If cablenut shows 128480 RWIN and the speedguide analyzer shows 64240, then it is likely that the router is limiting throughput. Try this test: http://www.testmy.net/d_load.php?ni=1&st=st&tt=1&ta=1&top=mirror-ShaneAU&out_src=20MB

adiace, are you connecting to a router? is it wireless? have you tried making a direct connection to the modem with your PC, resetting modem and PC, and trying your speed test again? Also, if you could provide a screenshot of your cablenut settings?
-
Could the router possibly disable window scaling on throughput?

Try this and post results: http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=6415.0;attach=9950

This is also a good diagnostic tool which will run traceroute and ping. http://www.ks-soft.net/ip-tools.eng/

Do you have a router? Does your computer connect via ethernet? <hr> Try this netshell command from the command prompt: netsh int ip reset c:resetlog.txt Then powercycle all network devices, reboot PC. After that, check IPCONFIG/ALL. If 169.254.x.x or 0's, try IPCONFIG/RENEW and see what error message you get.

Open the registry, and look in the Software section of both HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Software titles are listed by manufacturer, deleting the key then rebooting should do the trick.

I would suggest, in addition to using a proxy for filtered web access, that your school implement a router with some thick rules. Block all ports that aren't necessary, disable NetBIOS, FTP, etc. and set up a Client/Server OS where you can administrate system access. If nobody there knows how to do this, then you should hire somebody who does; for the expense, it would be well worth it. You don't want kids grades getting messed with, that's pretty serious stuff, isn't it?!

What OS? Do you have DSL? Try starting here: http://www.testmy.net/forum/t-6025.0

If you have XP Service Pack 2, be sure to get the P2P fix: [LINK] Run THIS and THIS and post back results. Then I would look into Cablenut, read about it HERE. There is a 10000 file in VanBurens_cablenut_settings_version_8.zip, and a 6000/512 file in Version 7. Either should work fine for you. Any questions, just ask.

Yeah, House is a great show, my fav on TV now. I don't really watch too many sitcoms. My wife and I are currently watching ER seasons 1 through 4.

-Restart your PC, shutdown firewalls (including Windows'), realtime protection, popup blockers and browser extensions, then try THIS TEST . -Also, some hardware stats would help: processor, RAM, router.... -How many processes do you have running at startup? -Have you tried testing with another browser? (Internet Explorer vs. Firefox) -Please run this free online scan: www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan -Another thing you can try is to boot into safe mode with networking and run a download speed test

-
Welcome to the forum, patontheback. Looks like some trouble with the line. Try the Line Packet Loss Tests here: http://www.dslreports.com/tools Also, for more accuracy, try a ping with a higher number of packets: ping -n 50 www.testmy.net
