Does Charter not allow P2P transfers
Grambler replied to Chartercritic's topic in Charter Communications
I have Charter 3M/256 and have VONAGE. I use P2P programs without any problem, such as limewire or emule. my modem is a Linksys BEFCMU10 and Router is Linksys WRT54GP2. -
Found out about this site from a VONAGE tech when I was setting up my service.

Partition Magic would be my choice, it will allow you to keep your current configuration in place while partitioning the drive. With FDisk you have to erase everything and start over.

Just like to let future Charter customers know..
Grambler replied to BrandonW's topic in Charter Communications
I'm with you SLOWER, Charter needs to get some more skilled help. For the most part my service is what I pay for, but when there is a problem it takes a long time to resolve. I also use VOIP so when I loose my cable I also loose my phone. -
OK... I realy need some help with this one. I have a DVD-ROM and a DVD-RW in my machine. The system and OS (XP media center edition) both see the drives for what they are until I insert a DVD into either drive. At that time the icon in MY COMPUTER changes to CD-DRIVE designation and will not read the DVD. The DVD-RW will read and write cds with no problem. Thanks in advance. BTW..this is a fresh install of windows also.

Try booting to SAFE MODE and deleting file from there.

Sonetimes a good, clean install of windows is one of the best things for your system. Gets rid of lots of garbage that builds up in the registry. Getting ready to do the same, except going back with XP - Media Center Edition

I have the same package and same situation. I have been using Vonage for a year now and would not think of going back. What I do not understand is why Charter is still only at 3MB and all of the surrounding Atlanta area on Comcast is now at 8MB. This is my average speed.... :::.. Download Stats ..::: Connection is:: 2943 Kbps about 2.9 Mbps (tested with 2992 kB) Download Speed is:: 359 kB/s Tested From:: https://testmy.net/ (server2) Test Time:: Thu Sep 01 2005 21:21:09 GMT-0400 (Eastern Daylight Time) Bottom Line:: 53X faster than 56K 1MB download in 2.85 sec Diagnosis: Looks Great : 15.28 % faster than the average for host (charter.com) Validation Link:: https://testmy.net/stats/id-WRXQJTI27

Try laptop with all encryption off just for a test run to see if it will connect and surf the web. If that works then try moving up through the different levels of security. I have to run mine at WEP 64 bit, if I go to 128 then I get little or no internet conectivity message.

I have done hardware upgrades like this one before several times. I seems that Windows does not like being thrown into a new environment. (new mobo and proc). I have had to reinstall windows everytime.
