Win98, and if you strip down XP far enough it'll problably run as well.
  2. Copycats. Already done here in Holland, and ISPs were not pleased with it. It's such an ineffective way of fighting anything, and ruthlessly murders another part of your privacy. Stupid politicians.
  3. That's SpeedStep for Intel, Cool'n'Quiet for AMD. Usually the first setting to turn off when overclocking, although some keep it on for the power saving features. Good if you don't have the money to run at full speed all the time, aka made for students.
  4. Intel needs the bigger cache because of no integrated mem controller, so if it needs to fetch something from the memory it slows down a lot more than any AMD with HTT. AMD is working on bigger cache though, with ZRAM.
  5. Just ran FAH at my dad's comp, 65C in 30 minutes. No way I'm gonna let it run like that. But it doesn't really matter, seems like I can crunch em fast enough with two computers.
  6. I don't think he'll notice, but when things go wrong he'll eventually find it. Not gonna risk it.
  7. Yup, and next week I'll be adding another computer to fold for me. A pity it's just for that week. (dad's comp, and he's on vacation)
  8. I'd rather look at resopalrabotnick's avatar than post spam. I'm serious.
  9. AMD also needs time to tweak the DDR2 mem controller, the original was exceptionally efficient, but this one isn't yet.
  10. Actually, Conroe may be that much better than P4s, in gaming there's not such an obvious difference and the 2 - 10% increase from going AM2 might often be able to close the gap or even surpass Conroe. Not to mention AMD on 65nm, which will bring higher clocks, cooler CPUs and bigger yields. This year, computer hardware is going through some very interesting evolutions.
  11. Just two years here, and I'm not even the worst spammer
  12. Back to running 2 computer 24/7. 8th place here I come

  14. That's bad, it would make us responsible if a member here post something really really bad. It's always the opinion of the poster, so how on earth can the admin be responsible? Seems the judge is behind in technology.
  15. And that's why I don't live in America... too many people making such absurd chains of thoughts.
  16. Avatar is a goblinhead (naturally), and was found somewhere in june 2002, I stuck with it. Sig contains a quote from bash.org and a link to the Goblin Rhyme, a story of 10 goblins dying in some strange ways.

  18. I'll use whatever's faster and more reliable. Conroe as CPU is very promising, but there are no motherboards for it out yet, which gives no guarantee on stability. For now, it's AMD... [email protected] ftw. It's basically as fast as a FX-55 for a third of the price.

  20. Problably not, but you never know.
  21. Decent. Howsabout upload?
  22. That depends on how fast you normally download, as a higher speed result isn't always more accurate. Do a real download after/before a test on a server you know can max out your connection, then check the difference. It's pretty rare that testmy.net is not the most accurate test for someone, and when it isn't the problem is usually the routing.
  23. The reasons are there, but I don't think Bush was involved. Humans do love conspiracies though.
  24. Um, no way you can have a socket 939 system with only 2 MB ram. Whatever you may have in there, it's certainly capable of maxing your speed out.
