Hi shoprat ...welcome to the forum... The best thing I can suggest is to go to Ebay ...buy another 4000 and take the 6000 and use it for a wheel chalk.... Sorry...just my opinion...any way....the 4000 has download speeds that are almost twice that of the 6000. The uploads are close to the same....if you upgrade to a professional account (twice the money) your speeds should be about 10% better for DL....upload maybe 15%. You could post your speed and some of the specs for your Dway and we'll see if something looks out of line.. Look through the forum and you'll see the speeds that are average for the two systems..

Hey popeoncoke ...welcome to the forum.. I'm no expert here but...yes a USB cable is slower than an ethernet cable...and if your running win98...you may not even be on a 2.0USB port. So if you can hook up with an ethernet cable it'll help...but I think you have more going on than just that...

dagger ..there's more to building the cablenut files than a tutorial could teach you...Van asks for the tracert and ping tests to help him determin the latency. Then he seems to incorporate the up and down max connection speed and rolls in the operating system and in some cases the computer speed. After which the numbers are dropped into cablenut and certain ones need to multiples of other numbers. So to me it seems that a total understanding of the above mentioned processes is needed to be effective at this, which makes it more of a concept then a simple tutorial could get across to most people. I've been paying attention....but he looses me at times...
