  2. This is just a thought but if you have 5 static IPs why not just use a switch instead of a router and hard set your IPs on your equipment just a thought.
  3. Hello I have never dealt with the VOIP equipment but from past research I believe the following information may be of use to you. First I think if a integrated T1 line would be a opition for you it may be the best way to go here here are a couple link and a little bit of info I hope this is a help to you. Here is the link with more info on thee integrated t1 http://www.homebizjour.com/n/t1-line-solutions.htm Integrated T1 Line: An Integrated T1 Line is one of the most popular T1 solutions for small businesses because it provides local telephone service, long distance, and bandwidth all on a single connection and a single bill. The consolidation of these services with one company is more convenient and more cost effective than purchasing them from separate providers. Just as a Fractional T1 line only turns on a portion of a T1 Line for Internet access, special equipment allows some of the T1 channels to be allocated for telephone lines, while others are used for data transmission and Internet access. For example, a Full Integrated T1 line could be divided in half using special equipment, providing 12 high quality telephone lines and using the other 12 channels for 768k of bandwidth. Fractional Integrated T1 lines are also available, but most companies have minimum levels such as 4 phone lines and 512k of Internet access, which only uses 12 channels combined. Many offers even include "blocks" of free long distance, usually based on the number of telephone lines being installed. A typical offer might include 6 phone lines(6 channels), 512k (8 channels), and 600 minutes of free LD each month (100 per telephone line). This entire circuit could have a total cost as low as $400 to $500 per month, which is a tremendous "all inclusive" bargain for small businesses. This is a perfect total solution for literally thousands, if not millions, of small companies across the nation. One thing to keep in mind is that not all providers can offer Integrated T1 Lines, so the ones that do typically focus a great deal of their sales efforts on this service. This link may be of help in finding a provider to fit your needs http://www.T1Line.com If you decide to put something together your self here is a link where you can get the equipment http://www.digitalwarehouse.com/Adtran/ I hope this helps you also I hope everything I have posted here is correct if I am mistaken in any way feel free to correct me
  4. Thought I would post my upload I pay for a 3meg down and 256 up and as long as I run netscape 8.0 or firefox I am a little faster than the average charter customer I just wish they offered a better upstream than 256 here is my upload :::.. Upload Stats ..::: Connection is:: 263 Kbps about 0.3 Mbps (tested with 579 kB) Upload Speed is:: 32 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server1) Test Time:: Sun Oct 30 2005 14:35:35 GMT-0600 (Central Standard Time) Bottom Line:: 5X faster than 56K 1MB upload in 32 sec Diagnosis: Awesome! 20% + : 28.29 % faster than the average for host (charter.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-6ZXV17TQP IE has always been my choice of browser but the best download I can get with it is 2.7meg so I will stick with netscape 8.0 although Firefox is good also I just like the lay out of netscape just a little better. Another thing I have noticed is the response time of there DNS servers they have 3 dns servers the primary one 68.115.xxx.xxx in my area is slower when I ping it 26ms, 28ms, 21ms,30ms due to usage I am pertty sure but the 2nd DNS 24.196.xxx.xxx is about the same as the primary and there third DNS 24.159.xxx.xxx is faster 19ms,17ms,17,ms 18ms so being I let my router obtain my IP auto I have always hard set my PCs connections I just use the least used DNS server #s (there 3rd one) as my primary my home network seems to all around run better and with the dns hard set on the PCs I believe it save a step for my router makeing my home network just a little happier

  7. Give me a break I am so tired of people saying the federal gov. was slow to respond I suppose you think you could have done better? First of all most of those people should have never been there they had time to GET OUT and chose not to sure some couldnt because of health. The other side of the coin is that people that live on flood plains or people that build levies to dry up the land so they can build !! never mind your kind never listen anyway
  8. Here is a email written by Jim who has been dealing first hand with the Hurricane Katrina I found this in a artical on http://www.renewamerica.us/columns/gaynor/050906 "In case you are wondering if the reports from the New Orleans area were exaggerated ... Not a chance! "We (Josh and I) just arrived back from Houston where 8 members of our Civil Air Patrol Squadron (Apollo Composite Squadron based at Georgetown airport -Texas) assisted the multi-agency disaster response team (the first time this has been activated on this scale). Our squadron also provided a HF communications (long distance capable and self-sufficient running off batteries and later a generator) in case it was required. "The team that we were working with handled incoming aircraft from the New Orleans airport. They were transporting nursing home and hospital patients, as well as seriously injured victims that is some cases were taken from the helicopter to the airlift aircraft. We received some patients that were still wearing wet clothes from being pulled from the water! "Aircraft were from the Air Force and Coast Guard, and included C-130's and some C-141's (both sizable cargo planes suited for the job). "The team included Veterans Administration, US Army, US Navy, NASA, US Air Force, Coast Guard, Civil Air Patrol and other civilians. That is quite a feat.... "The team was based at Ellington Field (south of Houston). "Over 700 patients ranging for critically injured to ambulatory were off loaded and processed from 21 aircraft by the time we left Sunday afternoon, when the team was told to stand down. This was done because other disaster relief cities were getting setup to help in the effort. Aircrews were telling us that they had requested to be sent to Houston due to the quick turn around professionalism of the team at Ellington. I have been involved in several government and military operations in the past and this was by far the BEST run with NO interagency headaches or bickering. Between aircraft there was cleaning restocking and more cleaning to be done plus setting up for the next aircraft. "Due to the fact that once an aircraft was in the air they could be diverted anywhere that a disaster response team is located, the first thing we said to a victim was 'Welcome to Houston' ... several though they were supposed to be in Atlanta ... but that was a problem with weather and not bad planning. "We stayed with our patients from the time they arrived through registration, triage, stabilization, and on to get them their 1st meal some had has since before the