  1. SBC doesn't monitor bandwidth? I thought all DSL ISP's did that. Or do you mean capping and blacklist because of over-downloading/-uploading?
  2. Trace could be better.
  3. If that is while going through your router, the answer may well be yes. After reviewing the trace, I believe that there is somewhat of an incompatability between the router and the modem. The hops in the trace going from your router to the modem are over 20ms, which is too high, and would cause speed loss. Options are: upgrade router firmware, replace cable b/w router and modem, or direct connect. You may also want to try using the reset button on the router (usually a pinhole) to reset to factory defaults.
  4. The best answer would be to call your ISP.
  5. Please read the sticky [LINK] and post as much info as possible.
  6. Well then, looking pretty good. I would suggest reading the STICKY just in case you find something you may have over looked. Otherwise, download cablenut [LINK].
  7. What are your advertised speeds?
  8. Yeah, the timeouts are strange, but do not seem to me to reflect any hardware issue.
  9. I know, its a cruel joke. And yes, I have read that thread. It is quite the chronicle, and has my thumbs up for dial-up tweaking official online textbook. I don't know what I can do for you, but I'm more than willing to try. Where would you like to start?
  10. Welcome fatcat. That is a cached test. Clear your browser cache and test again.
  11. Wow, that is insane.
  12. What I mean to say is, a wired connection is faster than a wireless.
  13. Hello and welcome, dslnoob. Looks like you are on the right track. The first stop you should make is the sticky (click HERE). If you can paste the info from there, that would help us much. As far as help with tweaking, I would suggest using cablenut. That is the program most supported in this forum, and has a very high success rate.

  16. Hello, jdub, and welcome to the forum. Got some timeouts in the trace there, which would explain a speed loss. What are your ISP and advertised speeds? Are you connected to a router? Also, be sure to check out the sticky, found HERE.
  17. When you go wireless, you can guarantee speed loss right away.

  19. Sorry, those tests were all from the same PC?
  20. Try direct connection to the modem to see if speeds are much better. If they are, I would look into upgrading the firmware on the router from Netgear's website.
  21. Yeah, just open the cablenut adjuster, then open the .ccs file. Click to save the settings to your registry and reboot. Settings are now applied.
  22. Are all the speedtests shown in your first post done with the same PC? If so, it looks like your PC (at least NIC) and your connection are good. I would look into updating both the firmware for your router and the drivers for your wireless card from their respective vendor's websites.
  23. Bypass your router and do another trace.
  24. Ooooh, that's bad. You got a router in your home?
