  1. This person probably did not target you specifically....probably just grabbed your IP block and scanned the whole thing. Sometimes, if a person's computer has been hacked, it will become a host for hacking activity, even though the owner of that computer (and IP address) does not know. So somebody may have run a port scan from that computer remotely. Who knows...but it should still be reported.
  2. I'm getting that too right now. I know that there are some updates and changes currently in progress for this site. I'm sure that Ca3le dude will have that fixed up in no time. If you refresh the page, it might go away.
  3. You firewall has blocked the attempt, so that is a good sign. If you have the IP address, look it up at www.arin.net/whois and find the ISP. It will usually supply a contact for customer abuse. I would let them know that somebody from the IP is performing port scans....provide logs from your firewall and as much other info as possible. This should be brought to their attention.
  4. I would say an instrumental track from artists such as Tricky or Massive Attack. ....unless its a noble gas, then we're talking Beethoven's 9th Symphony.
  5. Your first hop shows a problem with communication to the modem (the times should be less than 10ms). If you have another PC in the home, I would connect it directly to the modem, run a trace, and see if the first hop is any better. Also, try another ethernet cable (you are connecting ethernet vs. USB?). If this does not resolve the first hop, call your ISP for a new modem.
  6. Quicker than most.
  7. ah-buh That trace is ug-ly. Are you connected directly to your modem? If not, do so. If so, try resetting your modem. If the trace is not any better after that, call up your ISP!
  8. If you are able to post a traceroute, it will be easier to see where there may be an issue.
  9. DHCP for IPv6 (DHCPv6) implementation is popping up here and there for commercial use, but is not well-used for residential connections, for the most part. It is possible that the routers in your ISP's network, and in the backbone they use, are not configured optimally for communication over IPv6; they are most likely using IPv4 exclusively. Check this out: http://www.tahi.org/dhcpv6/ I would call up your ISP if you want definite answers.
  10. Looks like a bad connection between the router and the cable modem. Can you connect your PC directly to the modem and run the ping and trace again?
  11. Hmmm..... http://www.simulationexams.com/
  12. Are you able to ping? If so, I would restore your browser defaults (help here). Also shut down your firewall, and scan for spyware.
  13. Hello, and welcome to the forum! Please start here: http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=2097.0 Post back as much info as you can.
  14. I would just like to say something about this from experience. It may seem logical that a slowdown during the same times each day would be due to network congestion. But this is not always the case. There can be many other explanations for regular performance degredation. Equipment overheating, local power issues causing modem signals to wonk out. Just because it is not a software/OS issue, it does not mean that it is a network issue. There's lots in between.
  15. I googled mup.sys and it brought up some stuff....mostly forums...there's usually some good stuff in there. I'd take a peek if the issue is persisting with safe mode boot, and see if you find anything that helps: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=mup.sys
  16. Extract and run THIS and post the log it creates.
  17. Try THIS TEST. Post results.
  18. Very true. Plus, software can make mistakes. The stamp don't lie.
  19. :haha: I like your way of thinking

  21. I remember when my step-father got a Toshiba 386 laptop and thinking how sweet it was.... (I think that was before they put CD-ROMs in them)
  22. I agree with Pitbull. I wouldn't touch a thing, you're lookin real good.
  23. Try this online scan: http://www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan/
  24. Are you on Comcast's 6 Meg package?
  25. Ping and trace look good. I would agree with Gib4500 in that you are likely on the 1.5M package, judging from your speed tests. You can look into tweaking your OS using a program called Cablenut. Read HERE
