  1. IP catching can be done with "netstat /a" in DOS, if you have a direct connection with the person you want the IP of. Port blocker is a firewall, either hardware or software.
  2. Unless the system doesn't have the CD-drive in the boot order.
  3. I know, I use it, and will use it on my next setup.
  4. Note: Very few 6800GS cards have unlockable pipes. The memory will give the motherboard the preferred settings, then you can change it. A higher FSB will give more performace than just increasing the multiplier.
  5. That can't possibly be serious. Such ignorance centered in just one person would cause an implosion.
  6. I don't want to kill my 6600GT yet. Dilatedpeoples28: I haven't seen a cpu pass the 1 frame per second yet.
  7. Even though an Intel CPU is used, still only mac stuff runs on a max. Unless you're still running on something like a pentium 2 you won't need a new computer, turning off all eyecandy on vista should make it run on much slower systems too.
  8. Nope, still CPU limited. Especially because of the fact that it's a Intel motherboard.
  9. That setup has a huge problem with heat and is incredibly CPU limited. It's not the future of videocards, jost an oddity.
  10. The expected release date is March for the OCZ Phase Change thingy.
  11. But that 3700+ costs quite a bit more than the slower optys, while the optys are made to last cuz they're supposed to survive in server situations. These are the steps in CPU/GPU cooling: Air cooling Water cooling thermoelectric, aka peltier chilled watercooling phase change dry ice, or DICE liquid nitrogen, or LN2 While it does give lower temperatures than watercooling, it takes a lot of power to run peltier cooling AFAIK. If you're willing to spend 400 on cooling, wait for OCZ' phase change system, it'll cost about 300 - 350 and give sub-zero temps.
  12. In some situations I would use lowest quality just to see more than those that use highest quality. FPS and the ability to see more are more important than eye-candy to me
  13. This topic has been moved to Overclocking. [iurl]http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=10973.0[/iurl]
  14. About a hundred dollars, problably a bit more.
  15. I doubt CA3LE would notice, the last time (months ago even) I saw usage stats they were far beyond a single person can affect.
  16. Alienware is beaten by other systems, such as those built by OPC by quite a bit. Definatly overpriced too.
  17. Actually, the Athlon 64 FX-60 would be better.
  18. No need to worry about the 128 MB ram, it's fine as the card doesn't pack enough punch to allow playing at the higher resolutions anyway.
  19. This is required to run the 3d version. 2d requirements will be lower, and you can most likely run Vista at any computer capable of running XP.
  20. lol, you owned that server. Do donate it to testmy.net
  21. This one is going to be soo CPU limited that it's pretty much a joke. A Dell with these specs...Sigh.
  22. And remove the 128 MB pc2100 while you're at it, it's not going to be helpful with the added 512 MB.
  23. An inactive, but gaming troll is what I am. Almost sounds like an oxymoron to me.
