  1. I would say the 8400 GS is the better card, it is newer technology. Even with the 8400 GS you will have to turn down the eye candy and maybe have to lower the screen resolution to get COD4 playable.
  2. There are not that many DirectX10 games out now, most are still DirectX9 so the video card will run the game in DirectX 9
  3. Yes ,but they can run DirectX 9 on a DirectX9 computer. The card can run both.
  4. I would not go with the Sapphire 3650, but the 8600GT is not a bad card . Most people [ including me ] will tell you to save up some more money and get the 8800GT instead. It is alot better card, more bang for your bucks. You do have to take NewEgg reviews with a grain of salt.
  5. If you turn down the screen resolution in the game down from 1600 X1200 to 1280 X1024 you will be able to use a lesser card and turn the eye candy back up some.
  6. People are still debating that. Some people say some of the games run better on DirectX9, But the eye candy is not as good.
  7. DirectX 10 is not backward compatible. The card can also play DirectX 9 too. It is able to do both.
  8. DirectX 10 only works with Vista. The video card will use DirectX 9 with XP or any older OS. That card will work if he turn down the eye candy. I made the same mistake ,I went and brought a 24 inch monitor and lock the computer up trying to playing COD4 at 1920 X 1200 at high setting. My two 7800GT could not handle it. So I am looking to upgrade my video card soon. For now I just turn down the eye candy.
  9. For 100.00 dollar it is going to be hard to find a good new video card. It might be better for you to buy a older used card. It will give you more bang for your buck. If I was going to buy a new video card I would at lease buy a ATI 3850 for $169.99 to $229.00 or a 3870 for $200.00 to $250.00 or a Nvidia 8800GT for 200.00 to 250.00. Try to get one with at lease 512 of video memory.
  10. If you are talking about Window XP, I brought a OEM copy for $89.99 at NewEgg. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116056
  11. None everything is legal, I payed for it all including my copy of Window XP. If I didn't buy it, I downloaded it as a free software program from the internet, that is were most of the programs I use come from. I also use open source programs.,
  12. I did a little looking around and that board is picky about what ram you use and what ram timing you use. One person said the board would not work with 4 GB of ram,but work fine with 2GB. The 680 board do not have the best reputation either, they like to eat ram. Unless you are going to run SLI you might want to look at a Intel P35 board. Seems like a lot of people like them.
  13. Memory cause a lot of problem. Try using Memtest 86 to see if you get any errors. Just download it and burn it to a cd ,then set the BIOS to boot off the cd. Also disconnet every thing you do not need to boot. My AN8-SLI Premium never get the defaut reading right when I clear the BIOS. Check to see if they are set right.[ cpu multiplier, cpu voltage, ram voltage, ram timing], Make sure nothing is over heating.
  14. The speed test are working with no problems, but I am still getting the lag when loading the next page after a post. Edit- It took almost a minute to change the page this time
  15. I do not have smartbro internet, so I can not answer you question, but you should be able to get a answer for your question here. http://www.testmy.net/forum/index.php?board=135.0

  23. I get this when I try a dual test. Fatal error: Cannot redeclare ssi_shutdown() (previously declared in /home/tmn/public_html/forum/SSI.php:180) in /home/tmn/public_html/forum/SSI.php on line 182 Still got some bugs to Kill.
  24. It look like you need a new router. Unless something is interfering [phone, other wireless devices ] with you signal you pretty much eliminated every thing else. Can you find a router you can borrow..
  25. I guess that why it failed. :haha:
