Well 15 more months,Upgraded to hn7000s today
ghostmaster replied to WFR-Fred's topic in HughesNet (DIRECWAY)
For performance sake, you must make sure that the TRANSMITTER, not just the cables are grounded. If the TRANSMITTER is not grounded, static will build up and cause poor/no connectivity, and you can forget good uploads... -

They will be exactly the same, unless you are on satellite G16. The others havn't been upgraded to support DVBS-2 yet. Recommend you visit http://www.dslreports.com/forum/sat. Many experts there who can get your system set up the right way.... -
LoL.... Have you ever tasted the caulk?

Dude, all you have to do is unplug the modem, go to the dish, cut a small slit in the LNB plastic cover and press on it a little bit to drain the water. After that, the water won't stay in it any more... Thats all I had to do...

If you want to do any port forwarding whatsoever with Hughesnet, you MUST have the static IP service. It costs about 20 dollars extra a month. With that service, your DW7000 modem will forward ALL ports and you can set you router to a public IP address, and forward ports accordingly. Web accelleration only effects web browsing. You might was well reenable it, unless you are having trouble with certain sites. http://www.dslreports.com/faq/13545

Direcway Signal Strength, Someone Please Help!
ghostmaster replied to rjventre's topic in General Help
Hey Im on Hughes at night Tommie, you must be on a freak transponder, because almost everyone else has slow downloads at night, and great during the day. Unless you are on a mostly business transponder. In that case, your peak hours would be during the day. I was on 1310 when I was on the DW6000 too, and I think I remember it being that way then.... Pity I couldn't get back on that one.... -

Direcway Signal Strength, Someone Please Help!
ghostmaster replied to rjventre's topic in General Help
It's different because most of us who aren't living within reach of cable or dsl can't afford 2000+ worth of crap just to have broadband at home. And if we could, we wouldn't be using Hughes, we'd be using something on IDirect. The 2 real problems with Hughes are over subscriptions, and a few subpar installers, who frankly just don't give a crap. And right now, speeds with Hughes are worse than ever during peak hours, with a lot of people getting dialup speeds during peak hours. That's what I get for thinking Hughes would improve after finally breaking away from DirecTV..... -

It's Hughesnet's next satellite platform. Spaceway 3 is the name of the sat. http://www.hughesnet.com/HUGHES/Rooms/DisplayPages/LayoutInitial?Container=com.webridge.entity.Entity%5BOID%5B1F25CC9CF1479743B2C83A5CF6F811F0%5D%5D -
Direcway Signal Strength, Someone Please Help!
ghostmaster replied to rjventre's topic in General Help
The only sat that is DVBS-2 compatible is IA6. But they all will eventually. Then again, in a couple of years, it won't matter when SpaceWay 3 goes up. As far as signal strength is concerned, you must remember it's a digital signal. So the strength doesn't necessarily mean it will effect performance. The higher, the better rain fade you will have. -

It was originaly a B movie, and its supposed to be kinda out there. I went to go see it, and yes it is an entertaining movie. It's not supposed to be realistic, just entertaining. It's worth it to go see it. If you want to see a real crazy B movie, rent "Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter"....hilariously bad...

The Fastest P2P program for Satellite users.
ghostmaster replied to 816_1443013898's topic in HughesNet (DIRECWAY)
Because you have issues with uploading on Satellite. Each self hosted hughesnet modem has a built in NAT firewall that may or may not hinder file sharing. Many things, such as sending files with AIM don't work all the time with satellite. Wildblue does not have the same practice so it should be fine. I couldn't even get FrostWire to download anything so i'll stick with Shareaza. -

Be aware that we are talking about Satellite Users. Those programs might work fine for you, but probably not for us. BTW, I like Shareaza.... -
DW 6000, Satellite Link Outage Error 506
ghostmaster replied to jonnydabney's topic in General Discussion
http://www.dslreports.com/faq/2626 Check out this FAQ on grounding here. On the transmitter, there is a small screw with GND on it. There should be a wire running from that to a ground source. -
Some BIOSs have a special key to open up advanced options. I think it's F11 most of the time. See if you can find out if that option is availiable...

Strange indeed....

Double post...sorry
-
Sorry for the double post, I didn't realize I clicked quote instead of modify.... EDIT: Nevermind, I didn't read the whole thing... More often than not, windows misreports clock speeds. If you use something else that reads the system specs, like the bios, what speed does it say? Did you try turning off Cool N Quiet in te BIOS?

DW 6000, Satellite Link Outage Error 506
ghostmaster replied to jonnydabney's topic in General Discussion
Most likely your connection to the Hughes Web Accelerator was down, and rebooting the modem fixed it. If you end up having to do this very often, it may be a sign of a grounding problem. -
