  1. Well at least no one that uses Firefox will ever click a link in an e-mail or ever visit a "malicious" website. So you're still safe.
  2. I tried it at work this morning just for grins and I lost a few myself. Wasn't that big a deal to me since I still can't use it at work.
  3. I don't want to get rid of the toolbars, I want them all on one line. I can do that with IE but all I can do with FF is delete the address bar line. Not very helpful when you want to type in a URL. See how my toolbars are all on the top line? I can't do that with FF. As far as themes go, I use Windowblinds. They have over 530 pages to choose from with about 8 skins per page.
  4. I don't mean the part that's accessible to John Q. Public. I mean the business side. And, like tommie gorman, my speed tests at TMN were around 500 kbs SLOWER than IE6. Every time. And I still like the functionality of IE over FF. For me, it is much easier to customize. With FF I could not get rid of the useless (to me) icons I didn't need and then make one toolbar across the top. The best I could do with FF was 2 stacked toolbars. People may not think that's a big deal, but we are talking preferences and one toolbar is my preference. Besides, why do they have to make the icons look like they stole them from AOL or a child's coloring book? FF is just an ugly browser, IMHO.
  5. Hmmm. I'll pass that info on to Ford, Jaguar and Land Rover. It's their sites that can't be accessed properly with Firefox. And my speed tests on THIS site were always way slower with FF than with IE6. That was the first reason I stopped using it. Well, that and the childish cartoon looking toolbar icons.
  6. I can't use it because it won't work with some important sites I use at work. And besides, it's Firefox. I have no use for it anyway.
  7. Ok, this is bizarre. I'm on Comcrap's basic 6 meg down/ 384k up plan and just got these numbers:
  8. Somehow I just can't see Dell dropping Windows in favor of an OS very few people are familiar with. "Dude, your getting an apple!" just doen't have the same ring to it, either.
  9. That link takes me to a login page.
  10. Oh ok. I must have misunderstood you.
  11. Umm. How much cutting are you talking about? The fins are how the heat is removed from the component. Shorter fins = less efficient cooling.
  12. Not sure it would bother them a bit seeing as how they have all our money that we spent on their oil.
  13. I get extremely flaky results at that test site. I have the 6000/384 package from Comcast. [snip] this site has been banned for spamming guy's sorry. What are your results when you test here?
  14. BTW, guys, you can download a perfectly good version of Limewire Pro directly from the free version of Limewire. Just search for it on Limewire and download and install a zip file of Limewire Pro version 4.12.6 and you can get speeds of around 400 kbps on some downloads. Or so I've heard.
  15. Are they the same company now? http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=2366&name=2048MB-DDR2-Dual-Channel-Memory-PC5400 http://www.compusa.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=2366&name=2048MB-DDR2-Dual-Channel-Memory-PC5400 Edit: Nevermind. I scrolled to the bottom of each page and saw the corporate addresses were the same.
  16. I agree. Having 4GB RAM would be nice but I do think it's overkill for this application. Would the stock power supply be adequate for the 8600GT card? Looking at the replacement parts list, it shows to be a 300 watt unit. I didn't see a wattage requirement for that card listed anywhere.
  17. I want to stay in the $100-$150 range. I'd rather not have to replace the power supply if I can avoid it. The computer is used for general use, internet surfing and occasional gaming. Thanks for the help and suggestions!!
  18. My fiancee wants to get a better card so she can play some games. Here are the mobo specs: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00757531&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3340227&lang=en She's also got a gig of RAM and can upgrade that if necessary. Not looking for the best there is, but a nice, all-purpose card that isn't too expensive. What do you guys suggest?
  19. I scored a 29 also because I keep forgetting that the encyclopedias I grew up with are now wrong about the official language of the United States. My sets of Funk & Wagnalls and Encyclopedia Britannica listed it as "English", but what do they know?

  22. Hopefully not just one man's opinion, but regrettably, far too few. Where are men like Teddy Roosevelt and The Duke when this country needs them?
  23. My point exactly. My grandparents left their homeland to come to America in search of a better life. Not to try and turn this country into what they left behind.
