  1. It's on the top members page https://testmy.net/memberstats/?top=1 ... Why didn't you see it? ... you are ranking with that new connection by the way
  2. Damn... that upload is killer!
  3. I get such weird speeds at my house. On Verizon Wireless, Droid X... I can only get this speed in one specific place in my living room. 1MB burst larger test size and upload My backyard I think it has to do with the mountain I'm on. Does anyone know about a mountains effects on radio signals. ... And at my old place, in September I'm on WiFi when I'm at home so I don't mind that much... but I am curious if the terrain could be at fault.
  4. Try this ... https://testmy.net/ul-97 that's a little smaller than what's publicly shown. Also, letus know some details on your provider and connection type.
  5. I haven't started it yet but I'm working in that direction ... I want to really take my time with that.
  6. The reason is because I query your host information, it's fairly common for ISPs that buy smaller markets to keep the host information the same as it was for years... For instance, people who were on Cingular Wireless have obviously been on AT&T for some time now. But when they test here they show up as Mycingular.net stats. I kinda think there isn't an AT&T in the drop down because they've built their market off of buying up smaller providers... and have kept the old hostnames for some reason. That drop down list is built automatically and lists all host names with a curtain number of tests. You should be comparing yourself to other people being detected on Bellsouth however. If you look at the host stats for BellSouth I've added AT&T on there. But hopefully in a few months time I'll have my new and improved host detection in place that will fix issues like that.
  7. He just remembered the first number wrong... he was 100% correct though. I removed that question. Those aren't meant to be tricky like that
  8. He's referring to the anti-spambot questions by the way guys. The question was "What is 14 minus 13 times 2" --- acceptable answers to pass is 2 and two. ... you're actually absolutely right. Damn. It would need to be written (14-13)2 or (14-13) * 2 for it to equal 2. DOH! --- 14-13*2= -12 Here's a question, I can't seem to remember what are those are called in math. I always just think of them as pre-equation brackets e.g. ((x / y)(z * w)q)= a ... And you my friend get a sophist account for proving me wrong, even if it was just on the registration anti-spambot questions.
  9. Open 'Font Book' (easily find this with a spotlight search) and under the "Web" collection you should have the following... ... I'm fairly certain that disabling all but these default web fonts will fix the problem. They will still be on your computer, just not in the 'web' collection. All the fonts that you add should be under "User" or "Computer" in your font book. I personally have never had the problem your having but this is my best guess from a distance
  10. You'd really only need a switch if you didn't have anymore available ports on your router.
  11. There is Cox in Kansas?

Haha. Truth is that I need to get an ip database. gethostbyaddr() doesn't work well enough on this scale, no matter how much processing I put it through there are limitations to the things I can detect that way. Only a small percentage of users aren't getting detected correctly by the way... I just have to fork out a bunch of money for a real IP database then rewrite a few things to accommodate. Once I get that in place TestMy.net will be able to provide users more regional stats. For instance, stats can be dissected down by city, state, zip. ... I try to keep it vague most of the time when it comes to upcoming features. I'd rather just deliver it than talk about it. And in this particular case, I'm not sure when I'll have it finished.
  13. Your stats show that you're on Semo.net >> https://testmy.net/compID/1881295029284 ... So I don't see the conflict you're talking about, can you provide a screenshot?
  14. Yeah, I suggest that you never listen to your providers test... ever. They are testing internally. Too close to be a real test of your internet. God, I wish that the world knew this... I'd have allot more visitors. You need to tell them about the issue because I'm on Cox.net Ultimate too, over 1000 miles from the server and look what I get. ... Oh yeah, that test is flash based so you can throw it's accuracy out the window anyway. What are your system specs? You may have something out of place. TestMy.net is a more thorough and can detect things that flash speed tests don't seem to notice. Like incorrect MTU and Rwin settings, read http://old.testmy.net/t-1013. I've seen poor hard drive performance effect the results here as well. Flash based tests are more of a novelty than a real test of your performance.

