  1. I didn't read Van's use of CO.But this is used for Central office of your telephone company sometimes called telco also. This usually applies to DSL or dial-up.When you are checking your line distance or legnth.A call to your telephone company is the best way to determine this but there is an online calculator .In my case the online calculator was 10000 ft off what the telephone company said. The Central Office is not necessarily where you pay the bill but the main terminal that your line goes to.
  2. Hi Shug; I tried the first link you gave that was from Van origionally. It was interesting all you had to do was select a game & it gave system information then said if the PC tested would play the game or made recommendations if it couldn't.
  3. I have the same mouse or almost the same one.In the control panel/mouse there is a tab for wheel .It has adjustments for wheel scrolling speed try adjusting these to see if it corrects the problem. If you don't have this adjustment you probably have the wrong driver for your mouse. I use this dl for mine I have windows ME http://download.microsoft.com/download/4/8/c/48ca781f-a1be-4cdc-8d97-dfc33535d4da/IP4_12EngALLMsi.exe This is the one it gives for XP http://download.microsoft.com/download/7/C/0/7C07FB08-CA20-4405-B090-F4D1980DBB77/IP5_2Eng.exe
  4. amc11890 : Do you have a system restore point from before you did the mobo patch? When you DL & extract a file you should save the old file by copying it & pasting it into a seperate folder. That way you can replace the new one with the old one if the new one causes a problem or error.this is quicker & easier than a system restore. If you didn't do it this time try this next time it can save you a problem. Also did you try scannow? I'm not sure on this but both errors show 'NT" .Do you have a NT file system? If you don't & these files are for a NT system I think that is the cause of the errors. I don't have a NT system so I won't be much help on this but maybe another member will.
  5. Ryan314 ;I think this is the one you're looking for. http://gameadvisor.futuremark.com/gameadvisor/service/my_system.jsp
  6. amc11890 ;Below is a MS link about scannow you might read it & see if it will repair the corrupted file. You didn't say if the DL helped or if you tried to find & replace the corrupted file with it.A system restor to a point before you tried the mobo patch might fix it.Were you doing this from inside windows or from your BIOS? I'm with FallowEarth the Symantec looks like something Norton maybe an old file left behind from an incomplete uninstall. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310747/EN-US/
  7. I'm getting the error also but I have always found the converter to be correct. i2d | ScruFFy | ; Try not to be so negative ; explain why you think its wrong & if it is it will be fixed.
  8. I don't know if this will help but this is a link to DL S32EVNT1.DLL if its missing or corrupt http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?s32evnt1
  9. amc11890; I didn't try to Google it but if its something in a 16 bit Windows subsystem I wouldn't worry much.Try a reboot & see if you get the error again. If you do tell us what you were doing when you first got the message. You might try a scandisk & defrag also.
  10. With dial-up my ISP also filters the e-mail for viruses.I had several notices from some I got last week. They give the e-mail address of the sender but all of them were bogus addresses.Anyway they caught them before the hit Outlook.I do use a firewall & AV of my own to screen e-mail as well.So far I have never gotten a virus in e-mail.
  11. Blunted 2 ; Mines probably not the test you're looking forbut this is from my dial-up.It started about 15KB/sec then leveled at 11 KB/sec .Heres the screenshot.
  12. I like tdawnaz suspected the cloves if not this another link mentioned sodium nitrate I bet the ham has this or some nitrate like potassium nitrate. It could just be the sodium itself cats can have kidney problems.I would suggest trying this cat on some regular pork like pork chops & see its reaction. If it doesn't cause any then it must be something in the ham processing.
  13. TimPawlak ; 45 Kbps is pretty good for dial-up especially if that is average for you. There are some Cablenut suggestions in All Dial -up. Try some of the other tweaks to make your browser load better this can make it work faster that the test indicates. How does it web surf ?
  14. I've never sold anything on Ebay but as a buyer about 95% of my purchases have been good. The main things I like to have from a seller are the exact shipping cost before I bid;then pack it really well so it doesn't get damaged when shipped even if insurance takes care of the damage if it occurs it's still a pain for the buyer; ship it as soon as you get paid .If you do these things you will have a satisfied buyer.Your main problem is you don't have any sales for buyers to check feedback .
  15. pitbull481: Yes its prepaid. With the 1 year plan you only have to prepay it once a year.If you go over the minutes you get with the plan every month then you have to buy a card with more minutes to get to the next month.I don't spend that much time on the phone cell or hard line so I have never had to buy additional minutes. Its not the plan for everyone but works for me.
  16. I use the 1 year plan with tracfone. In my area tracfone uses Cingular.I haven't had any problems with it.Reception is good.
