  1. Oh, I'm fine. I'm just tired of the BS we have to put up with. This is America, dammit!! If you want to live here, learn to be an American like my grandparents did when the came here from Europe. They didn't refer to themselves as Italian-Americans because they came here to be Americans, plain and simple. The way it should be for every immigrant to this country. My comments weren't intended to be racist, BTW, and I apologize if they were taken that way. I'm just wondering why people want to have so much pride in a country and culture they left to come to this one.
  2. Come on, people. We all know the American dream means that you san come to this country (legally or otherwise) and expect everyone here to conform to YOUR culture and have to learn to speak YOUR language. It means you have the right to wear t-shirts proudly proclaiming that you were "HECHO EN MEXICO". Living the American dream means that you can be a "hyphenated American" and let everyone know in no uncertain terms where your loyalty lies. MEXICAN-American, AFRICAN-American, ASIAN-American, ITALIAN-American, et al. Make no mistake about it. Being American is secondary to us and don't you forget it because we most definitely will not!!

  6. That pretty much sums up Michael Moore's "movies". As far as hating Cuba, that's probably just the people in Miami who have seen there city turned into a smaller version of Cuba. Cubans go there to escape Castro's Cuba, but then expect the US become a "free will Cuba" where they are free to be Cubans living in the US. I don't understand how they can be so proud of their heritage but so quick to leave their motherland. For most of them alive today, Castro IS their heritage.
  7. This is what I get at 5:30 on a Sunday morning in Houston: But like tdawn says, just hang tight. CA3LE is on it and he'll get it taken care of.
  8. Now that's the best idea I have heard since the race began!!!! Wipe the slate clean and let's start over because "the best they have to offer" all suck ass.
  9. Hmmm. He's 400 miles away and I live in Houston yet my ping times are half again what justinlay is seeing.
  10. What are your advertised speeds? Have you actually tested your connection speed with a speed test?
  11. Yeah, JCO. This site rocks and CA3LE is the man!! He puts in a lot of effort and many long hours keeping us happy here.
  12. I was under the impression that EV1 was a dial-up ISP in Houston. I never heard ads for anything else while they were in town, anyway. But thanks for looking into it and making everyone happy again, Ca3le!

  14. Not only does it appear to be getting worse, it IS getting worse. :::.. I don't trust the test at speedtest.net because it shows almost twice my advertised speed, but dslreports, which has always been consistent for me, still shows between 4.5 & 5 megs to a busy server over 250 miles from me. The one here at TMN is supposed to be in my back yard. Well, in the same city, anyway. What the hell is going on here??

  16. Is that your XJ in the pic, becman? Judging by the size of the license plate, I'm guessing it's not a US car so I can't say if it's an XJ8 or if it's a V-6 or diesel powered XJ. But a nice car, nonetheless.
  17. I have the same problem with the new server: http://www.testmy.net/t-22659.msg261950#msg261950 Who's your ISP?
  18. Maybe I'm just stubborn, but I can't believe there isn't a problem other than "Houston is just not as good when it comes to tellicommunications". I went from 8 megs with the old server to 1.8 megs after the switch. Maybe it's Comcast, maybe it's another factor. But my slower speeds are NOT simply because the server is now closer to me. I live in the Houston city limits.
  19. I wish you all the luck in the world trying to get Comcrap to fix anything. They will send a "technician" out who will say you have a clear signal coming in and you are getting the best you can get. The fact that you were getting good speeds is completely irrelevant. If you press the matter hard enough, the "technician" can make a request to have a "line technician" come out to check the signal coming into your building (house, apartment, whatever). The "line technician" does not enter the building and unless you actually see this imaginary friend of the "technician's" you will not know he was there, nor will Comcrap bother to give you a follow up call after his alleged "service call". All you will notice is that nothing has changed and Comcrap will say that they can schedule another "technician" for yet another service call, usually for the most inconvenient time for you, the customer. Who do they think will be home on a Wednesday between noon and 5 P.M. anyway? And yes, I have played this game a few times. Comcrap always wins because they are the only cable internet provider in the city of Houston, Tx.
  20. My Comcast speeds don't suck as badly as yours, but compare my November '07 test (in my signature) to what I get now:
  21. Last time I used NAV was the 2004 version. I kept getting a weird C++ error message that would pop up every 5 minutes. Turns out that was caused by me changing my computer logon password shortly before the problem started. Apparently I needed to have a matching password in the LiveUpdate file. Norton also has a bad habit of letting you know which virus it allowed onto your machine. I love the 4-5 page long "removal tools" on their website that will only print correctly in landscape mode, too. Expensive, doesn't function properly and causes other problems. What more can you ask of an anti-virus program!
  22. No problem, tommie. My "real" DL's seem to be fine, but the test speeds here at TMN suck for me.
