problem solved? ok cool. More then never and less then rarly, I get an error "memory at that address cannot be acessed", but it often happens in the same programs. Also, I used to get memory errors left and right untill the misfit computer was fixed by raising my northbridge voltage. (But that problem is not yours.)

Hopefully he feals alot better after venting is anger from multiple cases of customer disrepect, misleading info, and unfair business. It does remind me of this:

lol what a nightmare problem, sounds like its solved. But just to mention it, you can go: my computer > properties > sys restore > drive C: settings > set max system restore disk space. On another note, pcpitstop full test usually is helpful enough to direct my attention to what could be causing proplems. What size is the harddrive and what percent is used? Did that take care of the processor idleing at 50%?

I dont understand fr0stbound, Is that in mhz? What is his stock speed? 800Mhz to 1050Mhz? or 1066mhz to 1050mhz? I personally saw a 20% improvement going from 800Mhz to 533Mhz and tightening the memory timings. (more work per cycle)

Im not that old I remember as far back as rebel assult on MSdos (and a box that said harddrive required) and then windows 3.1 with a 5 inch floppy disk, then it was command and conquer tiberian sun, then starcraft. One vivid memory I have was while walking past harddrives on a shelf. I was walking from the low end drives 2-8GBs toward the higher end ones. The further I got the bigger the price tag on each hard drive. Naturally I wanted to see how high the numbers went. So I quickly walked onward. At the end of the shelf where a hard drive was suppost to be there was an empty space. I read the tag of the missing drive: 40GB, $4000 dollars.

Yes you have to do your research first! What are the recommended temps for cpu and ambient for your system? What frequencies can you expect from FSB on motherboard? CPU? RAM? (example: which will limit you?) What voltages are stock, mild overclock, and heavy overclock for all your system componets? Read overclocking testimonials from other people with the same sys componets. Learn your stuff, there is a reason why overclocking voids all your warranties.

I increased the northbridge voltage from 1.6v to 1.68v: Instead of finding memory errors every 5 minutes only 1 was found in half an hour. The computer already seems more stable. I have yet to do a through analysis, Im just so happy my games aren't crashing (yet? or for good? unknown). Something interesting: when I set the mem to its lowest freq and its tightest timings the computer crashed when I was acessing files on it from a networked computer (possably coincidence), and crashed again when I was using calculator! lol The memory has since been set to stock freq and timings.

Well, tdawnaz One game that crashes the computer most often is BF2 demo, which does not have a CD. Memory Speeds (Kingston pc3200 rated at 400MHz) I have gotten mem errors from my test program when I put CPU to RAM ratio to 6:5 = memory at 166 dual channel = 333MHz. But I didnt try to play at that speed.

Ok... lol that leaves every other game, that crashes (to desktop or restarts) the computer, left to diagnose. yesterday I had 7 crashes in an hour or so, sad thing is i dont make any progress in the game when it crashes that often. Thanks for all your suggestions, and time

Untill my computer blows up? It took over 2 hours to check the sectors on my 500GB harddrive, and scandisk took 2 minutes. Im back to normal boot (not safemode) and you were right on the video drivers. My computer makes an audible click one second before it restarts. It sounds like the noise that came from old harddrives when they read from the disk but its at a slighty higher tone and only lasts ... um 2/10ths of a second.

Do you void all warenties if you open up a laptop? If a 2.0Ghz processor idles at 1.99Ghz thats quite reasonable, but in your attempt to overclock you see the cpu speed droping? Did the GhostRecon2 installer say your cpu speed is to slow? Maybe it scaned your computer for a 2.0ghz P4 and didnt reported you didnt have one?
