Please don't delete any of that stuff in there, those are not users, those are system settings, and such. Chances are, if you delete those things, your system will have more problems then you want. If you want to clean your system, then try using software such as spybot , that software will get rid of internet tracks, un used "things" layng around messing other "things" up. Even then , stick to the basic settings, otherwise you can delete data that you need.

to see what users are logged on, you can simply hit control & alt & delte keys, all at the same time, a window will open that has several tabs on it, look around in there see what you can see as far as what users are currently active, and what the network a tivivty is. If you want to see how many accounts there are on the machine, then go to control panel, users account

  6. Run the 100MB test for more accurate results Clear your browser cache first.
  7. Well depends on what your booting to, if it's an OS then you'll have to install the drivers for the USB device, if it's a utility, then your stuck, unless you load the USB driver first.
  8. I agree, sometimes when we shut them off like that, they get corrupted. I always go back to putting the installation disk in, booting to it, then install , then repair, it will search for previous versions , then choose repair, it takes as long as it would to install, but if it wont boot , then there's only a couple things you can do. And unless your pretty good at manually modifying the MBR by booting from a utility such as parted, and I don't recommend it if your new to it.

  12. From what I understand there is a shift in the leadership, and until this is resolved, which should be soon, then it's really up to us, separately, and united. So we need to keep politics out of it the best we can, which it really shouldn't be involved anyhow, and educate ourselves
  13. Fantastic ! Thanks for doing that, much appreciated

    yo all!

Hello Relient F , glad you joined us, I'm sure you will have not pnly fun here at testmy.net, but being an advanced computer user, you'll end up being an asset as well. As far as the TOS here at testmy.net, since Linux is an open source operating system, there are no copy write issues, so please fill us in, post what you are using, were all here for pretty much the same reason, we not only enjoy learning new things about computing, but making sure were getting the most speed from our connection. Please, if you have any questions about anything, at all, feel free to post , in whatever board. I'm interested in the equipment your using as well, sounds fantastic ! And expensive like you say. Of course were always going to have Microsoft trying to get there hands in on every little thing they can, thats what there all about, for the most art. At any rate, hope to see you around , Mudmanc4 I forgot to mention, you must set the time to keep you logged in when you enter your name, and password, there is a selection to keep you logged in all the time, it will place a cookie in your browser.

  20. I can live with that if you explain how a number generator ( usually random ) will mysteriously know what the key that was printed on the outside of the box is , see what I mean ? or not
  21. Awesome speeds for an awesome price !
  22. Yea I do, and thats when i found out that what AVG was reporting as a virus, was one of those false positive BS things ( for the record , I don't go for that ) lol
  23. Sparky I don't think he meant anything derogatory, but maybe . WOW we need to get that quad core runnin a console version, with that , you can actually get two instances running per core, yea, that's eight "cores" running on that one proc ! Yoy could easily be pushing 4-6000 ppd on that machine alone, not certain , Id'e have to look at the proc specs in the database, but either way, the best way to find out, would be to do it. I'll do whatever you want to help you out, I just want to see that thing go, I'm all itching and shit to get that thing up ! Like i said, Iv'e never had real good luck , as far as the PPD on the gui versions, there just for people just getting into it, nd who havent' spent much time on it, but by the looks of your posts, your gonna be getting into this thing, and you'll most likely, w/ what you have access to, be rounding up to the top spot in several months
  24. coffee / java / and my personal favorite swedish gasoline never put sugar , or honey, or milk cream whatever in your bean juice, it somehow counteracts the caffeine qualities, so you actually could get more tired then you were before you drank your daily grind. aar, yea, from the looks of your post, your in dire need of one of the last legal drugs, pushed ferociously by street corner chumps marketing off the fast pace lifestyles as were trying to compete with the electronic machines that we've created to make our live uhm, easier ? :haha: So sit back for a french press or two, and think it over
  25. First have a beer, thenrealise that you can only activate as you saty so many times, thy eare stingy strange like that, all you have to do is call them , and go through there little hoop, then you'll be fine. As far as the key not being on the disk, which one, there's a couple, one to allow yo uto complete the installation, and then there's the one that MS checks to see if the OS has been installed, and in use on how many machines compared the the licence that has been purchased with the disk. Think about this for a second. Or better yet, do it ! Install the OS, it will ask you for an installation key, that's on the side of the machine ( if put there) or on the package when purchased, now you have to punch this key in to get any further, keeping in mind , the machine is not connected to the internet. You punch in the key, so, if it weren't on the disk, then how could it possibly know if you typed in the correct sequence of digits and letters ? It can't. When you activate, all it does is check that key, to see , as I said before, hoe many times it has been activated. To me, there's nothing to figure out. Nothing to ponder. it's basic thinking. But then again, I never did think like most other people.