hurricane. During that time, we heard tales of the last few days particularly from the recently rescued from the water (they ALL considered themselves rescued). Note, as a strict rule we did NOT ask any of the victims what happened to them nor what they had been through. Some were not able to talk at all. Some were taken to the hospital directly from the aircraft ... others to the morgue. "One man told us he had laid in [an] alley in the same position (legs contorted from his injuries) 'flat on my back watching and waiting to be found by rescuers and hoping that he was not found by the bad people that were raising hell, hurting people and running around stealing ... I am so embarrassed to be from the same place they call home'. He was so glad to be anywhere but there. He told me that the water he got on the plane and the boxed dinner was the first thing he had had since the hurricane. "One couple that was visiting New Orleans when she was hospitalized for an illness was to be released the day before hurricane. However, she had minor complications and they opted to stay put rather than leave town. After the storm pasted they had to be moved from her room to the inner part of the hospital since their hospital windows were being shot out by gunman ... they were on the eight floor. The bottom floor had many bodies in it as they made their way out of the building ... they said 'not many of them were from injuries from the storm.' "An elderly woman was asking to be put into a cab to be driven back to her home. She was not very coherent, but was certain that she would be able to get back to her home. She did not want to be anywhere else! Her injuries were particularly troubling since they were from being beaten and not from the storm. She had been sown up with regular sewing thread (not medical grade) by someone who had done a very good job (as in a doctor or nurse). "There were a great deal of folks that were just sick and old being transported from nursing homes or hospitals. "One elderly man was being signed in and was asking for his wife ... she had been loaded on a different aircraft and he was not sure if she had even been flown to Houston or not. As a member of our squadron got her name and started searching for her she was wheeled up by his stretcher. Their response was kind of thing that made ALL of the work worthwhile ... and THEN some." "I want to address one subjected that was brought up by a couple of victims. RACE ... The older man mentioned above found in an alley (mentioned above) said something very interesting on the subject. 'The folks that are saying racism had anything to do with how we were treated or ignored should BE ASHAMED of themselves as THEM are being the RACISTS! I watched as the rescuers tried to do their job and as you folks are doing your jobs ... some of you are brothers here some are Mexican some are Asian a lot are white but you are ALL here helping TOGETHER ..'. . I did not mention but this gentleman is black as were most but not all of the victims we saw. This was an equal opportunity disaster ... it just happened to occur where a large number of the people were black. The inability to get aid to them was due to the daunting task needed to mobilize and support a force needed to do the job. [Emphasis added.] "To a person there were all very glad to be out and very grateful for all of the workers help ... particularly the they mentioned several time the young kids in uniforms (there were high school kids in Jr ROTC and our cadets age 13 and up). They had just come from the mayhem, danger and lawlessness they were glad to see the kids because they knew that if the kids were there it was safe and controlled environment. In case you are wondering yes we all kept an extra special watch on all the kids to be sure they were as safe as possible ... to the point of having to inform them at the end of shifts that yes that HAD to leave sleep / rest. They wanted to keep working and helping. "Unlike the dome (Astrodome and Superdome) which is a WHOLE different story and subject.

  11. some people are like sheep with no thoughts of there own just following the person in front of them. If you like you can prove this to yourself sometime durning rush hour traffic and it is moving slow your board say around 30 or 40 mph slowly drift over to the white line on the right and then slowly back towards the center line do this a few times but keep it smooth and slow now look back at the cars behind you it kind of reminds me of a snake this works best on a nice straight piece of freeway. It shows you how many people just follow the tail lights in front of them these paypal and ebay...ect scams only work and keep showing up because people dont think for themselves.
  12. I run a little program that uses the world time server to keep my pc clock with in a second or 2 of the atomic clock out of Denver I believe it is located. 15. I feel NASA should go back to discovering and man moon flights or even mars and leave the orbital flights to the private sector look at SpaceShip One sure it needs work yet but they did something nasa cant do they had to go into orbit, return to earth and relaunch back into orbit in a 14 day time period to win the x prize and did it. Take a look at the small amout of electronics Spaceship 1 uses compared to nasa here is a link to there site http://www.space.com/missionlaunches/xprize_full_coverage.html
  16. I have been using F-Secure and have had no problem if you are a charter customer with the 3meg package its free Used norton for awhile and hated it even after I uninstalled it I had to use a command promt window to remove crap it left behind. AVG Free version seems to work ok and sygate works well also but I personaly like F-Secure the best. http://www.f-secure.com/
  17. The launch went well but it sounds like a piece of heat shield may have come off durning the launch also sounds like they hit a bird and lost a piece of the foam. Inspections of Discovery's heat shield began this morning about 5:40 a.m. EDT. Crewmembers are using cameras and a special boom on the robot arm to inspect Discovery's wings, nose cap, and crew cabin. Also, crewmembers are slated to use handheld cameras to inspect tiles on the Orbital Maneuvering System pods. The crew's inspections are slated to last seven hours. Engineers on the ground are using the imagery and data from today
  18. it really depends what kind of equipment you are using with a DS5800 up to 30+ miles, with a Ether-Ant 2.4Ghz customer unit up to around 8 to 10 miles put a few pine trees in the mix and more like 4 or 5 miles. Use a Ether-ant LR it has a built in amp up to 18 miles LOS. Buildings and trees reduce range I have a couple customers that are only 3 miles from the tower but are non line of site, these locations require a long range unit because of obstructions that make line of site impossible we I have a few units in use that are only 9db they are close to tower with good line of site. It does make it interesting because every install in different and requires different equipment.
  19. I used a little utility written in machine code called idserve 27kb in size