Currently it will just show up as co.uk but this will be changing soon.
  16. Welcome back, glad to see you again... you have one of those usernames that I always recognize when I see it. Why haven't you tested since April 2010?! ...or is it that you just haven't been logged in? Personally, I would let windows manage it. In the past though, I have setup special separate drives and/or partitions for that. Just tell windows to use that drive letter instead. But, I personally haven't made any changes to that on any of my installs in years. ... yes, if you have fast and large enough RAM the pagefile system is nearly a moot point. Because it doesn't get a chance to make it into cache... Not necessary unless you run out of RAM or the information takes along time to process out of memory. 17. If you're in Manchester, England and are getting those speeds you're not in bad shape. But you can improve your connection to the United States by tweaking a few settings. Look into Van Buren's Cablenut Settings And also Speedguide's TCP Optimizer You basically have to tell your computer to send the data a little differently to maximize performance over distance.
  18. Sorry.. I took the weekend off ... this is on my list
  19. You can still access those but I removed the links. Just go to... https://testmy.net/stats/7D-yourUsername or https://testmy.net/stats/30D-yourUsername[/code] The reason I took those links down is because I'm creating a new graphing system to replace those pages. Users will have allot more control over how their connection information is displayed to them. I wanted to simplify the interface a little until that's released. I still don't have a release date but I'm working away at it. I've left the 7 and 30 day links in the mobile version by the way.

    Hello

    Thanks opusten! Welcome to TestMy.net
  21. Sorry you haven't got a response on this yet. I personally haven't had a problem like that but maybe if you provide a little bit more details about the crash I can help. Are you on a laptop? You could possibly have something in the room that's interfering. I personally have little drop zones in my house... mostly because of the amount of various electronics I have. But some areas, within a two foot radius will drop my speeds by 40Mbps, move over a little and BAM, full speed. So that's something to look into. Good luck, and if you find the culprit please post your solution so that any future visitors may find help. -CA3LE
  22. Your ISP is most likely saying that your speed is 256 Kbps, Kbps not kB/s. You're getting 216 Kbps which is pretty good considering the distance between you and the server. And when you're getting 35 kB/s you're actually getting more than your advertised speed (about 280 Kbps, see the speed conversion tool). ISPs usually sell their plans based on line speeds in Kbps, Mbps or Gbps. Not by file transfer speeds of kB/s MB/s and GB/s. Both are listed in the results here because different people have different terms that are familiar to them... I try to accomodate all types of users. merged double post
  23. Yeah, companies always get away with stuff in the fine print. The best we can really do is try to educate people on their practices and recommend ISPs with better practices. I just hope that the information here has and will continue to help make the internet a better (faster) place.
  24. Well, are you experiencing slow downloads to most servers? If yes, I would raise a stink. Maybe run a scheduled test and see what times you're slowing down. These problems are usually associated with peak traffic hours. After you've tested you can give your stats link to Shaw. We don't have that problem here. Firstly, I'm a linux guy myself. Secondly, I program with compatibility on the forefront of my mind. I try and make sure that my users don't require anything special to run the tests here. Any OS with the vanilla browser will work properly here. Another thing that this site does is show the difference between browsers (other speed tests don't seem to notice). Third... I extensively test my programs in literally EVERY browser. There are a couple of known browser issues... the PS3 browser (piece of crap) simply doesn't work and Opera (another PoS) doesn't perform well, I personally can only pull 20Mbps out of it on my 50Mbps line (Mac Version). The methods that are employed here enable this test to benchmark browsers as well as your internet. Short comings of browsers like opera become very apparent when you test here. Over the years I've seen the balance of power shift from IE to Firefox to Chrome back to Firefox... etc. Depends on the build really. If you run tests back to back using different browsers you'll see what I mean. No problem, that's what we're here for. Please tell your friends about the site. This is 100% word of mouth. - Damon Another good example. Thanks Nick -D
