set a timeline for the final release of its long-awaited new Web browser. "Windows Vista Beta 1 is a very early build designed specifically for software developers and IT professionals to begin testing for the Windows Vista platform," a Microsoft spokesperson told BetaNews. "While we understand that the industry is excited about the release of the first Windows Vista Beta, we do not recommend downloading the code on a production machine unless you are a participant in one of the above Microsoft programs as it is designed for a very specific technical audience." 21. It looks good for now. Comcast is in the middle of an upgrade. The new speeds will be 6Mb/384Kb and 8Mb/768Kb
  22. Us Comcast users only got upgraded by 2Mb. Come on Comcast!!
  23. I view the feed from Yahoo! News, on the top right of the page. It works in FF, at least for me.
  24. Yep, those were the "dark days" here. The karma system was being abused and some people didn't like how others were just clicking on the aplaud or smite buttons to help or hurt others.
