  6. hey Jeff and welcome to the forum if you connect your pc direct to the modem, leave the duplex setting at default usally works very well. however you can try to force 10 Mbps halfduplex quote from http://dslnuts.com/tips_tricks.shtml "Windows 2000 or XP: to change to half-duplex: * Open Control Panel. * Double-click Network and Dial-up Connections. * Identify the icon for your cable modem connection: usually Local Area Connection. * Right-click that icon and select Properties. * Under the ethernet adapter icon, click the button Configure. * Click the tab Advanced to bring it to the front: * In the Property box, the property name to be selected varies according to model of ethernet card. Examples are: Network Link Selection, Media Type, Connection Type, Duplex Mode, or any similarly-named property which can have Values looking like Auto-Negotiation, or 10BT, or 10BaseT. * In the Value box, select a value which either (a) explicitly says half-duplex or semi-duplex, or ( at least does not say full-duplex [e.g. 10BaseT on its own is OK]. If there is a choice between 10 and 100 with half-duplex, choose the 10. Do not choose 10Base5, 10Base2, or AUI. * Click OK to exit the Adapter settings. * Click OK to exit the Connection properties. " downloa dthis file i attach and unzip it to C:ProgramCablenut now open cablenut adjuster, click delete cablenut tweaks and click save to registry in top left corner click file, click load custom setting, browse to C:ProgramCablenut and dubbleclick on the file you unzipped now click save to registry and reboot, also reboot your modem and router for 30 seconds make speedtest and that Nitro test, copy all text you find including more info and make a new post VanBuren
  7. hey scuuder3 and welcome to the forum that download seems good, how is your upload and what cap? VanBuren
  8. hey again Nitro4WD somehow you must have restored the resistry or windows did, thats why you noticed the canges only after reboot. i agree with Velocity, that second hop seems unstable and you should check it time to time. i thought ntl was a cable isp, correct me if im wrong anyways try this file, unzip it to C:ProgramCablenut then open cablenut adjuster, click delete cablenut tweaks + save to registry now go to top left corner, click file, click load custom settings, browse to C:ProgramCablenut and dubbleclick onthe file you unzipped. now click save to registry again and reboot, also reboot your modem and router for 30 seconds good luck VanBuren
  9. I think you covered it all Microwave like you said the atmosphere, ppl that come here to fight and beeing asshats will not stay long cos we do not tolerate that here unlike many other forums....... thats only one thing that makes this site special, another is that we have a Admin that listen to all members suggestions and improve the site constantly also we have very good mods that dosent abuse their tools keep up the good work CA3LE and all the members that make this site grow VanBuren
  10. Installation costs to your house is around 1500 USD, then a monthly cost of around 85 USD / month with a 300 GB transfer limit / month on my 10 Mbps package i have no traffic limit and pay around 40 USD / month VanBuren
  11. That prove you have access to atleast 35 Mbps, both ways, it might be a routing issue and thats why you score so much better on the other test compared to testmy.net not long ago theplanet had some big routing issues to the path im using and i scored around 300 Kbps down lol it is fixed now, and after CA3LE tweaked it i get constant scores no matter how much ppl that are on server. i still think the uploadtest here is not accurate for fat pipes, my upload and your upload should be around the same as download. When uploading, the speed will be depending on the server RWIN, if the server RWIN is low it wont matter how huge sendwindow i set at my end. for cable and dsl up to around 1 Mbps it seems very accurate i have a huge sendbuffer of 384000 and on a 150 ms ping im limited to around 2500 KB/s ( way above my cap of 1250 ) still my speed stops at around 200 KB/s constant speed if the server downloading in 200 KB/s on a 150 ms ping it will need a RWIN of tiny 29200 VanBuren
  12. yea that was l33t VanBuren
  13. heya Ody yea something stopping you from going higher then this, my sister has 100 Mbps fiber at home and with win XP default settings she get around 26 Mbps on a testserver located 25 ms away. her boyfriend loaded up almost same tweaks as this pulled 93 Mbps down and around 70 Mbps up yea you also get very sweet speed, and you should be happy VanBuren
  14. if you test 2992KB and have a faster speed then 6 Mbps you get forward to 5983 KB test and if you score faster then 8 Mbps on that test you get forward to 12160KB test. however, there is a hidden direct link to 12MB test, try it out here https://testmy.net/d_load.php?ni=1&tt=1&s=12160&st=st&ta=&top=&align=center& VanBuren

  18. no problem Velocity, i like to help thanks for reporting back, and understand that its impossible to make completly perfect files that work for everyone no matter isp i use a ping of 250 ms in all of my files, and that cover most, but the finetuning can always make it better VanBuren
  19. cool the good thing whith the ccs files is that you can tweak upload aswell, but for a 384 Kbps windows deafult is enough win XP has a very good TCP stack, if you run your NIC in 100 Mbps you will have a RWIN by default of 64240 with a MSS of 1460 if your NIC is in 10 Mbps mode you will only get a RWIN of 17520 thats means alot to the speed im on 10 Mbps fiber and the gateway switch is set to 10 Mbps full duplex, if i run 10 Mbps full duplex at my NIC i get around 6 Mbps both ways at a speedtest 25 ms away fro me. But if i use a RWIN of 64240 i get a speed of 9 Mbps down and 8.5 Mbps up, but i made some custom file with cablenut and reach my cap now, 9,5 Mbps up and down in TCP. also this overseas, i live in Sweden btw https://testmy.net/forum/index.php?topic=1940.0 VanBuren
  20. Sweet keep visiting and tell your friends about this great site happy surfing VanBuren
  21. Noticed this was a mistake by me, those 4266666 should be multiple with 1024 so use this value instead 4266666 / 1024 = 4166,666015625 = round up to 4167 x 1024 = 4267008 VanBuren
  22. sweet i would leave it like that if i was you, unless your a tweakfreak like me, then i would try the 190 ms aswell and backup this current settings first VanBuren
  23. hey RiverWar and welcome to the forum yea that was very nice what tweaks are you running? and what is your upload? VanBuren