  17. Here are some Santa Claus( St. Nicholas) facts: 4th century: There are two main, incompatible belief systems about St. Nicholas: Among Roman Catholics and conservative Protestants, there is a near universal belief that St. Nicholas of Bari once lived in Asia Minor, and died in either 345 or 352 CE. The Catholic Information Network speculates that he was probably born in Patara in the province of Myra in Asia Minor; this is apparently based on the belief that he later became bishop of Myra in Lycia (now Turkey). 8. He is alleged to have attended the first council of Nicea; however, his name does not appear on lists of attending bishops. He is honored as a Patron Saint in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Russia, Sicily, and Switzerland. 2 He is also considered the patron saint of children and sailors. Many legends and miracles are attributed to him: When he was an infant, his mother only nursed him on Wednesdays and Fridays; he fasted the remaining days. He halted a storm at sea in order to save three drowning sailors. During his lifetime, he adored children and often threw gifts anonymously into the windows of their homes. His father left him a fortune which he used to help poor children. He grabbed the sword of an executioner to save the life of a political prisoner. He brought back to life several children who had been killed. Most religious historians and experts in folklore believe that there is no valid evidence to indicate that St. Nicholas ever existed as a human. In fact, there are quite a few indicators that his life story was simply recycled from those of Pagan gods. Many other ancient Pagan gods and goddesses were similarly Christianized in the early centuries of the Church. His legends seems to have been mainly created out of myths attributed to the Greek God Poseidon, the Roman God Neptune, and the Teutonic God Hold Nickar. "In the popular imagination [of many Russians] he became the heir of Mikoula, the god of harvest, 'who will replace God, when God becomes too old.' " 8 When the church created the persona of St. Nicholas, they adopted Poseidon's title "the Sailor." They seem to have picked up his last name from Nickar. Various temples of Poseidon became shrines of St. Nicholas. 1 "In medieval England... in tiny sea ports we find the typical little chapel built on an eminence and looking out to sea." 8 St. Nicholas also adopted some of the qualities of "The Grandmother" or Befana from Italy. She was said to have filled children's stockings with gifts. Her shrine at Bari was also converted into a shrine to St. Nicholas. The Christian church created a fictional life history for St. Nicholas. He was given the name Hagios Nikolaos (a.k.a. St. Nicholas of Myra). 10th century: The Christian author Metaphrastes collected and wrote many traditional legends about St. Nicholas. 11th century: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that during the Muslim invasion of Asia Minor, his remains were transferred to Bari in Italy, where he became known as Nicholas of Bari. 19th century: St. Nicholas was superseded in much of Europe by Christkindlein, the Christ child, who delivered gifts in secret to the children. He traveled with a dwarf-like helper called Pelznickel (a.k.a. Belsnickle) or with St. Nicholas-like figures. Eventually, all three were combined into the image that we now know as Santa Claus. "Christkindlein" became Kriss Kringle. Before the communist revolution, large numbers of Russian Orthodox pilgrims came to Bari to visit St Nicholas' tomb. "He and St Andrew the apostle are the patrons of Russia." 8 Present day: Throughout many countries in Europe, St. Nicholas/Santa distributes gifts to the children on DEC-5, the eve of his feast day. In some countries, the gifts come at another time during Advent or on Christmas eve. In Germany, Weinachtsmann (Christmas man) is a helper of the Christkind (Christ Child) In France, P
  18. Since Santa Claus or anyone of the other names he is called are not in the Bible he should not be part of the Christian celebration of Christmas or Jesus Christ's birth.I celebrate Christmas but do not include Santa Claus in this. There are other pagan traditions that have been added by the early Catholic church mostly to entice pagans to join the church. This should not have been done. The generally accepted date for Christmas we use now was probably taken from the date of the winter solstice. For Christians we should celebrate Jesus's birth everyday. If asked by a child about Santa I tell them this is for their parents to explain to them.So far this has worked .For an adult usually a look of disdain works.
  19. I know this started with a cached test but if you want to try a "ridiculously high tcp window size " Try 65781760 with window scaling enabled for your rwin. Then test it at speedguide.net with their tcp/ip analyzer.
  20. If I could get my dial-up(which is good average) to do ROM-DOS's speed I'll take my chances with the FCC.
  21. I had Sygate at one time & was satisfied with it .But it stopped working correctly for some reason & I never could fix it even with a new DL.So I now have Outpost & am satisfied with it .
  22. SuperDav2000 : What OS do you have? I'm not sure what to do to correct the problem.Try setting the cookie handling like this in IE.In mine its in ToolsInternet OptionsPrivacyAdvanced.Check "override automatic cookie handling",First party cookies accept,Third party cookies block.Check "always allow session cookies". I have some time settings for Windows ME that should work in 9x but not for later OS's.
  23. SuperDav2000 : If you are getting a "working offline message" then you are being disconnected for some reason. If disconnected then of course the upload can't complete. So one reason may be your ISP isn't detecting the upload as activity & is disconnecting your connection as inactive.
  24. I can't do a cached test on the main server anymore with dial-up.I still can at the mirrors. The main server just keeps going to its largest test when I try to do a cached test .I only post one as an example of what not to do.
  25. waterRTBH: Glad to here it worked well the method has never failed me.I think the longer time may have been from cooling while you injected the turkey.Or like you said if it was not throughly thawed this increases time.Oven thermostats can be off I know mine is thats why I use an oven thermometer.I only paid $12. for mine. This way you know your oven temp. It should be done in 4.5 hours for a 14 LB turkey but I also use the color as an indicater I like a nice golden brown The pull the leg is a good indicator too.I use a meat thermometer as a final check. The stuffing was my grandmother's recipe too bad shes not around to make it.But she would be 95 now if she was still alive.
